  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 05:57 PM) You don't "Buy it'? AND you're going to criticize "lefties"? Turn off Alex Jones. lol...what a canned reply. May shock you...I don't listen to any talk radio...nor do I watch Fox news. I'll criticize lefties since most of the first things out of their mouths was pinning this on Republicans.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) Getting 100+ dingers out of your corner outfielders would be decent... As intriguing as that sounds...I just don't like the cost.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 04:50 PM) They are apparently pretty hard to control, but when you're firing into a huge crowd of 20k people and don't care who you're hitting, that's not really much of a problem. We'll see what the final details say, but the audio signatures of the gun fire show somewhat uneven but still very rapid fire. That would seem to indicate something like the technically legally bump fire stocks rather than an illegal actual full-auto modification. As long as he didn't actually modify the gun to fully automatic, he was 100% legal until he broke the window (minor property crime) and started firing. The amount of planning that went seems to have gone into this does rule out trying to label this as "someone snapped." This wasn't a heat of the moment thing. The fact this guys has never been a "gun guy" or showed any interest in guns...had zero military or training background (this all according to his brother)...and all of a sudden has tens of thousands of dollars of weapons and ammo....that doesn't seem ultra strange to people? Hell...I still don't buy the Aurora, CO shooting...just too many eye witness accounts and things that didn't add up. This story is starting to sound like one of those IMO. Like I said...I just don't subscribe to Occams Razor. And things like this happen...and all it does is open up the doors for lefties and people like Kimmell to take their public soap box and blame Republicans to try and stir the masses. Good luck....
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 04:55 PM) This argument is so f***ing dumb. I can't believe people still believe that myth. A state law isn't going to do a damn thing when every surrounding state doesn't restrict gun ownership and Illinois' laws aren't particularly strict on gun ownership either. Also, if we are going to play that game, I believe Louisiana and Missouri are known for having lax gun laws. You may want to check out St. Louis and New Orleans' murder rates. Hint: They are substantially higher than Chicago. Ahhh...by that brilliant argument then we should all have Illinois type gun laws? That'll fix it!!!! I live in AZ...I don't have to check out s***. We have open carry as well as being able to conceal carry without a license. Besides the random things you'd find in a large city...we don't have a fraction of the crap that goes Chicago. And AZ still has to deal with being a border state. Bottom line is no amount of legislation is going to stop things like this no matter how much lefties whine over it.
  5. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) Would rather keep the prospects, the $250M+, try to extend Avi and stay the course of the rebuild. this is where I'm at. No thanks. Enjoy Yankee pinstripes Giancario.....
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) He had one of the bump fire shoulder stocks that allowed him to fire at a very high rate with a gun that was technically still a semi-automatic and 100% a-okay with the ATF. Up until he broke that window, he had broken no laws by amassing 20+ rifles with optics and large capacity magazines in a hotel room overlooking 20,000 people. In the handful of minutes after his first illegal act, he was able to fire over a thousand rounds on the crowd, killing 59 and wounding over 500. Right up until that point, he was a law-abiding citizen, one of the Good Guys With A Gun. I'm not even particularly pro-gun control, but the pro-gun crowd should recognize that this situation was sort of the absolute worst as far as the hypotheticals from gun control proponents goes. There's nothing in place to stop what this man did before he did it, and there's nothing stopping someone else from amassing similar completely legal firepower today. yeah...those are called Slide Fires...and honestly I think they should be banned and I'm as pro gun as there is. Actually those Slide Fires are ridiculously hard to use...much less from that distance...so he sure must have done some real practice. I've shot them a handful of times and quite honestly think they're idiotic and very hard to control. But besides his Slid Fire...if he had modified semi autos to fire fully auto...he's no longer a law-abiding citizen. This entire story seems extremely odd besides simply being tragic. I'm not one to ever just subscribe to Occam's Razor...but this entire event makes absolutely zero sense from so many angles to simply say "someone snapped". It really does no good going back and forth with these arguments because nothing short of complete banning and confiscation would satisfy the anti gun masses...and that's just plain not going to happen. I'm all for common sense gun laws...but not everyone is going to be happy. Has Illinois' ridiculously strict gun laws prevented gun violence?....
