  1. Wow. Talk about tough luck for #88. From the poll to 30th in one lap. Ouch. I have him going in fantasy today.
  2. Aw man...the one guy I'm looking for in a Sox uniform is no where to be found. Where's good ol' #12? I can't wait to see him in Black and Silver.
  3. After reading the piece on El Duque and Contreras and this bit on Iguchi and El Duque, I'm feeling rather spiffy today. Wow. Those two pieces really made me feel a little better on two or three of the biggest question marks on the roster. Who knows, maybe this is the year El Duque stays healthy.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) We have a fifth starter this year troll boy. Care to explain why all these rookies from last year won't undergo a sophmore slump like Jody last year? Because...um...the Indians are better than the Sox, so deal with it. I have no evidence to back my claims, neither stats nor anything else. Um....but we are better. Cause...um...I said so. :headshake
  5. Alright fellas, who do you love coming out of the college game in 05'? These guys could be high-profile, upper-tier prospects; they could be low-profile, sleeper types; or, they could be guys that have gotten absolutely no attention on any front. This is the place to make your case for your sweethearts. Addy's Sweetheart List #5 Ryan Moats, RB, Louisana Tech -Ryan 5'9", 209, 4.54 40 time; Ryan is a hard worker that really produces for the team. He's very light on his feet and has the always has the ability to take it the distance. Powerful runner and very athletic. #4 Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas -Derrick 6'4", 230, 4.50 40 time; what can be said of Derrick that hasn't already be mentioned? He's an unreal talent; I've never seen a more complete LB coming out of the college game since Ray Lewis. Amazing instincts. Seems like he is always making a big play. The #1 prospect on my board. #3 Charlie Frye, QB, Akron -Charlie 6'4", 228, 4.65 40 time; Charlie is a great leader, both in the lockeroom and on the field. Very athletic and smart football player. First-class accuracy. In my estimation, he's the consensus #3 QB in the draft and the heir-apparent to Favre in Green Bay. #2 Marlin Jackson, DB, Michigan -Marlin 6'1, 196, 4.40 40 time; Marlin is a natural athlete that is very aggressive on the field. He has great size and is always capable of making a big play. Very good in coverage. With so many strong corners, I think Marlin is being overlooked. He is very capable of a first round selection and will be an above average defender in the NFL for many years to come...one of my favorite defensive players in the draft. He's awesome. #1 Frank Gore, RB, Miami - Frank 5'10", 220, 4.46 40 time; Frank is my guy. I absolutely love him. Before suffering two blown ACLs in consecutive seasons, Frank was the #1 RB prospect in the nation coming out of high school and was #1 on the Miami depth chart above both Clinton Portis and Willis McGehee. He is an excellent runner that gets low to the ground. Very powerful on his feet. He is an excellent leader on the field and has shown great character in coming back from two big surgerys. In my opinion, if he stayed healthy during his time at Miami, he would have been a sure thing for a first-round selection. If he falls to the third round, and I think he will, a team would be very lucky to have him and may have drafted the RB of the future. I would LOVE for the Bears to pick up Gore somewhere in the middle rounds as I think he'll be a winner in the NFL. I'll be singing his praises from now until April 23.
  6. There's been a changing of the guard on the Southside. Willie no longer fits in the team's plans. Kenny locked in on Vizquel. He looked at Cora. He showed tons of interest in other guys, before ultimately singning a guy he never saw from Japan. That should tell you want this organization thinks about Harris. Let him showcase himself in spring training and then dish him when his value is up. Believe me, there will be plenty of interest (he could do quite well in the NL). He's not a bench player.
  7. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) I'll add my analysts. Here are my predictions. I am fair and balanced here. 1. TWINS 92-70 2. Indians 88-74 3. Sox 85-77 4. Tigers 79-83 5. Royals WHO CARES! I posted these before and I still was trashed. And I was dead on last year so hopefully this year as well. I also have CBS and a few others. That's not analysis Einstein; those are predictions. You do know what baseball is right? Can you describe a ground rule double for us? What a goof. :headshake :headshake :puke
  8. W I my Illini--a double digit win at Iowa. Hey Krush, you guys sounded great. The announcers were saying they never so much opposing color in an arena. Bring on those scary, purple Wildcats!
  9. Can we please ban this clown? It was fun for awhile, but its getting real old. He doesn't add anything to any arguement he is in. Its always "The Indians are better than the Sox so deal with it." Never once have I seen any baseball analysis or any general sports knowledge come out of him. If you think the Indians are going to be better than the Sox, let's see it statisicly, or, let's hear an actual arguement based off of some analysis or baseball knowhow.
