Honestly, yes I do. A top 5 draft pick and a defensive starter is more than enough for that *insert expletive deleted here*. Here's the thing, Angelo is in the position to draft a WR of Moss' calibur with that #4 pick without giving up anything in return. Yup, Williams is that good.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) So none of you are thinking about Herm as the replacement starter? Herm SP IP/ER Winnable: 6/1, 5+/1, 6+/2, 5+/1, 5+/2, 6/3, 7/2, 6/4, 6+/2, 7/0, 5/3, 6+/2, Horrible..: 3+/6, 5/4, 5/5, 5/4, 6/5, 5+/6 12 good starts, 6 bad starts beats any of our 04 AAAfodder guys. I think that's why KW was quick to get him along with the Duque signing. Oh no, I'm with you. The day Hermanson signed I figured we had our fifth starter. Actually, I was pissed when Kenny signed him because I thought we were going to see a Schoney type situation. I think Hermanson gets the spot start over the rookies if someone goes down.

If El Duque pitches over 200 innings, I'll set up a web cam and eat my hat. Is his stuff better than Silva's? Absolutely. Will his contrabution to the Sox better Silva's to the Twins? We'll see. Please, no heated arguements, none of your Nostradami (plural of Nostradamus?? ) will know until season's end. This is pure speculation.

ESPN Radio 1000 Reports....

aw jezzus...if this is true, I think the cuddly little Northsiders would be jumping off buildings on Clark and Addison. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) A healthy El Duque is much, much >>>>> than Silva. Definitely no comparison with those two, IMHO. Where can I find one of these healthy El Duques? I have yet to see one.

Who's the single-season home run champ?
AddisonStSox replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) Not really. Technically Maris had 7 more games to hit his 61. However, Maris played in only 156 games where Babe played in 151 in 1927. Babe had 705 total plate appearances and Maris had just 698, so in reality Babe got more chances. Put that in your pipe and smoke it qwert. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) I have the yankees ahead of the sox for a simple reason........Randy Johnson, Buehrle is absolutely great but he's not the Unit. I have the red sox in front because of schilling and the depth they have with 6 major league caliber starters. After that, I rank the sox 3rd because after Santana I'm skeptical on Minny's rotation, Radke had his career year last year and I'm not that high on Silva and Lohse and Mays are garbage, imo. Dude, what more could you possibly ask from Brad Radke? You know what you're getting. No skepticism.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) I'm not, but they have just as many, or more serious question marks as we do. But I would say they have more talent to be a better rotation. Here Here. That was my exact train of thought.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Well, like I said I have no problem with the way you ranked those rotations though imo I flip the sox and twins for now. Anyways with the yanks rotation you got pavano coming off a career year and switching from the nl to the al can he repeat what he did last year? Moose is coming off a injury and pitched poorly while he was healthy last year. Wright failed a physical and how's he going to pitch without mazzone? Brown is always injured. So the yanks have quite a number of ??? in their rotation also. Santo mentioned the ones with Boston's rotation. The question marks surrounding the sox are can Jose be consistant and can el duque stay healthy? All of these rotations have some questions, should be interesting to see how all of them turn out, jmo. Totaly agree. The Yanks have just as many question marks as anyone else. BUT, it terms of raw talent...Yank's question marks, or White Sox's question marks? I'd choose the former. Don't get me wrong, the White Sox rotation is nothing to scoff at.
-
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Of couse they do. No need of mentioning. However, how could they have "more" question marks than the Sox? EDIT: Eh, screw it. IMHO, Radke-Buehrle Santana>Garcia Silva-El Duque Lohse Mays I think a pre-season #4 is fair. ...and Santo, all things considered, you can't possible say the White Sox have a better rotation than the Red Sox. Is that what you're implying or am I reading it wrong?
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) I have no problem with that list but all the teams you mentioned have as many if not more question marks in their rotation then the sox. Of couse they do. No need of mentioning. However, how could they have "more" question marks than the Sox?
-
My list. 1. Yankees 2. Red Sox 3. Twins 4. White Sox (We have a lot of question marks fellas, sorry.) 5. Angels

Administration to Revive nuclear weapons studies

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Well the mini-nukes certainly would be but bunker busters are for the purpose of getting underground bunkers. I love this administration. :headshake :headshake -

Who's the single-season home run champ?
AddisonStSox replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I voted Maris. ...or maybe that's just me. I consider jucing to be cheating, thus negating all records. -
QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) i can live with .269, .337,.446, 10-15 hr's, 30-40 sb's, and gold glove caliber defense. oh, hes also a switch hitter. all i know is that i rather have him starting than Harris. Switch hitter?

I know I've been saying this for a very long time, but my mock Bears off-season should be up tonight.

I would love for Duke to come out and shell UNC...just to shut Vitale up. I could care less. I'm a big Coach K guy. I'm rooting for the local boy made good.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) I have learned that whenever Ozzie says something about a player, the 'organization' feels the complete opposite.......or at least acts like it. I really don't know how acurate that is. In fact, I couldn't disagree with that more. Ozzie and Kenny work quite well together and seem to value each other's opinion.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) As it's been said, Grilli was never really 100% last year. We never got to see what he could actual do. This move shouldn't hurt us, but it does suck to think we lost a little of that security. Ok, that's just about where I am on the situation. It was nice to have him come up and eat some innings, but I never truly felt like he put us in a position to win.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) Agree, ouch. It is now looking like Hermanson is the emergency starter and they'd bring someone up from the minors to fill a bullpen spot if necessary. They need some starting pitching depth ... Please excuse my ignorance here, but did you ever feel comfortable when Jason was on the mound? He seemed like a great guy, but I don't think he ever showed major league stuff. IMHO, I'd rather test out some minor leauge arms anywho. Who knows, maybe one of the fellas from the minors comes up and impresses. I think we're better with a Hermanson/minor leauger combo than Grilli. Just asking.
-
Wow. They must have seen something they liked, like putting Tigers runs on the board. Thing is, that doesn't happen when he's picthing FOR your team.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) About the money, IMO. I think this sucks. Why would you want to leave USC? Doesn't make sense to me. Its a stepping stone. Norm should have been hired years ago as a head coach in the NCAA, but nothing doing...so, he made a move to better himself. He's getting up there in age and he wants a taste of the NFL. More power to him. Hopefully, a good couple years in Tenn. and we'll see if he's still interested in taking a head spot in the NCAA. He's an excellent hire, about as close to a sure thing coming out of the college game as there is.
-
Excellent hire. Congrats Norm!!! Well deserved. Its about time.
