  1. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) I've read where the Orioles will offer Manny Machado a big contract this off season. Baltimore has indicated that if he turns down their offer they will probably trade him. That being said, I hope the White Sox offer Garcia a long term contract. If he turns it down, trade him. I hope Garcia remains a member of the White Sox. After the White Sox sign Garcia I'm hoping they sign Addison Reed and JD Martinez to long term contracts. No thanks to Reed for reasons everyone has mentioned. As for JD Martinez...everything I've read and heard come out of his mouth out here in PHX...he's enamored with the DBacks so far and would love to stay out here. He wants to be on a team that's contending now...not a few years from now is what he's said.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) I don't think the Sox have interest in extending him at what his asking price probably will be. Hahn was pretty clear in his non-commitment to Avi. That is Rick Hahn speak for yeah...curious as to what kind of return we'd be looking at...and what teams would want him. STL?
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) That might have been the most lackluster homerun call I've ever heard from Hawk. probably didn't even see it lol...
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 10:05 PM) That banner is leading us to a championship. lol...okaaaaay
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 09:12 PM) I think you see a boost when we start seeing guys like Eloy and Kopech make their debuts and we don't have to see Cody Asche's face at the top of this page!!!!!!!!!!
  6. this team is awful fun to watch...just a breath of fresh air from years past. Growing pains...sure...but well worth it moving forward.
  7. Hard to say who they would have brought in to play center field....maybe Granderson? We'd probably be contending for a WC spot...that's about it IMO. I will say this...I THANK GOD they decided to do it when they did or you wouldn't have guys you do now and your returns would look a ton different if you would have waited til this off-season.
  8. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 09:33 PM) He has looked completely and absolutely lost so far. Time to start worrying yet? I'm sure as hell worrying about him. I know he is young, but I have a good eye for baseball and I'm not liking what I'm seeing. We have to hope he is like buxton and turns it around at SOME point. that's debatable...
  9. good lord...is anyone listening to the Giants broadcast? It's like a funeral parlor...
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 05:56 AM) How bad is it? I stopped reading anything from Levine a while ago. All he does is regurgitate what someone else has written. Congrats to Kopech on a great season. Made some big strides. hahaaaa....he edited it of course (after a few of us mocked his ass on twitter)...he said Kopech came over with Giolito and Dunning in the Eaton trade and was later referring about his time with the Nationals and how good it was for him. Looked like a complete uninformed boob...
  11. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/09/06/mic...-for-next-step/ Nice write up Levine lol...geezus.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 6, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) I wonder why Cohen isn't returning kicks. he might come game time. Bears pretty much kept him under wraps for the most part the last 2 games. I don't think they wanted to show their hand with him...or TE usage very much. We'll see. Glad Trubs is #2. The stiff giraffe better figure out how to get out of the pocket or he'll get killed back there.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 05:33 PM) I think throughout his tenure there could be an argument he is cheap. I'm amazed so many fans seem to think the lower the payroll the better. It's like any significant contract is scorned right now during the rebuild. The Sox aren't moving as we have discussed ad nauseum so why shouldn't the Sox owner make less profit and have a high payroll to go with the Robert signing? Jerry should buy you frugal people a few drinks at least this offseason. He should meet you in the bar and thank u for your position. I'm serious by the way. A lot of cities would run an owner out of town for not having a high payroll in a city as big as Chicago. Joey Belle and Pudge Fisk say "Shaddup Greg"!!! You equate throwing money around willy-nilly (love that phrase btw) to being a good owner? Maybe Jerry should buy you a new attitude...your shtick has gotten pretty stale. And no...I'm not offended. Go be a Cub fan for crap sakes...
  14. That "Jerry is cheap" argument is ridiculously stale...good lord. Yet somehow...he still goes out and lands Robert. That being said and back to Avi...like many have stated...unless it's a very nice offer for Avi this offseason... I don't move him. If he continues this torrid pace next year...then you're looking at a nice return at deadline for someone that needs a bat. You don't trade him just for the fact of trading him. He's worked hard elevating his game...and still young. Not a bad problem to have whether you keep him or not and Sox are finally in a nice position to not be forced to make any deals.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) I'm pretty into fishing, primarily bass, but I'll go after Northern/Muskies, too. In the south, I tend to like catfishing. A few years back I met a guy out here...we were trailering our pontoons at the same time and struck up a convo. Dude had the wackiest set up...actually lengthened his pontoon...put a sink he pumped water out of the lake for...had a big nasty lazy boy recliner on it lol...but it was set up for BIG cats! He told me what he does...for the 15-18lbers he'd use blue gills or small pan fish and cut the fins and score them. What he'd usually go for (and he holds the state record out here for flathead...his nickname is Flathead Ed lol...Ed Wilcoxson)..he's use a 2-3lb carp and do the same thing...cut fins and score. I agree tho...sitting back fishing at night with a beer...can't beat that!
