I'm SO sick of these caught-stealings. MAJOR rally killers. I'm all for moving on the basepaths Oz, but when guys keep getting mowed down, it's time to pull back on the throttle a little.

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) You could have at least waited til the game was over tonight. Hey-Hey-Hey There was a disclaimer. Plus, I really planned on writing this before tonight's outing...his first inning just reminded me.

Now, I'm making this thread during the top of the second of tonight's game; so, if Garland tanks, you could blame it on me. Having watched Jon pitch a little over two games, I've developed a level of confidence in young Jon that I never had previous to this season. He has looked nothing short of spectacular. I'll be the first to admit I've been hard on Jon in the past and that, of course, was for a couple of reasons. First, I was bothered by his California-cool and lack of tenacity on the mound. I felt he pitched with no emotion on the mound, and although that could be very dangerous for a pitcher--especially a young one-- I felt he needed to get pissed out there. Second, I was driven near the brink of insanity with his inconsistency. One outing he looked fantastic, and the next he got lit up in the second inning. That said, I think the single most motivating factor for my frustration with Jon had to do with his immaturity. When he was blaming others for his misfortunes on the mound, I lost a great deal of respect for him...this happened on more than a few occasions. Top all of that off with amazing projections coming out of the minor league system and you had reason for frustration. He just seemed to flirt with greatness out there and was never able to make that final push. This year, I have taken a complete 180 on him. In fact, I think I have a higher level of confidence in Jon that I do Freddy, Contreras and El Duque. Dare I say breakout year? Count me down as a major Garland backer this season. If the Sox are going to make any noise in the post-season, we are going to have to have some career years and Jon might be the guy to lead the charge. Who's with me?

DJ alluding to steroid usage? Perhaps.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Now I wish Crede was up. I don't think I've ever seen those words put together.

That's one way to get out of that funk Jermaine. 3-0 Good Guys! Off to a great start!

Nothing spectacular. It took place during the Twins @ USCF series. He walked around, talked to some of his ex-teammates (LeCroy, Santana) and the Twins bullpen coach (he also talked to the Twins unofficial mascot--a.k.a. some wyno they let hang out with them). He began the segment by working on his bunts and swearing profusley. LOL, he tried to hit the camera man like 5 time in a row. He seems happy on the Southside.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 08:00 AM) I have to admit.. KW, is proving me wrong.. and I could not be happier. HOLD THE PHONE!!! Atta' Boy! Kenny has looked sterling thus far and as you said, success against teams like the A's will really prove he put a winning club on the field. Although, I can't remember the last time we came out of the gates whipping up on AL Central teams.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) Ch 21 is usually CSN+, just fyi. Ah, that would be most excellent. Let's hope we get it tonight. I'm having withdrawls.

Holy smokes...look at I-Rod in that picture. Now, I'm not going to go out and call the guy a steroid user, but he looks awfully suspect. Let's keep our winning ways alive and I'll keep :fyou CSN+ and WCIU!

As reported by ESPN and other media outlets, the Niners have locked in on Alex Smith and barring any contractual issues, want to make him their #1 overall selection. This is very impportant for a number of reasons, the most important of those being: Who knows how far Aaron Rodgers will now fall? Do the Browns care to make him the QB of the future with the #3 overall selection. If not, will it be the Cardinals, who really don't want to burn that first round selection on a QB? Rodgers may end up falling deep into the first round; wreeking havoc with mocks and building up the hopes of multipul gm's.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 07:16 AM) I didn't see it mentioned in here, but Deron did sign with an agent so he is officially not coming back to Illinois. ...hence the press conference -
How bout' those Sox!? They just keep on winning! Let's keep it up against the Tigs fellas!