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 01:42 PM) He broke no laws prior to the incident. It is totally legal to buy huge numbers of after-market modified assault rifles rigged for fully automatic firing. It is fully legal to stockpile thousands of rounds of ammunition. The reason nothing could have been done is that one party wants guys like this to be able to buy arsenals and they have made the laws such that it will continue to happen. Wait....what? Not sure what you're saying here...that it's ok to buy huge numbers of semi automatic ARs or AKs (that can be converted)? Actually it's illegal to convert a semi automatic rifle to fire fully auto...the part is actually illegal from what I understand. I'm not sure what you mean by saying it's legal to buy "after market modified assault rifles fully rigged for fully automatic firing". That is completely false. You can purchase fully automatic weapons legally...but you have to have a Class III license that goes thru the ATF and they must be registered and have paperwork with them at all times. It's costly...and a ton of red tape...and most of the time you have to have a FFL license. And actually They changed the law probably 5 or 6 years ago that stated that if anyone tried to buy 2 or more weapons at one time it's automatically reported to the ATF. There are laws in place that flag large and oft purchasers.
  8. Woooow...this could get juicy. I can't even fathom getting Maitan either...good Lord that would be sick.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 12:23 PM) I'm excited everyone has decided that Trubisky is ready to get regular season action and will remind myself to be patient with the process, especially recognizing how terrible our wideouts are, etc. Yeah...I'm not expecting miracles...but I'm sure you'll see a better product moving forward. I truly hope they activate Gentry too...given what you just mentioned with sketchy WRs...he and Trubisky had nice chemistry this camp. I'd like to see that continue....
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) The Bears invested a lot in Trubisky and they need to make decisions which maximize that potential investment and put him in the best position to succeed and excel long-term. I'm not going to pretend to know what that answer is, but that is all that matters. And I think it is highly likely that the front office and coaching staff might disagree on the "when" answer, with Fox being more likely to want to turn to the rookie sooner vs. later. Additionally, Fox has actually succeeded with younger QB's in the past in his career. Your opinion of Fox as being some stubborn guy has more to do with how he handles the media (which is completely ignores them with non-answers and never throws players on the bus, etc.) vs. the reality of the situation. Good point about Fox. I'm not sure where it's all coming from. I even saw a story this morning that this has been a Pace mandate to not play him (which baffles me). But they honestly could not keep trotting out Mike Glennon and all his ineptness. They were losing fans...and quite frankly I think they were losing the locker room somewhat if they decided to keep trotting him out there. Players were getting PO'd. I'm not going to pretend to know what's best either...but when you see rookies like Watson have the success they've had so far...it almost forced the Bears hand with this. As for your first sentence...I wish the Bears would have felt that same way with Cutler and actually built him a solid OL...and stabilized that OC circus they had going on. They did't do too good with that investment IMO. I know this is different somewhat...but still.
  11. I got that the organization FINALLY saw that a rebuild was necessary and masterfully took steps in starting the process. And I couldn't be happier with the results!!! It seems everyone is re-energized and it's great to see. And for where they finished in the standings...you'd think it would have been miserable to watch...but I found it quite the opposite...especially the 2nd half of the season. Can't remember enjoying watching this much in a long long time. What a bright bright future lies ahead for this team. And I have confidence that Hahn will shore up the pen before camp...
