Bryce to see Dr. James Andrews
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 09:43 PM) I care, but there's no way I could ever get a fair deal from you for Harper or Stanton, Jake. By the way, DBAHO is being a layabout with his team. Anyone want it? He hasn't made a transaction all year and is somehow in 1st place two months in. It sucks how little contributions I've gotten from my top 2 round picks, not that Bryce has been a slouch. I've noticed that about DBAHO, and I don't know how I should feel about it. I mostly feel dumb.

2013 TV Thread
I don't watch GoT because I'm not into fantasy and I'm not into the period of history that fantasy is loosely based on. I don't like Lord of the Rings, for instance (bracing for the "GoT is TOTALLY different!" posts. You get my point.). I also don't normally go for shows that people go crazy about because that annoys me.

White Sox draft thread: Day Two
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) No catchers or firstbasmen taken yet. I know Laumann likes the catcher depth already but it would have been nice to pick up a decent 1B project somewhere throughout the draft. Well...our boy Rowdy is still around

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Chris Freudenberg, South Mountain CC in AZ. Has bounced around several colleges, high 80s low 90s heater solid breaking stuff. 6'3" 195. He'll likely begin his career as starter but needs work. LHP, sorry

White Sox draft thread: Day Two
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) So if we took the reach the Royals did all the way at #8 and then didn't sign Manaea, or he never was healthy with us...would that have been a better understanding of the draft process? We got a different version of Manaea in Beck last year, who came into the Year as a Top 10 draft pick and disappointed due to bulking up from weighlifting and scouts' bad advice. The first two picks are always going to be the most important. And sometimes you end up with good players between 3rd and 5th, like an Addison Reed or Joe Crede. I don't think Manaea=Beck is a fair comparison. Manaea is and always has been better and only lost draft position due to a hip injury, not a mysterious loss of velocity and effectiveness.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) Throws 97, lower arm angle, "#1 curveball in college baseball", projects as a reliever. Have to think we won't have him start out as a reliever with those two tools, but won't get much of a leash with control issues

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 12:58 PM) Tellez & Tank 1B & DH in the future hahaha whole lot of beef. Would be nice to add another potential big LH bat to our system along with Barnum.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) Why go for a polished, low upside bat in the 3rd round? I suppose it is meant to balance out the low risk picks in the first two rounds. We might also just see something different than other evaluators. Definitely seems like money is playing a role here, but like everyone else, not sure what we're saving up for.

White Sox draft thread: Day Two
Jacob May does not have strikeout issues. He struck out 23 times in 230 PA. Sounds like a breath of fresh air to me. He's a polished, low upside bat - not a surprising choice given the risk on our other two picks. Gotta wonder if we're trying to save money for something, but for what?

2013 Video Game Thread
I was already down on XBOX because I hated paying for my connection to the internet -- how many ways do I have to pay to watch some god damned Breaking Bad...cable, Netflix, Xbox? Now this s*** takes it to a whole new level. I often bought used games because 50 bucks is a lot for me, even for a game I'm excited for. I'm probably going to go without a game system, get a Roku, and find non-gaming ways to occupy my time. If I get a windfall, I'll get a PS4.

2012-2013 Official NHL thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 11:00 AM) Buff was tougher to goalies IMO and had a ridiculous slap shot and probably more speed. I think Bick will make a huge payday in the offseason but will ultimately disappoint his future team. This. I think he has more value to us than anyone else and he will have a tough time earning the $3M many are predicting he could get in FA.

White Sox draft day one thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:58 AM) The White sox are very good about letting pitchers throw the way they want to and focus more on the grip and quality of pitches. Cooper has often said that it's the results they look at. They only thing I've really ever heard him discuss with mechanics much was balance but this too was more related to being able to throw with command rather than actual mechanics. I like this approach. As a person who has studied throwing mechanics and worked with pitchers, people are far too concerned with minute differences in mechanics. Agree completely. Fairly large mental adjustments can be easy to implement while those minute changes in mechanics can be a big hindrance. Likewise, sometimes an approach change can unintentionally change mechanics for the better.

Tim Anderson retweeted my article on him. I consider that a ringing endorsement

White Sox draft day one thread
You don't turn 18 year olds into relievers, unless we promised him a Sale-esque shot at the big leagues. The kid has two plus pitches and some scouts like his change and curve as well. He could be an excellent starter. You have to wonder if there is more velocity to get in a conventional motion, not to mention just from growing up.

6-6 Do We Have a Game Today Thread?
Dunn has looked better this past week. Last I checked, his OPS is actually higher than the team OPS. I'm far more concerned about a guy like PK who just looks lost and isn't even hustling anymore.
