  1. Looking a bit like Game 2 where we dominated the first period but didn't get enough goals to show for it, with the roles reversed
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 12:16 AM) Don't forget Posey. He's good. Catchers seem to be as big of a gamble as anyone and his megadeal makes him significantly less attractive, even though I'm sure I'd be happy that he signed it if I was a Giants fan.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 11:32 PM) I mean, what can you possibly argue about when talking about the S4 and HTC One? That the S4 is made of cheap plastic and that the HTC One has a gimmicky Ultrapixel camera? Who cares? I can understand discussing the advantages of different operating systems as they're all fairly different, but these are both Android phones. They more or less do the same stuff. The only thing that's different is that they look a bit different on the software side and very different from a physical standpoint. But that's supposed to be a good thing about Android. Camera, replaceable battery, SD card slot, price/standard storage, processor speed, screen size, AMOLED vs LCD, timing of software updates, availability of accessories, the list goes on and on. I keep trying to tell these people that they are REALLY similar phones and that both have significant pluses and minuses and you just have to decide if the flaws harm you more than the average person and if the pluses help you more than the average guy. For some folks, the perceived negatives aren't negative at all when you will never know the difference.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 10:49 PM) Dude, Nexus master race. Samsung is s*** and HTC is Hitler. And I'm pretty sure Apple were the original Nazis. Go read http://reddit.com/r/androidcirclejerk. It's the best subreddit ever (and most of it is sarcasm that mocks exactly what you said above). lulz Other than detracting from potentially good conversation, the thing that gets me is that you know somebody will read this rogue post about a product and then they will pull the trigger.
  5. I've been posting at some Android/tech forums and good lord are these people crazy. First there was Apple vs Android, now there is Samsung vs HTC. Christ, who gives a f***. People won't acknowledge the shortcomings of the product they purchased because they're crazy. I've noticed that buyers of the One/S4 are roughly equally defensive of their purchase on these forums, but Samsung people tend to be Samsung people while HTC One buyers are not loyal to HTC so much as they are to the One. Either way, I guess this just happens with all consumer products no matter how subtle the differences, etc.
  6. Reed is on pace to be about a 2.5 fWAR player this season, which is exceptional. Last year, that would have been our 3rd best pitcher and 6th overall player. That number has a far better standing on this year's team, so far, because this team is no good so I compare to a fairly successful 2012 squad. Let's not pretend that even a good closer is worthless and that you can always replace them easily.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) Yes. Enjoying the little Google things, like their type correction. It's a very fast phone. But, the iPhone touch screen is still the best imo. Love the camera software on here, and blinkfeed really was easy to ignore. I loved my switch from iOS to Android. I didn't mind Blinkfeed, though I didn't want it to be my default homescreen. I ultimately began to use Nova Launcher in place of the Sense Launcher; not so much to avoid Blinkfeed, though it does that, but because it is more customizable and I can just flat out put more stuff on each screen.
  8. I have no reason to believe that Chris is any bigger risk than any other starting pitcher at this point. All starters are risky. You might lose a season to injury and/or ineffectiveness, but that's part of the deal. You'd have to get a Giancarlo Stanton++ type package to make sure you're getting another cornerstone in return and that makes you wonder why you would have dealt him in the first place.
  9. No. Our goal is to be good as soon as possible and as long as possible. Almost any reasonable offer for Sale would undermine both of these goals.
  10. In general, I don't like trading players that haven't yet reached arbitration when trying to rebuild/reload
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) Got the HTC one yesterday. Looks beautiful. Let me know if anyone finds fun shut to do with it. I got mine a few weeks ago. I absolutely love it. Are you new to Android?
  12. There is no heir apparent. We'll likely be dumping three other relievers. He is cheap and will remain so for quite a while. He does not appear to be a player that is overperforming (unlike Santos, whose peripherals were terrible). So...no. I'd have to get an absolutely stupid return for him to trade him. I would not be shopping him.
  13. I was hoping he would get fined or at least have there be an acknowledgment that he did wrong.
  14. Dunn = God By this time next year, he may have a significant amount of trade value as he used to. He could also be valuable to us if we want to try to win something.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 10:42 AM) Symptoms
  16. I definitely think closers are way overvalued, but I don't see a reason to trade Reed when we already plan to decimate our bullpen, he is under team control for a long time, and there is no apparent heir. I'd rather trade a guy who is about to get paid, is being paid a lot, is someone who is unlikely to repeat his success (Santos), or is blocking another exciting arm.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) 1. Hawkins 2. E. Johnson 3. Thompson 4. Anderson 5. Snodgress 6. M. Johnson 7. Barnum 8. Sanchez 9. Walker 10. Beck 11. Phegley 12. Webb 13. Danish 14. Rienzo 15. Coats IMO, this is the deepest a list of this sort has looked in recent memory.
  18. What's the deal with Google TV? Odd that this sort of thing isn't being promoted. Sucks?
  19. It would be a horrible concussion policy if you let him continue to sit there with concussion symptoms. Lights, sound, intense emotion or critical thinking all would set him back