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 11:53 PM) So the comment about people putting me on a pedestal ....and I should stick to medicine because you doubt my football knowledge wasn't directed to me. I'm not allowed to have opinion other than medical ones wasn't either? The future of the Bears success depends on Trubiskey. The entire decision making process of when to play him should revolve around when he is ready. It shouldn't mater if everyone except his mother thinks Glennon sucks. He is irrelevant to the Bears future. What the teammates think is irrelevant because Glennon is irrelevant. He is just the place holder until Trubiskey is ready and everyone knew it as soon as Trubiskey was drafted. I've said all along that he should play when he is ready, whether that was the first game this year or next year. I've given reasons as to why he may not be ready and reasons why the coaches may not be playing him. So far your answer as to why he should be playing is that Glennon sucks and every knows it, that he played well in the pre-season and from your intimate knowledge of the team, they have zero confidence in him. No offense but I still like my rationale better and will stick with this opinion. ok...I'll just say...I disagree with your opinion (that you keep repeating like a broken record). So your opinion is he's not ready (regardless of the fact you stated you'd like to see him start)...lol ok. Again...we'll find out next monday. But keep throwing out the word "irrelevant". You don't think guys like Hicks standing up and stating "changes need to be made and to make changes that put the team in a better position to succeed" aren't directed at Glennon and the coaching staff?!?!? hahahaa...geezus. If that's not a damning statement...not sure what to tell ya. I'd venture to say he's not the only one that feels that way...and whether you agree or not...those opinions do matter. And I'd venture to say they see it every day in practice...those comments are pretty telling I'd say. It's called "losing a team" from a coaches standpoint. Sorry...if you can't see that. And fyi...my answer as to why he should be playing is based on what I've seen from Trubisky to date and his abilities (as many others have)...in my opinion he's ready...and yes...he'll make mistakes. But won't look like an incompetent boob out there like Glennon has. So quit twisting my words to fit your narrative. Seems Watson is ready down in Houston with his 5 td passes today (and honestly he looked completely unprepared in preseason). Kizer...meh...bad example. Russell Wilson was ready. Jameis Winston was ready. Trubisky has shown he's very capable. If you think it's better to handle him with kid gloves...cool...your opinion. Again...we'll find out soon enough. No offense..but I like my option/opinion much better as well...and so does most of Chicago sans a few. If they throw him out there and he looks completely over his head...I'll admit I'm wrong. But I wont' judge on one game. But it's time to move forward with him...
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 09:57 PM) not sure why you think you need to attack me personally about this. It really hurts my feeling when you say you doubt my football knowledge. Yes, it would be the best scenario to give a rookie the best preparation for a game. That doesn't mean that is what the coaches feel is best. I do think your opinion is wrong and is based purely on not liking the way Glennon is playing. And my opinion is that this is the wrong way to approach this. Glennon has no bearing on the future of this franchise. Trubiskey does. I'm still not sure why anyone would want to risk that just for the chance of a few wins on a bad team. Does phrasing it with the word opinion in it make it better? Of course they are my opinions. However, my opinions don't count as much as the coach's do, because of their intimate knowledge of the situation and experience, which you seem to think is less important than your knowledge and experience in this situation. Oh stop...nobody is attacking you. You just threw out all this stuff about "not in his best interest"...and then claimed you'd like to see him start. Which is it? You also claim it makes no difference what his teammates think. Of course it does! Other teams have no problem doing this (starting rookies). Trubisky is ready...he's been ready. Fox is just a stubborn ass...but that's neither here nor there. It Glennon's teammates have zero confidence in him...you don't think that's an issue? You claim my opinion is based on "not liking how Glennon is playing"....lol...ummmmm....I think 99% of Chicago feels the same way. It's based on the fact that Glennon absolutely stinks and they have to spoon feed him plays so he doesn't get killed back there and it completely limits what the offense can do. He's horrible! You put the best player out there. They've had how many months now to prepare Trubisky? And I don't care if you want to claim he was playing against 2nd or 3rd string D...he still made plays. Stop and think...he made plays play WITH 2nd and 3rd string O. He's ready. And yes...he'll still make rookie mistakes. But this team will be better with his rookie mistakes than Glennon's complete ineptness that handcuffs the entire team. I get your point of coddling him til "he's ready"...I just don't buy that form of preparedness....not with this scenario. Trubisky is head and shoulders more capable of running this offense that the Giraffe.....
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 06:57 PM) Yes. Seriously, every player there knows what Trubiskey looks like in practice. They also know that starting him with anything less than full preparation is foolish. He didn't have problems with decision making in the preseason because A. the teams did not run true defenses, B. they didn't game plan for him and C. Half the time he did roll outs to trim his decision making to half the field. none of that will cut it in the regular season. He may start next game, that would be my choice but the coaching staff knows if he is ready or not. Do you truly think Fox is purposely playing the worse QB? His job is on the line. The only thing that would change this would be if PACE is ordering it. Wait...you're saying it's your choice he's start next game...then throw out all this bulls*** arguing it?!??!? hahaha....just stop...honestly. First off...Fox is a effin idiot...he's stubborn...and has always been this way with rookies. It's not really how today's NFL works. Your assertion the team "know's starting him is foolish" has zero basis...it's pure conjecture on your part. You don't know....regardless of how knowledgeable you think you are with all this...it's your opinion. I know people put you on this pedestal here with your medical knowledge and all...cool...good for you. Stick to that...because honestly I'm doubting your football knowledge right now with these comments. They're your opinions...I get that. But don't spout them like it's etched in stone.
