Santiagos's Screwball vs Guthrie's AL Rebirth
Jake replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2012 Season in Review
Tyler Flowers: 1.1 fWAR. Dear lord, he's only appeared in 46 games -
QUOTE (Brian26 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) The Dodgers game was another blunder, that time mental more than physical, of epic proportions. Glad today didn't turn into a Brant Brown moment for the Sox. I remember that now, certainly more mental than physical but a blunder nonetheless. That game sucked

Any non-local fans going to be [illegally] viewing the game online?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) as of now. Apparently Goodell can resuspend them if he can prove intent to injure There has been a lot in the past couple years to try and dehorn Goodell. It started with the Williams twins in Minnesota I don't mind what Goodell is doing. Really.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) Big 10 might not want to go west unless its the actual Rose Bowl game. I don't know what the hell UofI is doing with their QBs. Today I learned that our third QB's name is Osei. Unfortunately he had to throw a couple picks for me to learn his name...I don't like injuries. -
A world in which we beat KC and Detroit consistently is probably one where we don't sweep the Yanks or Rangers

QUOTE (kapzk @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) 26/30 These are basically my thoughts. He has had some ups and several more downs than we'd like, but it is (typical of ST) short-sighted to write him off. He's got some growing to do, he's just a couple years removed from the draft. Whether or not to move him out of the role this year is a decision I'm glad I don't have to make.

OF - good to go, should be even better next year. 3B - who knows, but we'll have money to spend there SS - good to go, Alexei could drive in 80 runs this year and is still perhaps the best defender at this position 2B - question mark. Gordon will be around, he's great defensively, unlikely to ever be better than a .250 hitter. Carlos Sanchez will likely push him early and often 1B/DH - good to go C - not sure. AJ may be back and we'll see what he does, otherwise Flowers has been looking pretty good with more consistent ABs Rotation - Stretched out Sale, Quintana. Repaired Danks. Possibly Gavin but Hector, Axelrod, Simon Castro, Leesman, and others will get looks. We have money to spend in FA and could potentially bring Peavy back. Bullpen - questions to be asked are out there. Crain, Jones, Reed, Septimo, Veal, Axelrod likely to return. Reed has hiccuped recently in the ninth but I'm not very worried about this presently. We can get someone to take care of the 9th. I feel fine.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) Just saw the replay of Flowers' home run. You would have thought someone had hit a homer off of the White Sox and Hawk was announcing. Credit to Ventura for his lineup decisions today. Wise batting third? Hits well Viciedo batting third? Hits well Tyler Flowers playing? Drops bombs

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) You mean exactly like how Obama's entire job council does/has done? Even HuffPo wrote about this nonsense: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/12/o..._n_1666443.html This is why I don't get it when Democrats ride Romney as a job exporter, when the guy they have an office now appointed an ENTIRE fleet of job exporters for the job of "saving American jobs". So, three things: 1. It's a joke based on common perception 2. That's an advisory board and the truth of politics that laymen never like to accept is that those that have worked in the respective industries will always be the most qualified policy-makers. This is why I shrug my shoulders when people lose their heads over so and so's former lawyer, etc working in the corresponding gov't organization. Who would know more about it? Whether he likes those companies or not, he needs them to be in business. Knowing what kinds of policies might have an unexpected outcome of killing the company or other things like that is important. You could also call this "reaching across the aisle" or something like that. Talking to the enemy, etc 3. The ugliest truth at this point is there are occasions in which outsourcing DOES save jobs. If you outsource a large portion of a company's jobs instead of having the company fold, you still end up with more jobs than had the company gone under. There are many situations now in which a company will cease to be competitive with foreign competition if it does not run unskilled aspects of its company overseas. That is something we have to accept for the time being. I'm very interested in who can come up with ways to "create jobs" in that climate, particularly unskilled or semi-skilled jobs. This is also the reason why I'm a little less skeptical of Romney's business career.

This is the first time I've seen him look bad in LF, at least that I'm remembering. He routinely makes plays that are simply out of Dayan's range in LF.
-
I know that the defense has f***ed you, but you have to get your slider over. Or a changeup. Just a different look
-
An act of god just prevented a 1-2-3
-
Gas for Reed there
-
Great job Matt! Location was good this time out and he clearly had a different and better plan.
-
Look what a good deuce will do for you.
-
Hold the lead here so I can feel comfortable with Addison in the ninth
-
Myers wi go every single day, he gives no f***s
-
If Dayan keeps his approach to the middle-opposite field, I see nothing but good ahead for him.
