QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 07:37 AM) He was rumored, but his price is too high. Plus he has X-Men 3 and the Wolverine movies in the pipe Yes, but he has been stalling the whole production. I know he was complaing about being labeled a "type-cast" after three X-Men films. As a die hard X-Men fan, I hope he just takes his money and plays Logan in the third film. Bad news: They haven't even begun the production of the third film yet. At least, this was true of the last update I received. I Phoenix. I can't wait. I'm getting stir-crazy.

QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) It's not as bad as the U.S. media makes it out to be. You get 5 min. sports segments on the local news programs about the Japanese players in the Majors everyday, but nothing too extravagant. Not many people really care about the MLB very much in Japan anymore, most of the national attention is now focused on soccer and the domestic baseball league. Unlike the U.S., Japan has about 5 major sports-oriented daily newspaper that widely cover everything going on in the world, so that it where all the Japanese reporters covering the players' every move come from. The good things about these papers is that they have a one page adult section too, and no carding when you buy them! The only station that shows MLB games live in Japan is NHK, but its cable so you need to pay extra for it. It airs all the Mariners' home games, which can be annoying as I want to see Nomo and Matsui more, but what you gonna do? Most excellent. Thanks for the response.

QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) CWS game tomorrow on ESPN, looking forward to seeing Iguchi live for the first time since he left Japan. He's been sitting the last 2 days so Ozzie should give him the start. This begs the question (something I've been meaning to ask for awhile now): Do you hear about Iguchi/Ichiro/Takatsu on nightly basis in Japan? Do they make their way on to the nightly news broadcast or do you have to be an involved sports fan to hear what they are doing in the states. ESPN and the other national media would like us to believe ex-Japan stars are talked about daily in Japan. For instance, when Matsui first came to the states to play for the Yankees, I remember hearing the streets were buzzing with Matsui talk. Like, people would stop whatever they were doing to hear how Matsui played. Sorry, just something I've been wondering for awhile. Thanks.

March 14 2005 Cubs vs Sox spring training game

QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Calm down everyone, just treat it like you were watching it on an opponents telecast, because that's basically what it was. It was Cubs announcers on a Cubs station, they are going to choose a Cub's player of the game. We all know that A-Row played better, but D-Lee was the player of the game for the Cubs. There are better things to get worked up about. Show of hands. So, who here was "worked up?" I know I wasn't. -

Walker pitches a 1-2-3 ninth for a WHITE SOX WINNER!!! That's Win #1 Northsiders. Plenty more to come. It was perfect. The Sox seal the deal in the ninth as the Comcast people put a Cub idiot on tv who has wrapped himself in fake ivy. Perfect. :fthecubs -

After giving up a bloop single to Harriston in shallow LF, Buehrle retires Patterson and Nomar. The game is now paused for a cork check after Patterson shattered his bat. -

6-3 DP ends the inning. Derek Lee scores on a DuBouis bloop single into LF. I just want to say, although Buehrle got touched up for a run that inning...Buehrle pitching and Pierzynski receiving brings a tear to my eye. -

My goodness this Dempster works quickly. By working this quickly it seems he's been catching the Sox hitters off guard. The Pierzynski at bat was a perfect example. By the time AJ got out of the box, swung, and dug back in, the ball was already on its way to the plate. -

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Bob Brenley - "Buehrle is the first Sox pitcher to lead the league in innings since another Sox pitcher." Gald to see I wasn't the only one to hear that. The best part about it was he said it all suprised. "Buehrle is the first Sox pitcher to the league in innings pitched since another Sox pticher Wilbur Wood?" "I'm Ron Burgandy?" -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Prior will miss his start tomorrow..... Rowand singles and Uribe goes to 3rd. Pauly coming to the dish. That was an excellent hit and run. Paulie grounds into a double play. Where have I heard that before? -
For some reason, this made me think of the Family Guy exchange between Brian and the Italian Resturant Owner. Brian: "Yeah, real authentic Italian. You have fifty Puerto Ricans in the kitchen"
