  1. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) Here is a good comp, the Tex trade: July 31, 2007: Traded by the Texas Rangers with Ron Mahay to the Atlanta Braves for Beau Jones (minors), Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Sale is more of a difference maker than Tex was even then. Sale also has multiple years on his contract, whereas Tex had 1.5 seasons left. At the time of the deal it was looking like the last year that Bobby Cox & Schuerholtz were going to spend together and they wanted to win. At the time the Braves felt they were probably going to lose that deal on the talent end, and maybe it would end up a major mistake. If you deal Chris Sale you need to have the team dealing for him feeling exactly the same way about that deal as the Braves did when they pulled the trigger on the Teixeira deal. That's the kind of return you need. The Latos deal is like the worth of half of one of Sale's massive 32 testicles. If I'm Hahn & someone proposes that deal to me I send Samuel L Jackson to go visit him in his apartment & have him question that guy why he happens to think I'm a b****. Edit: BTW I can't make a post without at least one glaring typo. Here I was going to edit this to change the quantity of Sale's testicles from "32" to "2" but thinking about it, I'm just going to leave this typo, it's far more accurate. Chris Sale has at least 32 testicles IMO. I don't hate that comparison, but Tex would be considered far more of a sure thing since he lacks the catastrophic injury risk of a starting pitcher. Might not be an apples to apples comparison
  2. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) GAKE THREA FTW!!!
  3. I sure as hell hope we don'tt target pitching over hitting in the return. With a guy like Peavy, there should be at least one MLB part in the deal too.
  4. We have no need to dump his puny salary so I'd hope to extract something relatively useful from the Yanks. He's been coming on strong lately and looking much like the guy we thought we were getting.
  5. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) And Addison Reed did not. Is he interested in playing the OF?
  6. This team will end up going on a run at some point, moving our draft pick to around 7-10 just to piss all of you off. This kind of thing often happens after the firesale.
  7. Went to the DH today, stuck it out until the final pitch. Was my girlfriend's first big league game. How profoundly disappointing. We still had a good time, going to an MLB game is always a positive experience, but it was among the most frustrating things I've ever had to watch. This is especially magnified since I was there in person and you're hoping to make a nice memory. What a mess. That's all the money they'll get from me this year.
  8. He's a good shooter, don't let the 3P% fool you. The guy is dead-eye as a jump shooter. Looks like shot selection or volume may have been an issue. Have to like getting a guy with a big-league ready tool, if I can use MLB parlance.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2013 -> 11:00 AM) C- Suzuki 1B- Lind 2B- Beckham SS- Ramirez 3B- Gillaspie/Keppinger LF- Viciedo CF- Granderson RF- Rios DH- Dunn SP- Sale SP- Danks SP- Johnson SP- Quintana SP- Santiago/Axelrod That is about as bad as you could make the outfield, defensively.
  10. C Flowers 1B Dunn 2B Keppinger 3B Gillaspie/Morel SS Beckham LF Viciedo CF De Aza RF Pence DH Morales SP Sale SP Danks SP Santiago SP Quintana SP E. Johnson Because why not. Won't bid high for the best outfielders, but Pence will be a nice player that may not be overpaid and should be able to be a piece for a winning version of our team and/or a nice stop-gap player if things don't work out. A player that could potentially have value near that of Rios with lower salary. With departures of Rios, Peavy, PK, Floyd, Crain, Thornton, we'll still be saving money even if we pay market value for Morales and Pence. Won't need to add FAs for rotation. Might look at a vet or two for the 'pen and Lindstrom may be brought back via team option if he is not traded.
  11. Yep, I like the pick. Not a sky-high ceiling guy, but not a super low ceiling either. He should be able to contribute immediately and potentially become a nice defender and hopefully a more well-rounded scorer.
  12. Was this seriously in doubt? I'm also tickled to see that most people seem to be interpreting this to mean that everyone will BE traded. White Sox need to make moves that leave them in a position to compete soon. Get higher-level minor leaguers, get young MLB players, free up money to bring in free agents. Don't leave the roster without any players. Don't trade from the rotation, sans Peavy.

    6/26 Games

    Josh Phegley is not a value-less prospect. There are reasons to be skeptical, but if we were a team that is buying he could be a part of a good package.
  14. The best part is how far he has to come before the signing is even a break even deal. People forget about the money spent when these guys come up as a prospect. He has to do SO MUCH before he starts to chip away at the huge investment. Think about a guy like Yu Darvish, who has such a long road to earning the money spent on him (much of which he didn't even get)
  15. This core has only played with Rose in the postseason once. Everything anyone thinks about the Bulls is based on one playoff series. I'm not comfortable with that.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) Also, the star witness was pretty entertaining. I have to imagine her credibility was shot with all of the changes in her statements and the fact that she couldn't read something she claimed to have written herself. That's some of the most painful, tedious cross examination I've ever seen. I would have punched that defense lawyer in the f***ing face and you could tell she wants to. He's just doing his job, of course, but damn was that whole ordeal annoying. This is why I'm not going into law.
  17. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 12:04 AM) wow, pretty cool. I'm not a jersey guy but that code gets you $75 off the Reebok Edge jersey. Might have to buy something now just for that deal. Looks like they don't have Edge jerseys on there for whatever reason. Also, no "A" on the Keith/Sharp jerseys? Da f***? Still want to pull the trigger but sizes are limited, might have to go with Toews
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 02:22 AM) Jimmy Butler is fast becoming the most overrated player in the NBA (far as Soxtalk goes). He's a piece. Not the difference. Stop it. The Bulls need another star. That's the only way in the 2007+ nba (and that might not even be enough). You underestimate how easy it is to be a lot better than Bogans/Brewer/Korver
