QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) It's funny to see how Cubs fans value Schwarber and how all other fanbase value him now. People on northsidebaseball.com were pissed at the thought of the Babe for Michael Fulmer. Where as every other fanbase thought it was a joke of an offer. I personally think he's overrated in Cubsdom, but will still be a very nice DH at some point. Certainly not a headliner for Q anymore though. Hear ya. Does Fulmer have much value to add to any of these packages?...

Did Reinsdorf sell Bulls Draftee to sign Jake Burger?
Wanne replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) This story has been floating NBA circles a lot today for whatever reason. Basically the gist of it is the Bulls received 3.5 million for a draft pick the same day they signed Jake Burger. The Robert signing also thrown in there. Most NBA people seem to believe it. Seems ridiculous given that Reinsdorf probably doesn't even own more than 50% of the Sox (or the Bulls?) And the transfer of funds is not that simple. Who in "NBA circles" started that ridiculous crock O crap? Like everybody has stated...they're complete idiots..... -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:45 PM) But if you hang on to him he's not going to keep his peak value. It will only go down, and then you'll have to settle for even less or waste pretty much his entire contract/value by keeping him. glass half full...personally I'd roll the dice he keeps his value if it's an underwhelming offer. Again...it depends on the return.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:24 PM) I mean I LOVE Quintana, but idk if that's true. I just don't know if it's possible to argue that he will provide real value to our next contender, and almost as hard to argue that his value will ever be higher than it is today. At some point, his value is what it is. I hear what yer sayin'....but I don't want to "settle" for an underwhelming return. Quintana has ridiculous value...and if he's at peak value...you don't settle. Of course that's just my 2¢...

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:07 PM) We can be reasonably confident that whatever Hahn gets for Quintana is gonna be the best possible package. He's been shopping him hard for like ten months. It might be less than we wish, but it's safe to say it'll be the market rate. less than we wish is one thing...but completely underwhelming is another. I'd rather keep him if that's the case...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) With all of the other trades the White Sox have to be making before this deadline, I just can't see them being able to put together a deal that accurately reflects the value of Kahnle from their point of view. Wholeheartedly agree. It would have to be an overwhelming offer IMO. Personally he's the one guy I really don't want traded...unless another team insists on him in a package but that trade WILL cost that team top pick(s).

I just read something from Heyman (not sure if this was posted before...I don't scan every post in a 48 pg thread) that the Sox were asking for Torres and Frazier as the return. Seems a tad steep....but who knows.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are greg BWHAHAHAAAAAA....geezus...I almost spit beer out my nose on that! hahaaa... -
QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 06:29 PM) Add Swarzak and it would be incredibly hard for them to say no. Robles and Soto is like a slightly less Moncada and Kopech. Kieboom and Fedde wouldn't fill out just a Q package but Robertson and Swarzak would necessitate it. You give them the best shot at making the World Series. Man if Eaton didn't get hurt that would make them terrifying. The Nats simply aren't trading their top 4 prospects in one swoop...they just aren't.

QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 07:58 PM) Kahnle being so good is exactly why I want him to be traded. Always sell high on relievers if you're a non contending team. I get that...but you can't be assured of what the return ends up being. Kahnle is still young. I'm not down with trading guys like Kahnle just for the sake of being able to trade him or his "value" to some other team. Of course it all hinges on what the return is....

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) In the end this game came down to Shields being Shields. pretty much. Bagging on Kahnle for the loss is ridiculous...but not surprising. lol...disappointed is the last thing I'll be if Kahnle is still on this team even going into next year.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) What are you trying to accomplish with this argument? It's okay to think Adolfo is an overrated prospect, but you seem to be arguing that we should just release him immediately. Why? We all understand that he has swing and miss issues. We're hoping that he corrects them around the time he can legally drink. Exactly. Idiotic argument honestly. The kid is 20 years old...with massive upside. But by all means...lets focus on one nitpickyass thing...and give up on him lol. Geezus...

that was fun to watch...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) With what we have gotten out of Smith and Narvaez so far this year, should the White Sox put in a claim on Miguel Montero? F*** NO!

