White Sox v. San Diego (3/9/05)
AddisonStSox replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Coop on Pierzynski: He's been fantastic. The interaction and conversations have been aweomse both on and off the field. For instance, he noticed Adkins' fastball cutting and was able to tell Coop and work on making an immediate adjustment. He's been "great." "Hard-nosed player that can get under peoples' skin. Buehrle with back to back Ks. -

Coop was late to the game today, because El Duque was pitching in a B game against the D-Backs and said he looked real good with much better control. 500 pitches from 500 angles and he can use them all. He's also climbing now "velocity-wise." Buehrle is ready to go. Freddy's stuff is looking great. He's "all-systems-go." Garland pitched four "dynamite" innings yesterday. Coop also heard the low-strike is going to be called consistantly this season whould should be to the Sox's benefit. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) this is the year Buerhle becomes that 20 game winner SHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Don't say that out loud. Don't even type that. In fact, don't even think about it. -

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Still itching to see Iguchi on tv! Hopefully tomorrow. Another game on CSN against Texas. Same here. I want to see both Iguchi and Pierzynski dig in wearing a Sox uniform. -

Buehrle with another effortless 1-2-3 inning. He is straight dealing today. Looking real good. -

Hawk talking to Cooper: "Cooper says he's excited about Tracey and McCarthy. Real excited about the future." "Loves the pitching roster #1-11." Hawk asked him if he has been disappointed with anything thus far, and Coop said no. I thought he would have commented on the troubled outings for some of the rotation, but I guess not. -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) And you just got married? "Honey, can you say cover up?"

Willie, you da' baddest. Really. :headshake :puke

Truly deserving. The numbers he put up in the final 4 or 5 games didn't hurt his cause any. Hats off to Dee on an amazing season. He's been a blast to watch (and meet). Work's far from over though shooter.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) And on top of that, Greg Walker is an excellent hitting coach for the hitters that will listen to him. He recognizes problems very quickly.

I'm loving Pierzynski more and more every time something comes out on him. In my eyes, he has already erased whatever "cancer" labels he had before entering the Sox clubhouse. Let's hope he is productive on the field and finds a new home on the Southside.

Actually, the more I think about it, Angelo may look for an OLB or other defender in round 4. His recent actions (i.e. signing Muhammad, releasing Terrell, etc.) have shown he has confidence in both Gage and Wade. I know he wants another OLB somewhere in this draft, it may go there.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) RB in 1 and 4? No. Yup. Good catch. Meant WR. Thanks.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) That would allow us to draft (In order of Round): 1) WR 2) CB 3) LB 4) RB 5) OL 6) OL 7) Best Available We don't have a third round selection. I can't even begin to speculate at the order of position. Here's a stab in the dark: 1) RB (Benson/Brown if not traded down) 2) CB 4) WR 5) OL 6) K 7) Best Available (QB/Defense)

Real solid signing. Real, real solid. As has been posted, I don't expect the Bears to stick with this guys for the full five years, so don't let the length scare you. The current core of OL were not capable of turning things around. Bringing in new blood, however old it may be , is a very good thing. Hammerhead, I agree with all three of your points. Edinger ain't cutting it. He hasn't kicked a kick off to the endzone in 4 years and his accuracy is getting worse and worse. I would love for the Bears to find a way to get Nugent in the draft. If not the Buckeye, then I expect them to look at another K in the later rounds. Brown won't be there at #4. Although I doubt the Vikes find a way to move up, it is a certain possibility. If Benson is there: take him. He's so talented and is a guy to build upon. Who knows, maybe Grossman-Benson can be a top-notch 1-2 combo in the NFL.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) 19 more on Comcast and one on WGN against the sCrubs. Oh be nice. Let him have that one. He lost out on the Timo debate. Sorry qwert. 0-2 today. There are 20 televised games.

Ballgame. Anderson grounds out to 2B to end the game. For those of you just checking in: Borchard with a good game, 2HR Valdez with a good game, 2 singles, SB, and solid glove work. It was great to here Hawk and see the guys in action. Not too happy with the result, but it was a blast. Here's to 20 more in ST!
-
After Tony Alvarez botched a bunt attempt, Jerry Owens (PR) was thrown out at 2B. Chris Young (PR) in for Alvarez at first. Jorge Toca sent a ball to the track in right field, but caught. Down to the final out, with Brian Anderson at the plate.
-
Little Arnie got a K to end the inning. Complete with a "He Gone." Do or die ninth for the Sox. 6-5 Giants
-
So, does Munoz have a future in the MLB or what? He's just been drilled whenever I see him against MLB-level talent. I know he's one of the better young arms in the organization, but hitters just tee off on him.
-
Getting back on track: For those of you both watching and reading here at Soxtalk. I've noticed Comcast doesn't list the order at the end of each inning. The view doesn't know who's coming to bat. Now, this may be because it's Spring Training and players are frequently sub-ed in and out, or it may be permanent. I dunno. Anyone else pick up on this?

Just saw the new Shingo commercial. Loved it. It was b****ing. No wonder this guy loves it in Chicago, he already has his own special intro and full length commercial. Win. Or die trying.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) His numbers still suck. We could have signed someone for league mininum and they would have put up numbers like his. He is a waste of one million dollars. ^ | | = Pwned | | Lightspeed got you on this one qwert. This last post proves it.

Frank says, "I want to play today, but the doctor said no." He sounds really good, really confident. He likes the new dynamic of the club and things with the new pitching staff we could go a long way. Unfortunately I have to go to class, but I know we're in good hands with winningugly.
