  1. I like how the media is ripping him to shreds for it. He's not making excuses, he's pointing out the obvious. It's not like he goes to the locker room and says "we're f***ed, the refs are out to get us so we're not going to try"
  2. If they traded Upton, they would want minor league parts or pitching back. They're trying to make room for Gattis, not have an old fat guy taking Gattis' at bats
  3. QUOTE (Knuckles @ May 11, 2013 -> 10:20 PM) Have all you pretty much moved on from laptops onto tablets? My laptop is on its last breath and I'm looking to replace it soon? Kind of scared to give up the keyboard. I mostly use it for browsing, forums, streaming video, but occasionally I'd like to type up a email or two etc. Recommendations ? I have an ASUS Transformer, absolutely love it. Has a native keyboard attachment that boosts the battery to 15 hours. It isn't a perfect replacement for a laptop, but I often use it instead of my laptop. When I'm going to do more serious word processing or multitasking I obviously prefer a laptop, but it's a pretty awesome toy.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) Goodness Viciedo looks incredible I may put this in my signature Maybe change the poster name to Marty34
  5. Is it just my TV or did Dayan gain 100 pounds while he was on the DL?

IIRC, he has presided over us going from worst to not quite the worst. We're trending upward.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 11, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) I'd love to see Ventura shake things up a bit. I understand not making moves in order to show poise and not trying to panic, but with the collapse last year continuing into this season, why not have fun and try something like this lineup: Gillaspie Rios De Aza Konerko Viciedo Dunn Ramirez Keppinger Flowers If De Aza is going to act like a power hitter at the plate, why not try to get him up to bat with people on base? Who knows, maybe he'll turn into a 25 home run a year player. Just for the fun of it, if we were trying to tweak I'd take your lineup and make it more like this: Gillaspie Ramirez De Aza Rios Konerko Viciedo Dunn Flowers Keppinger

I would only trade Alexei for good, young MLB player(s). You would fill one of your positions of need with the return on an Alexei trade, if you were to do that.

I would link my latest column about what a great move it was not to sign Buehrle, but I don't think a soul on this forum would disagree with it. You'd be shocked how many angry emails I've gotten though

FWIW, if I was doing an Astros-style teardown, I would be playing Jordan Danks every day in CF. I would never ever do an Astros-style rebuild though. That's stupid.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 11, 2013 -> 09:20 AM) I said before the series started, the bulls won't win but this is not the team that the Heat wanted to see. That hasn't changed The crazy thing is that with the way we're playing, it really looks like we could just be a Luol plus maybe a Kirk away from being a serious contender in this series.
  12. Thibs is going to lose some money after his post-game presser
  13. The bad calls hurt us, but we can still overcome it by avoiding bad fouls. Too many off the ball and/or far away from the basket fouls. Even if they were called a little too closely, they were zero payoff plays in the first place. We can't have them in the bonus for the last 8 minutes of the game and constantly be paranoid about guys in foul trouble.
  14. Sounds like Lu is very doubtful for the rest of playoffs, yes?
  15. We didn't play that badly tonight. I hate how it was officiated, but it wasn't too far off from normal. Just need to make stops, but we don't have the depth to do it, especially when we aren't getting foul calls in our favor. I still think we might take another one.
  16. LeBron falls down near you, foul on you
  17. No call on Noah getting thrown to ground
  18. Bulls just haven't had a single thing go their way. I'm really enjoying Van Gundy tonight. Calling a spade a spade.
  19. Getting f***ed on fouls down the stretch.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) Far too many stupid fouls in the 2nd half by the Bulls. Just giving Miami free points. Yep. Not making their own FTs either.
  21. I'm pleased that they've been pointing out how many fouls LeBron has been committing without being called. That one particular play with Marco was absolutely ridiculous
  22. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 10, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) bosh and chalmers arguing - noah looks at them and claps lolol holy nate block on lebron lol both of those things lol
  23. Dayan is still at an age where he could fathomably become a better outfielder. That is by no means a cinch to happen, but a 24 year old could easily still be on the upswing when it comes to his defense. I would keep him in the OF as long as possible. I felt like, by the end of last season, he was fielding at least at a CQ level of defense. He was starting off pretty damn slow this year though.
  24. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 9, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) How do you convince a guy like Peavy to go to a 6 man rotation? Plus he's a veteran so accustomed to 5. I say put Danks in the pen. Heck, Peavy spent a good part of last season with a six-man/special juggling to assure 5 days rest. He's under contract and despite the bulldog-ness, he has seemed receptive to doing things for his own good health since returning from Jake Peavy Surgery.
  25. If someone cheap shotted Rose, the refs wouldn't ignore it. That's the advantage of being the Heat -- refs and fans pay more attention the stars, so they won't miss it if something questionable happens to them. It would really de-incentivize going goon on Derrick