  16. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) I love to go fishing. I tell myself every year that I'm going to fish more than I did the year before, but I never seem to get out as much as I'd like. I am making a more conscious effort this year, especially now that I've got my son a lot more interested. When I lived in NC and AK, I fished several times a week. And in both those places I knew where to go, what to use for bait, etc. I'm still trying to figure out where to fish around here. I spend a good amount of time on the DuPage River in Shorewood and Joliet. Tried a few ponds and actually found a pond very close to the house that is chock full of bullheads with even a few big ones. My son caught a 4-5 pounder, which is what I think really got him excited about fishing. We spent the day at Milliken Lake yesterday. Caught a few small carp and one bass. I'm still looking for more spots to try. I don't really care what I catch. But my son wants to catch a big carp...so that's my mission now. I used to make that drive down to Bartlett Lake for some of those monster black crappie in the coves. Growing up back there...river fishing...as sell as the stone quarries were a ton of fun. There's a little lake north of LeRoy I used to hit too...Dawson Lake (believe it's called Moraine View State Park IIRC) that I pulled some nice fish out of. Out here...if there's any water at all...it gets inundated rather quickly.
  17. I've been trying to hit it hard again (but been having too much downtime due to being Africa-hot out here in AZ)...but starting to hit it more again gearing up for fall. I've been primarily doing it from a kayak...which has really been a blast...but does have it's downsides out here. Not too many good places to go close by mostly. Debating whether to upgrade my kayak...or just splurge on a boat here this year. Getting out on the yaks tho is a blast and nice exercise. We're hitting the Salt River this weekend and plan on flipping some Senkos. One thing I might try the next month tho that's relatively new to me is Neko Rigging...which is primarily a Wacky Rig with a nail weight in the nose (using an O-ring). Another...which not many people have done out here but starting to at the smally lakes....using the TRDs on a mushroom head.
  18. gahhh....I have some family down there that's feeling a bit uneasy. I'd hope people would be smart enough to bail early if you're going to bail instead of waiting. Hard to say what this one will be like compared to Harvey. That being said...with all the attention given to Harvey (and rightfully so)...and this upcoming Irma...half of Montana has gone up in flames without much notoriety. Horrible what's happening up in that beautiful part of the country.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) This weekend showed how sloppy CFB is, how bad the refs are, and how excessively long the games are. But damn is it entertaining. I can't speak for too many other games...but the ASU opener was probably THE WORST officiated football game I've ever seen. I get that it's their first game (refs) and all after having a long layoff...but good lord...they were absolutely clueless out there. And one other thing...I get using replay for sports anymore...you want the calls to be right...but I'm ready to scrap it altogether and just live with bad calls. Replay is really ruining sports (especially football). People whine about baseball being boring and slow...but I swear...you spend more time sitting around with twittling your thumbs doing nothing with football than any other sport. Between tv timeouts and excessive replays...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 10:22 PM) Kevin Sumlin called... lol...yeah...jumped the gun on that one huh. But I still think Mora his horribly overrated and does less with more every single year.
  21. Is there's more overrated coach in college football...who continually does less with more talent than Jim Mora?
  22. The Bears released RB Jeremy Langford, TE Ben Braunecker and LS Jeff Overbaugh to make room for the three players Chicago were awarded off waivers. surprised about Langford. If Carey wouldn't have been injured I'd have thought he would get cut...but not once Carey went on IR.
  23. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 07:57 AM) The Bears are in the wrong era with that roster. Jesus. 5 TE, 4 RB. And a full back! Headscratcher for me too. Only two things I can think of...either a. they were trying to work a trade for Miller. or b. They're going with 2 TE sets for max protection so Glennon's stiff ass doesn't get killed back there. Happy Gentry passed thru waivers...that one would have pissed me off bad! A guy I'd have like to have seen claimed is Dorian Johnson from the Cardinals....
