  1. I Bobby Jenks. If he can keep his act together, he has a serious future as a closer.
  2. Atta' boy Ronnie. I was still a little weary of taking Ronnie at #4, but after this combine, I no longer worry. Angelo is going to take a long, hard look at both Cedric Benson and Ronnie Brown. I still anticipate the Dolphins taking Benson, but who knows, maybe they have a change of heart and snag Brown. It'll be interesting to see what Saban and co. think of Brown after this combine.
  3. QUOTE(T R U @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) uhhh I think you need to go think that over a little more... Theres a reason Jones is on his 3rd team already, he was a HUGE bust as the #7 overall pick He has not been Mr Reliable nor has he been anything close to fantastic Stats. 2000 Arizona Cardinals 14 4 112 373 3.3 29 2 1 23 2001 Arizona Cardinals 16 2 112 380 3.4 21 5 1 22 2002 Arizona Cardinals 9 9 138 511 3.7 58 2 2 21 2003 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 16 3 137 627 4.6 61 3 2 25 2004 Chicago Bears 14 14 240 948 4.0 54 7 2 49 TOTAL 69 32 739 2839 3.8 61 19 8 140 I'd agree, not Mr. Reliable. Not #7 material, but a very capable back. There was a reason so many teams were looking at him this past season. He has loads of talent. He would have been a 1000 yd. rusher this season injury permitting, thats good. Injuries messed up those career numbers, for both the Cards and Bucs.
  4. :headshake Awful. He's going to have to pray someone is willing to take a chance on him in round 6 or 7. So Maurice, if you could do it all over again, what would you change? :puke
  5. Cheat, WR Agree. Train>Jones Absolutely not. Jones is the RB of the future here in Chicago. Jones is a very, very strong and skilled runner. He has been Mr. Reliable throughout his career and has been fantastic since his days in college. Train is gone. Edwards=Terrell :headshake :headshake :headshake You have to be f***ing kidding me. This is insanity. Comparing the two because they are both from Michigan is downright ignorance. Edwards is an awesome talent coming out of the college game. His size and playmaking abilites are unmatched by any current Bears WR. This is just goofy. He has an awesome attitude, a first-class work ethic and has shown signs of greatness. Why not let Jim Miller have another try? No. George looked crisp in practice and should get another shot. He can still play and I expect the Bears to carry 4 QBs on the roster next season. Hutchinson is the backup. The Bears are very high on this guy and think a full pre-season will do him very well. He can be a capable backup in the NFL. Say no to Kurt Warner. Agree.
  6. Excellent signing; truly first-class. Now that Muhammad is on board, Angelo has a little more flexibilty on draft day. Although the WR core is nowhere near complete, he can now look at a few other positions a little more carefully. WR- I'm sorry, but Wade and Gage are not the answer. These two are #3 recievers on a good squad and that's where they deserve to be. Berrian is nothin more than a glorified special-teams player and should be used on the fly route only. I still have to believe Angelo has his eyes set on an impact offensive player with the #4 selection. He has made it known he does not plan on trading that pick away and I really think he's going to stick around and snag that offensive body: WR, RB, whatever he feels will most benefit the club. RB- With Muhammad on board, Angelo can toy around with the thought of drafting a RB with #4. Although the Bears organization is high on Jones (as well they should be), I think Benson, Carnell Williams, and Ronnie Brown take a look. Its going to be interesting to see what kind of combine Brown has, but I'm still a little apprehensive selecting him at #4. Honestly, I would take Benson with pick #4 if he were to fall, but I'd still take Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards on the offensive side of the ball. CB- Whoever thinks RW and Azumah are above-average corners are downright goofy. RW should be cut this season, and Azumah is far from tough, defensive corner. He's just too raw and is unable to cover the big recievers. Although I like him on special teams, he shouldn't be a #2, or even a nickel corner. If Angelo wants to go defense with #4, look for Rolle and Pac-Man to get a good look. I'm really high on Rolle and would be quite satisfied with that selection. QB- Angelo can't take a QB in the first round. Grossman is his boy and I think they really want to see what he can do when healthy. I think a QB will be brought in this season wheter its in the later rounds or via free agency. The Bears organization really likes Hutchinson and feel that after a full pre-season, he can be a very capable backup. David Terrell, you're plane is boarding.

    Wish me luck

Good luck buddy! I'm sure you'll find that working under a deadline actually improves your writing. You'll be fine!
  8. Ah yes, something else to remember (this just dawned on me): We are debating over the utility infield spot. Its the only battle on the roster. Can you believe it? We haven't been debating a fifth starter, in what seems like the first time in ages. Ah yes.... things will be a-ok.
  9. Kenny is really high on Ozuna. This isn't the first time I've seen him complement him and remark about his skills. I think Ozuna is the favorite right now because, as Kenny said, of his IF versitility. Something to remember: we don't need a lot of power or offensive production from that final utility IF spot. All the Sox need is a guy who can play multiple positions with limited errors and a half-way decent stick. I still think Valdez, Ozzie's guy, has an inside track, but Ozuna will be the guy everyone is watching. Who knows, maybe Ozuna impresses during ST and we found the utlity IF we have all been calling for already on the roster.
