  1. I would say a great deal of attitudes in Congress, in this forum, in the USA have changed on the subject of gay rights since 1996.
  2. None of the trades seem likely to make the Bulls overall better. Pretty simple. If you're going to do such a significant shakeup, LaMarcus Aldridge is not enough. He's not good enough and he's not in the right position. I'd think about it if it was a player of his caliber that was a good shooting 2 guard that can create, then we'd be talking. Right now, I'm happy to move forward with this core that has only played together once. They very well may be quite a bit better than they were in 2011 and they were pretty damn good back then. Jimmy Butler is likely to be a huge lift as the starting 2 as he is a nice mixture of the positives of Ronnie Brewer, Keith Bogans, and Korver. He is the least like Korver, obviously, but he knocks down shots better than Bogans or Brewer to be sure.
  3. Dems in Texas sucessfully delay to end of session that was to end at 12 AM to stop anti-abortion bill from passing. Many reports coming out, though, that they held the vote after midnight. They are asking legislators to their faces whether they voted or it passed and nobody seems to know. Dustin Parkes ‏@dustinparkes 12m Sorry Miami Heat. After the buzzer sounded, San Antonio made ten straight buckets and are now NBA champs. #TexasRules
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) Beckham needs pulled right now I do not give a dam If his replacement lets 5 balls go between his legs. Time for RV to show some nuts and hold someone responsible for once. Paul Konerko is the only backup infielder available so that scenario is very likely (the balls between legs)
  5. Hawk is very mad at the White Sox for making Gordon bad
  6. I don't really give a s*** about Chris Sale getting the win, but Jesus what a dumb play that may cause us to lose.
  7. Dunn's wRC+ up to 100. Wow, what a climb.
  8. Anyone going to the parade? Thinking about going but not sure how to go about it, logistically speaking
  9. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) Cool. How many are you passing around here? Lol ^^^
  10. I remember the almost-comeback against Vancouver and the ultimate heartbreak. Then a more promising year, Raffi Torres demolishing Hossa, and me wanting to dismember Corey Crawford. Now...this. I was sheepish about continuing to be an active fan after the lockout, but I knew it wasn't the Blackhawks fault no matter how I felt about the NHL. I ponied up for NHL Gamecenter for the first time instead of just occasionally bootlegging the games while I was at school. The streak was already one of the most fun runs of hockey I've ever seenn...and then these playoffs. I've been a mess. All worth it now. Crazy to think about how different the status of a guy like Coach Q is after this compared to, say, a loss when we were down 3-1 to Detroit. I still remember how bad we were when I started watching hockey with my dad...we sucked, the home games weren't on TV, but then there was a glimmer of hope. A kid named Toews, a kid named Kane, and very soon a collection of budding stars made us relevant again. It felt so special then that I can't believe it took us so long to win again, but then again it seems impossible to win. /ramble /love these guys
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 10:21 PM) well as the resident Bruins fan all I can say is congrats to you guys. Sometimes the puck doesnt bounce your way and usually in series this tight, the team that does the better job around the crease wins. Chicago got to the loose pucks a lot more frequently on both ends of the ice over the 6 games and deserved to win this series. I'll never be upset seeing an American win an individual award in hockey but there is no way you can convince me that Crawford wasnt the Conn Smythe winner. Not really upset either(Maybe I'm getting old). A little down but I guess I cant really be upset to see the B's lose like this. I guess its fitting after the game 7 vs Toronto. Oh well, congrats again guys. It was fun. My feeling is that the conception that Crawford isn't as good as Rask made people not want to give him the Conn Smythe, they went with the big name who obviously had a great resume himself.

Which Johnson are we talking about here?
  13. Keith has played so well today, but that one was definitely on him
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) Crawford huge this game. Indeed. Win or lose, tough to say that he hasn't risen to the occasion.
  15. The refs suck, Boston deliberately made this ice s***ty, they're hurting our guys, and we still don't want to get back to Chicago. Let's go!

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) Anderson with 8 strikeouts in 21 ABs after having 12 in 182 during his juco season Hopefully just a blip. I'm sure it's easy to give up some at-bats coming off a long layoff against the best pitchers you've ever seen
