WOW...not too many MLB 2B can make that play! That was sweet...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) 3 needs: 1. Pitching 2. Defense 3. Hitting LOLLYGAGGERS!

QUOTE (GermanSock @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) Trading avi or abreu could make sense but only if the market gets better. I wouldn't trade them for a pair of 40 prospects or so. Problem is that the market for bats currently is not good, maybe it gets better next year. If they get a real top100 prospect and a solid depth piece either is gone but I'm not sure a team is going to pay that. Kind of hard even realistically talking about it right now until after the postseason and you get a feel for teams (in the postseason) needs. Teams like the Yanks that could fall on their face for not having a true threat at 1B...etc... Personally I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell Abreu gets moved unless it's a ridiculous deal. Avi...probably not either.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) I kinda liked the hill. Baseball fields are too samey now. lol...like in HS...snow fences and "over the swing set is a home run" kinda stuff. I'm down...

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) On season 1 of Narcos, but man, what a fascinating show. I just started this as well...really like it so far!

thought I'd share this pic...took this when we took off down the Salt River last week. What's cool is they have TONS of wild horses up and own the river there. And being the dopes the State of AZ are...they had this plan to round them all up and either kill some...sell some...or whatever...and people found out about it and went nuts! And smartly...they decided to leave them alone. But really gorgeous views up and down the Salt out here...and fishing in some spots is pretty good for bass.

QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 17, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) I caught my first bass on a fly and fly rod last weekend. I fished tournaments with Anglers Unlimited in the 80s and 90s. Lots of bass and walleye in the Chain and into Wisconsin. Now I'm near the gulf and well saltwater kicks ass for fishing. Fly rod huh? I've got the Fishing Network (which I friggin LOVE)...and always thought about trying that...but good lord that looks like a pain! I don't know...maybe in these NW rolling rivers they show...that's the ticket...but just looks like a ton of work. But kudos to you Tex for gettin' on that horse! Saltwater does kick ass btw. One of my favorite things to do it head to San Diego (it's close) during yellow tail season. Any kind of fishing kicks ass IMO. One thing I'm delving in this weekend are some tubes. I've never really used...or tried them...but they make sense. I'm on this site called Wired2Fish...and they have a ton of vids for techniques...and I came across some tube ones last week. So gonna give it a whirl. I'm still getting used to the kayak fishing. It's kind of a pain in the ass...with very limited room. I lost a really nice bass this weekend on a YUM Dinger....got it right up to my yak and it popped off. I stewed for an hour lol...

ahhh...ok thanks. those youtube vids are pretty hysterical on that link strange hahaaa. You guys sure you want him on the coaching list?

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) Isn't McDaniels unstable though? He was a poor head coach in Denver and drafted Tebow in the first round. I thought he was fired before they drafted Tebow? Wasn't he fired before the season ended? He's the dude that wanted to bring in Matt Cassell with him from NE...pissed off Cutler and the trade was made after the 08 season. Am I recalling that correctly?

I keep seeing people throw out Fernando Rodney. Dude's got 38 saves on a playoff bound team. What makes people think he'd want to just ship for a rebuilding team being 40 years old?!?!

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) Who's coaching the Bears next year? Jim Bob Cooter? that's who my money'd be on. Not sure he'd be my first choice...but it makes all the sense in the world this front office would make a move like that. Me....meh. I still go hard after Harbaugh first...and go from there.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) It's disappointing that Josh Bellamy gets to drop multiple balls every game and keep a job when other WRs keep getting cut. I know he plays ST well, but he has actually had to play a lot of WR the last two seasons and it has not been pretty THIS!!! Very disappointed they let Gentry go again. Also disappointed the Bears passed on Jaelen Strong after the Texans cut him yesterday. He and O'Brien just never meshed from Day 1 for some reason. But tell ya what....and call me a homer...but Strong was one of the better receivers I'd seen in a while when at ASU. He caught everything thrown at him and had probably a "WOW" catch every game it seemed. Bears pass...Jacksonville snatched him up. But seriously...Bellamy...c'mon man?!?!??!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 06:05 PM) No he wouldn't, because he'd agree with me. hahaaa...oh I'm sure he would.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 04:05 PM) That's right over the plate. lol...Hawk would spit in your face if you called that a strike.

quite frankly one of the worst displays of D1 football I've ever seen right down to the ridiculousness of 2 dozen flags already. Tellin ya...I've seen some horrible horrible officiating this year already in college football...probably some of the worst I've ever seen.
-
whoever that was that predicted a 2-1 game today...good call! lol...
-
sorry guys...regardless of what anybody's little pitch tracker says...or tweets...or whatever...share with me what world this is ever called a strike. You just never get that call...nor should you.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Surely you're not talking about the one right down the middle called a ball, right? sorry...didn't think it was even close regardless of badly Contreras framed it. When you have to backhand a ball that's low and away?...that's a strike now?
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) LOL, Lackey and Contreras ejected in the 5th inning today. Anytime you can get both your starting pitcher and catcher ejected in the middle of a September pennant race game, that's impressive. lol @ Mouthbreather...what an idiot. Still not sure what Contreras said to get ejected...but mouthbreather deserved it. And then having to listen to the Cub announcers whine about that previous pitch being a strike...it wasn't even close.

QUOTE (GermanSock @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) It would really suck to fall back to 4 or even 5, there often is a big drop off in quality after the top3 picks and the bonus money also gets worse. Really 4 or 10 isn't that big of a difference, the biggest gaps in talent you find at the top. Doesn't mean you cant find a star at 4 but generally the expectation shifts from star to average regular when you go back to the mid part of the top10. Oh I disagree...it's really a crap shoot with any of these guys. But having Singer, Turang, Kelenic, Rocker, Gray, Beer, Hankins, Kowar? Would I rather pick 2nd or 3rd...sure. But it's not the end of the world. Honestly...I'd rather see this group of guys finish the season having great success and carrying it over into next year...than wallow to the finish line. But honestly...the remaining schedule after Detroit is no picnic. Sox will be fine...

You left Eaton off the list again lol. I'm very thankful they decided to rebuild when they did. You probably don't end up with Yoan, Kopech, Jimenez and the haul from the Nats. You just have no clue who would have been available. I'm done looking back...like what lies ahead.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 07:45 PM) How many top 50 position player prospects does it take to produce one guy, who ever puts up a year like the one Avi is having? Look, I love these young prospects and the whole rebuild, as much as anyone, but at some point, it seems like you have to appreciate the rare successes and try to hang on to them. Avi is a young guy, and has many years of his prime before him. I hope that they extend him and lock him up for the next 5 or 6 years, to take him through his prime. He and Abreu, who could ultimately move to DH, could comprise half of the middle of the order, for the upcoming window of contention, beginning in 2019. I want both of them on that roster. I hope that Moncada becomes a Tim Raines, Ricky Henderson type lead off guy. If you plug Jimenez into the middle of the order and add one big left handed bat, you have the run production needed to win a lot of games. Beyond the production, there are a also few intangibles that come with keeping guys like Jose and Avi. Jose is a terrific leader and club house guy. Both could provide some important veteran presence, on what will be a very young team. There is also something about the camaraderie of maintaining a core of guys, and not turning over the entire roster. It is also difficult to build fan loyalty to a revolving door of prospects. I just don't think that the success rate of prospects is high enough to trade away every prospect that works out, for the hope and "promise" of more and more prospects Excellent post....

Bader and Dakota Hudson would grab my interest...

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) For my own selfish reasons, the only thing I look forward to when I wake up every morning is Cody Asche's Blue Steel. is that a euphemism for morning wood?...