  10. ...check out Valdez's nose and cheek-bones.
  11. Great call on Orton. Another QB to watch will be Andrew Walter of ASU; a lot of scouts expect him to have an awesome combine.
  12. Well, a lot of the guys ranking anywhere from 8-15 ay any given position really look to impress at combines; a lot of times, its guys you would expect, but more times than not, the no-name prospects are the ones that put together really outstanding combines. Believe it or not, a lot of teams already have their minds set on who they like or don't like by just having watched film. I know we stress the importance of combines, but really, they are for guys coming off injuries or stuck behind the depth charts at stacked universites. Some guys to watch: Gore (RB Miami), Williams (WR ex-USC), Clarett (RB ex-OSU), Spears (DL LSU), Merriman (DE MARY), Rodgers (QB CAL), McPherson (QB Arena), Jones (CB WVU), Rolle (CB Miami) I also threw a quick list together on the guys I think are going to get exposed during combines. Orovsky (QB UConn) McLendon (RB NCST) McFadden (CB FSU) Look for all three of those guys to get nailed with the "overrated" tag. Personally, I want to see what kind of combines Gore, Williams, Clarett, Alex Smith, Derrick Johnson, and Antrel Rolle...also Cedric Benson and Ronnie Brown to a lesser degree have.
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) He looks too dark to be Wilson. Maybe it's Enemencio Pacheco? Nah, looking at his profile, it has to be Valdez. If not, than maybe Pablo Ozuna. But I'd bet dollars to doughnuts its Valdez.
  14. Why is Paul Davis crying every time I see him play? Every time. Never fails.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) I dunno but the guy top left almost looks like Diaz, perhaps. Sorry, its Wilson Valdez.
  16. Jose Contreras. For 4 months now, I've said "as Jose Contreras goes, so go the White Sox in 2005." I stick by that statement.
  17. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) I nominate your baby picture avatar as the Sox player rep. NOBODY would be screwing with our team then. That is the greatest pic of a baby of all time. I wite's avatar. It cheers me up everytime I see it.
  18. I posed this particular list because it is such a breath of fresh air. Although I don't agree with some of his seeding, I like his take on things and he supports his claims. But, Derrick Johnson at 14? This guy must really pride himself on being different.
  19. I'm sure we'll have roll call. Don't worry; there are ways of meeting up on gameday.
  20. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) good move by the raiders, now all they need a is a running back, possibly shaun alexander Then its going to have to come via trade. The Seahawks franchised him.
  21. Top 32 1. Alex Smith, QB, Utah: He has made a huge jump up most team's boards based on his junior season. He will be a big-time player. He's accurate and can move. Advertisement 2. Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan: This is the most-polished receiver in the draft, clearly the top at that position. He is a smooth player who makes it look easy. Love this kid. 3. Cadillac Williams, RB, Auburn: The feeling here is that he has more wiggle than the other two top backs, including teammate Ronnie Brown. Williams will be a Clinton Portis type of runner. 4. Ronnie Brown, RB, Auburn: He is a big, fast back who is stronger than Williams, but doesn't have Williams' elusiveness. Compared to Jamal Lewis by some scouts. 5. Dan Cody, DE, Oklahoma: He has great speed off the corner, which all teams want now with the rules now favoring the passing game. He is a little light at 260, so there are some concerns about his run defense. 6. Travis Johnson, DT, Florida State: Had a great senior season that has vaulted him to the top of his position list. At 6-4, 290, he has the size and speed to be a force inside. This is a player we have ranked higher than most, but we really like this kid. 7. Adam "Pac-Man" Jones, CB, West Virginia: He's a kid who says he can run 4.25. If that's the case, he'll be a top 10 pick. Jones is a smaller corner at 5-11, 185 pounds, but he's good in coverage. Could be the first corner off the board. 8. Cedric Benson, RB, Texas: He's a strong runner, but there are some concerns about the number of carries he's had at Texas. Plus, there is some talk in scouting circles that he is a Ricky Williams clone. He cut his dreadlocks to show teams he's not. 9. Thomas Davis, S, Georgia: This is a player I like a lot. He is big, fast and makes a ton of plays. He has played both safety and linebacker, but the feeling here is that he can be an impact safety in the NFL. Think a bigger Ed Reed. 10. Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami: He is a quality cover player, but there are some concerns about his speed. Some scouts want to see how fast he times out in the weeks leading up to the draft. 11. Mark Clayton, WR, Oklahoma: At 5-10, 185 pounds, a lot of scouts are worried about his size. But he went to the Senior Bowl and had a heck of a week, which puts him in the top 20. He is crisp in his route-running and seems to understand the passing game. 12. Alex Barron, T, Florida State: He follows Walter Jones and Tra Thomas as quality left tackles coming out of FSU. Barron has great feet and does a nice job in pass protection, but there are some scouts who don't think he's physical enough in the run game. 13. Aaron Rodgers, QB, California: There are more scouts coming off him some in the past month. How tall he measures at the combine will be key to his draft status. His motion is a concern, too. 14. Erasmus James, DE, Wisconsin: At the start of 2004, he had the look of a top five pick. But an ankle injury slowed him and teams have dropped him some. Big mistake. This kid will be a dominant player in the NFL. The one concern is the 2003 hip injury he suffered that forced him to miss that season. 15. Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas: He's ranked higher than this on most boards, but the feeling here is that he doesn't play as well as his reputation. He's tall and rangy, but I've seen him run around blocks. That's not a good thing. 16. Mike Williams, WR, USC: He is a big, physical player who can dominate with his size. The one concern is his speed. How fast will he run when he works out? It hurts that he didn't play last year, either. We don't like him as much as some teams do. 17. Brandon Browner, CB, Oregon State: A big corner at 6-4, he is a long, rangy player who excels in man coverage. Can also be physical with a receiver. With more and more NFL receivers getting bigger, his value will go up. 18. Shawne Merriman, DE/OLB, Maryland: Would be a perfect 3-4 outside linebacker. He played end for the Terps at 6-4, 245, but would need to gain some weight to be an every-down end. Has the speed off the edge teams love. 19. Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina: He averaged 19.4 yards per catch last season, which says a lot about his big-play ability. This guy can run. At 6-2, 200, he has good size to go with that speed. He's soaring up a lot of team's draft boards. 20. Khalif Barnes, T, Washington: He's got good size (6-5, 310) and he has outstanding feet. He missed six games with a wrist injury, but showed well at the Senior Bowl. This guy will go higher than most think 21. Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn: A cover corner who some scouts thought would be a mid-round pick entering his senior year. But he played well, advancing as a cover player, and should be gone by the end of Round 1. Advertisement 22. Channing Crowder, LB, Florida: He is the son of former NFL player Randy Crowder. He played two years at Florida before entering this draft. He is a tough, physical player, but he did have some off-field issues. 23. Shaun Cody, DE, USC: He played defensive end last year after three years at defensive tackle. At 6-5, 285 pounds, he is bigger than most ends. The issue for him will be his speed off the corner. Does he have the burst? 24. Marcus Spears, DE, LSU: Didn't have a great senior season, but did have a heck of a week at the Senior Bowl. That helped push him back into the first round. Teams crave defensive ends, which helps, too. 25. Roddy White, WR, Alabama-Birmingham: Here's another good-sized receiver (6-2, 210) who can run. White is a little raw, but the scouts think he can develop into a quality deep threat. 26. David Pollack, DE, Georgia: A player who gets by with effort more than skill. He is smallish for the end position at 6-2, 260 pounds, so there are some concerns about how he'll hold up against the run. He won't flop, but he may not be a star, either. 27. Jammal Brown, T, Oklahoma: A pure right tackle who excels in the run game. He can overpower his opponent. There are some worries about his pass-protection skills. 28. Matt Roth, DE, Iowa: A former linebacker, he is growing into the position. At 6-4, 265 pounds, he is big enough to be an effective every-down end. Plays hard all the time, which is what coaches want. 29. Reggie Brown, WR, Georgia: He has really risen up a lot of team's boards after an impressive showing at the Senior Bowl. Didn't get the attention that fellow Bulldogs receiver Fred Gibson did, but he's a better player. 30. Heath Miller, TE, Virginia: He could move up this board if he runs well in the next month. There are teams worried about his speed right now. 31. Anttaj Hawthorne, DT, Wisconsin: A powerful player who plays a position vital to any team's run defense. He's a power player who can also put pressure on the passer from the inside. 32. Mike Patterson, DT, USC: If he was three inches taller, he'd be a top 10 pick. As it is, he's only 5-11, which will hurt his draft stock. It shouldn't. He's a player. Whoever gets him will be getting a Warren Sapp-like player. Love this kid. Just missed: Brodney Pool, S, Oklahoma; David Baas, C, Michigan; Justin Miller, CB, Clemson; Kyle Orton, QB, Purdue; Ernest Shazor, S, Michigan; DeMarcus Ware, DE-LB, Troy State: Justin Tuck, DE, Notre Dame; Daryl Blackstock, LB, Virginia; Charlie Frye, QB, Akron; Marlin Jackson, S, Michigan; Kevin Burnett, LB, Tennessee. Linky----> Cbssportsline Prisco
  22. Well, this would take them out of the first round RB sweepstakes. I'm going to stick to my guns and say if Alex Smith falls to the Cards, they take him.

    Cola

I would take anyone in the tri-state area on in Duckhunt.
  24. Remember, Paulie is an orignal member of "Kenny's Boys." I'm not going to say Paulie is the face of the organization with guys like Frank and Mark around, but he's pretty damn close. Kenny stuck with Paulie through the slump and it paid off. I think both he and Reinsdorf would love Paulie back, even with Gload's inexpensive production. Ink him to the multi-year contract; Paulie's a fan favorite and worth the money in my esimation. IMHO, if he makes it to free agency, the Sox won't be getting him back...try to get it done during 2005.