  15. After Walter Payton...Larry Fitzgerald is by far my all-time favorite player. Only other team jersey I own is a #11 Cardinal jersey. Besides being a complete class act on and off the field...he still produces on the field at a ridiculously high rate. Clutch game winner today Larry!!!
  16. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) The starting OL is completely healthy. Furthermore, I'm done with the "Trubisky isn't ready yet." You know what, evidently Glennon isn't either. He is not ready to start for any professional football team. We should expect Trubisky to struggle and make mistakes BECAUSE HE IS A ROOKIE. Glennon is making rookie mistakes as a veteran in an offense requires him to do next to nothing. He is pathetic. evidently Watson is ready. 5 td passes today. Yeah...the whole "Trubisky isn't ready" argument is idiotic.
  17. I get a chuckle from people that call baseball boring anymore...good lord...IMO football has FAR SURPASSED it in boring moments. Every time you flip on a channel there's either a commercial or some idiotic review for the 10th time in a half....or the halftime or pregame blabberers. When you go to a game you spend most of your time with your thumb up your arse waiting for tv timeouts...or again...some review. They spend more downtime. It's part of the reason football is losing me...among other reasons. Another being...hey dipsh**...when you make a play just go back to the huddle and quit acting like a WWE idiot. And don't even get me going on the flags every other play... Not a shocker people are turning it off. Sure you watch your team...but I'm not going to sit there watching as a "football fan" anymore....I just won't do it. It's hard enough just watching your team.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 09:26 PM) Glennon's play should absolutely no impact on the decision to play Trubiskey. Who cares what the rest of the team thinks right now. The decision should be purely based on what is best for trubiskey in the long term. If he is having difficulty with decision making in practice or the film room, you don't play him. These type of issues will get him, the receivers and the o-line injured. If find it hard to believe that Fox wouldn't play him if he thought Trubiskey gave him the best chance to win. Fox's job is on the line and he knows it. The only other factor would be if Pace told Fox not to play him and then the point is moot. lol...ok. We'll see next Monday won't we. Who cares what the rest of the team thinks?????....seriously?....mkay. They decision is what's best for the team. He sure as hell didn't look like he had trouble with decision making in preseason did he? And please with the getting people injured bs...geezus. Again...we'll see next monday...he'll start.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) The problem is the receivers will be the same. If they throw Mitch in there, he may do worse than Glennon. I feel sorry for him. Expectations are that he is a HOFer, and he has A York high school like receiving corp. Glendon has sucked. No one except maybe Jim Miller will tell you otherwise. But the Bears QB is set up to fail, just like Fox is. Fox has to win to save his job. They gave him a roster with little talent, and used their best asset on a guy they didn't want him to play. Belicheck could be named the coach tomorrow and they would still suck really bad. You will know the Bears are serious about actually winning when guys like Kevin White aren't counted on to remain healthy for more than 5 minutes. lol...I'll throw a C note down right now that Trubisky doesn't look a fraction of the incompetent boob Glennon looks like right now. The thing you're missing is when you have a QB that's rolling out of the pocket...and can actually run it shifts the defense...they have to accommodate for his mobility and it'll leave receivers open more. It changes the offense completely. Fans just want to see progress with the young guys and the team...with Glennon they took 3 steps back. Nobody is...I guess I'm not anyway...anointing Trubisky as a HOFer. BUT...what we will see is a capable QB back there that'll make plays with his arm and legs. Sure he'll make rookie mistakes...and most Bear fans can live with that. But I suspect you'll see a kid that actually has his s*** together back there and doesn't look like a deer in the headlights. I think this team will have some confidence in him as well....