QUOTE (soxtalker999 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) I don't understand the reluctance to trade with the Cubs (or any other team). I hope that Quintana makes whatever team gets him stronger -- now. But whatever we get from them, makes us stronger in 3 years - and them weaker in that time frame. I also don't understand the interest in Schwarber. It's not about whether he's a good player now. Based on his play last WS, I'm willing to assume that he is. But I'd rather see us get back players who are a bit earlier in their development -- ones that still need to spend at least one more year in the minors and preferably more. Schwarber, if he is as good as the Cubs hope he is, will be playing in the majors almost immediately. That means his price is higher. Let's use the time we have to our advantage to get better prospects that still need some time to get to the big leagues. Not sure there's a reluctance on anyone's part but the Cubs. I also think it's because it's fairly obvious that his future is in the AL...and he'd be the LH power bat the Sox have needed (if he gets it back together...which he will). Hell I'd do it just to hear the diehard northsider dreamers boohoo it for years...lol. He was just shoved atop a pedestal way too early by Cub fans and media. A Quintana trade to the Cubs makes a ton of sense for them...but agree with many...I doubt the Cubs would pull the trigger. Who knows...

Hard to say until after the trade deadline. As of right now...to this date from the time the decided to move Sale...probably 8. If they get a ton of pieces at deadline or after...has to be a 10. But between the trades and last two drafts...I love the direction this franchise is taking!

2017-2018 NHL discussion thread

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 11:00 PM) Also, I know nothing about the 2 guys we got back from Phoenix, so I'll have to rely on some Hawks blogs for scouting reports. You'll love Connor Murphy! Big kid...handles the puck pretty well and physical...loves to get his nose in it. I'm not a Yotes fan but watched them a lot being out here...and he was one of my faves. Good kid and gets after it. Don't know much about Dauphin... -
AWESOME read...thanks for posting!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) Garcia will be a $10 million in arbitration this year if he anywhere close to keeps up this season. The arb system isn't as much about raises as it is comps. RF's who hit .340 and put up .900+ OPSs get paid big time, and this is year #2 of arb when those numbers start to explode. Next year the same sort of numbers will get him in the range of $15 million, maybe more, if he goes through the arb system. If Garcia has held out this long to be extended, it tells me that he thinks he can get paid in free agency. For what it would take to get his attention and give up free agency, I am not willing to go there. Offer him 5/$50...seems fairly safe for both sides IMO. I know he's having an ungodly year...but he really does look like a different player. I would probably go 5/$60M if it got right down to it. I really don't want to trade him for some sketchy unknowns you HOPE turn out worth a crap.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 02:06 PM) The Cubs and Astros had everything that could go wrong go right. Everything. I am kind of upset the statniks are out there supporting the alleged snails pace rebuild. Their enjoyment of the so called rebuild takes our miserable front office (KW) off the hook for being unable to put together a division title contending team despite the presence of a handful of incredibly good players on the roster year after year. They wasted my time and yours with Robin at the helm for gawd sakes. TOTAL WASTE OF YEARS. We've had great closers. We've had Sale. We've had Abreu. We've had a decent to good nucleus that with the proper tinkering could have given us nirvana baseball the past 10 years. But nooooo. Oh well I can dream of Ozzie and the 05 team as I wait on this rebuild. p.s. Fulmer and Rodon better be great or the alleged rebuild takes a hit early on. There's no in between for you is there? They either have to be great...or the completely suck. Dude...relax and enjoy watching a young team grow. Sox fans have b****ed about this for years and the FO FINALLY does it...and you're not happy about it. I'll agree with you on Ventura...he should have been gone two years ago and just a stopgap from Ozzie. But c'mon...snailspace? It just started. Geezus.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 10:53 PM) I haven't gotten to watch as many games this year as I have in previous years, but I don't see anything that stands out. lol....geezus...seriously? tough crowd. Just what would impress you?....

QUOTE (kwill @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 07:00 PM) Yankees and White Sox all along would make for a good marriage as long as the White Sox are realistic in what they get back. They would be doing good to get Frazier, Andujar These are the two I'm sitting on...and anybody after that would be gravy IMO.

Who would you be most upset if the Sox traded them?

You'd think the Cards would take a long hard look at Melky if they're serious about making a run in the AL Central.... -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 07:27 PM) Just cannot imagine someone making it worth our while on Avi. This. I just get the overall feeling that Avi finally has put it all together not only on the field but with his life....and it's showing. I'd be very reluctant to trade him unless it's a ridiculous return. I'd hate to trade him and see him be a perennial all-star...which he has all the talent to do so. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) Swarzak is a free agent after this year, you take whatever you can get for him at the deadline. plus the wrong side of 30. He'd be a nice piece in a package. Personally...I'd like to hang onto Kahnle unless it's a ridiculous return.