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) They have one more thing in common, getting majorly overhyped simply because they are white UDFA wide receivers. The entire league could have claimed Gentry off waivers recently and chose not to. Are we to believe that Ryan Pace is just that much smarter than everyone else? Well Pace thinks he is, but that's a different topic. I hope Gentry proves me wrong, but let's take a step back here. what they don't have in common is Sanzenbacher was actually given a chance to show what he can do...Gentry has not...which I find ridiculous given the steaming heap this WR corp is. Hopefully when Trubisky takes over that'll change. I just think they have a little more chemistry than he does with the other WRs since they spent a ton of time together. Look...I'm not annointing him the next Jerry Rice...but the kid's got some skills...and stubborn ass Fox refuses to acknowledge.
  21. I think the entire team knows Glennon sucks...and if you saw Hicks comments about change and hope they make a change and put the team in the best position to win...that kind of says it all right there IMO. It has to be frustrating for both the D and offense. At least put the kid out there and see what you have. It's ridiculous you couldn't even let him get his feet wet last night just for a quarter...even half a quarter. I mean honestly...think of your own job...if your job success was dependent on somebody else that absolutely sucked...wouldn't that start to piss you off? Bears have toed the company line so far...but I think that's coming to an end. Developing is one thing...he's already shown he's got the talent...he just needs some OJT. He'll be fine. He'll make mistakes...sure...but nothing compared to the stiff that Glennon is. Good lord is he bad. Also have heard rumblings that it's already been decided that Mitchy is starting next Monday...some dude named Ben Albright has thrown it out there that he's getting all kinds of texts with that info.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 06:13 AM) We are at the point now that Shaheen and Gentry are considered weapons? Gentry is the new Sanzenbacher. the only comparison that Gentry and Sanz have are they're both white UDFAs...that's were it ends. You realize that Gentry is 6-2 215...where Sanz was 5-10 and about a buck 85. Night and day difference from what I've seen. The problem (or one of them) with Fox is he's really stunting the growth of this team IMO. When Trubisky starts finally I want to see both Shaheen and Gentry in the lineup...let them build off the chemistry they had in camp coming in together. There was obvious chemistry there...whether people want to admit it or not...it's very important. I still for the life of me can't see what Fox sees in Bellamy?
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 10:45 PM) Not a good game. To me this game seals fox being gone next year. Obviously barring a run to the playoffs, but seeing another game like htis in primetime, i just doubt that happens more and more. Treviathan should be gone for the rest of the season as far as I'm concerned. Glennon is just bad. He's just bad. Our passrush doesn't exist. Oh hey, another jordy nelson touchdown. I'm so done with this team until that stubborn ass Fox is gone. I literally hate him with all me being right now. There's no rhyme nor reason not to play Trubisky...even for a half in a game like this. Eff you Fox! Can't wait til he's gone. As for our pass rush...or lack thereof...that shine has certainly come off that Fangio star for me. There's zero pressure...and honestly I can't even remember the last time someone blitzed on this team. Pathetic. I'll probably watch the next game but only because it's on Monday night...but after that...I'm not watching again until that worthless ass Glennon's ass is firmly planted on the bench. Good lord. I get the restrictions you have and all..but when I almost flipped a gourd was at the end of the first half...right before they scored...the clock was winding down and instead of being a leader...and calling TO...he's looking around like a little scared school girl...looking at the bench saying "what do I do"....it was kind of embarrassing. He's a placeholder...but honestly...this team (mostly because of Fox) has lost me. I just don't give a s*** after a mere 4 games. Shove it Virginia.....
  24. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) Sox vs Cubs in late September seems odd. completely ridiculous if you ask me. However...how sweet would that be if the Cubs were vying for a playoff spot and the Sox knocked them out of contention.
  25. It means FINALLY not being friggin Africa-hot out here!!!! Agree with ya about football...I really find myself just not caring more and more with each passing season. People bag on baseball for being boring...but good lord...go to a football game and count the minutes you're sitting there with your thumb up your arse waiting for either the tv timeouts to be over....and another mindless review. It's gotten unbearable honestly. Baseball is...and will always be the best sport in my mind. This offseason is a little different in terms of the Sox...the major deals are already done (for the most part)...sign a few bullpen pieces...and wait for spring. I don't want to wish it away...because like Jimmy said...I'm at the opposite end...when baseball starts it means Africa-hot isn't too far off. Personally...I'm so ready to move out of this oven!!! Wish I could be a snowbird lol.