  10. QUOTE(quickman @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Jim I don't believe it at all. he has to say that because he wants Willie to play hard. A hard playing Willie makes for a better trade. People will be watching this spring. He gone by opening day. I hope I never see the little s*** again. Tell him to take his cell phone with him. My sentiments exactly. Here Here!
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 19, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) You know what I will bet any amount you can conceive the Sox will win more games than the Tribe. I'll second that. With that type of pitching staff, the Tribe better hope they remain in the running by the all-star break. How can you sit here and say you're comfortable with that picthing staff. Its god-awful. Absolutely horrendous and you know it. We'll see how far that "Let's bash the hell out of the ball and have no pitching" mentality takes you. Really, we'll see.
  12. That is quite possibly the poorest power rankings I have ever seen. Again, those things mean next to nothing. Games are played between the lines, not on paper. Come Sept, we'll see who has the better record. Methinks the Indians are still a few years away. Look at that rotation. Look at that bullpen. Yuck. Awful.
  13. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) I'd like to see Willie still here. He could be a good super sub. The Willie bashing is unnecessary. Willie bashing...in this thread? Man, you ain't seen nothing yet. This is child's play compaired to most Willie bashing fests (more times than not, spearheaded by yours truly).
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Wow, the official team release calls it a bad season. I smell bad blood here or an organization who is unprofessional. Yup, I was thinking the same thing. I know Jeff did his fair share of complaining in Cleveland, irreparable damage must have been done. I think the Charlie Frye situation is very logical Phf; if the right trade presents itself, that may very well happen. However, many mocks had the Browns selecting Smith without Garcia's departure, this almost makes it automatic.
  15. Could this mean Alex Smith is a lock for the Browns? I think so. NFL Link
  16. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) I do think "shutdown" is overused for corners. People are looking for the next Dunta Robinson, not hte next Trufant. And when I say that I mean a rookie that plays like a vet in year 1, whereas Trufant looks wonderful but had some gorwing pains. I've read antoine windfield-pac comps and they sound reasonable My CB rankings. #1 Rolle (Miami) HEIGHT 6'1" WEIGHT 205 40 TIME 4.45 Projected Top 10 XVal=98.0 #2 Jones (WVU) HEIGHT 5'11" WEIGHT 185 40 TIME 4.4 Projected Top 30 A little undersized XVal=82.5 #3 Miller (Clemson) HEIGHT 5'11" WEIGHT 180 40 TIME 4.40 Projected Top 30 Love this kid XVal=84.5 #4 Rogers HEIGHT 6'1" WEIGHT 195 40 TIME 4.45 Projected Top 20 XVal=94.5 #5 Jackson HEIGHT 6'1" WEIGHT 200 40 TIME 4.40 Projected Top 32 XVal=80.5 One of my favorite players in the draft
  17. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) Meant combine numbers. Edwards projected 40 is better than Williams. Also think Edwards will put up a pretty good vert, etc. SB Know what, I still think Williams are better, but I'm going to have to check on that. He should have him in the 40 and other speed drills, but Williams has an advantage in vert and hands. I wouldn't be suprised one bit if Edwards combine numbers are fantastic, in fact, his comine numbers may surpass Williams'; but, as we all know, combines aren't an end-all, be-all when assessing talent. I think what Williams shows in his combine will be enough to move ahead of Edwards on draft day.
  18. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) I've heard good thngs about Johnson, you may be right. I think it's a bad draft this year though. I picked Pac-Man because he looks like a potential lockdown guy Jones isn't the only lockdown corner in this year's draft. Some other names to consider: Rolle (Miami), Rogers (Auburn), Miller (Clemson). In my opinion, Rolle has more talent than Jones, however its still too raw for some teams' liking. But, yes, you are right in your assessment, Pac-Man will be lockdown in the NFL, no doubt.
  19. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Barring some freakish bad performance at the combine, Johnson is the best player in this draft. Also, if Williams put up the numbers he did last year, wouldnt Edwards projected numbers be better? SB I hope your taking a shot at the fact he didn't play any ball last year. Yes, Edwards numbers would be better by leaps and bounds.
  20. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Here's a nice site for NFL draft info by the way. http://www.nflfans.com/draft/ That's an excellent site. I know quite a few of the fellas that run it. I do have issue with some of their player rankings, however. Punch, if I had a blank roster in front of me and I could take any one player in the draft this year, it would be Derrick Johnson; in fact, its Derrick in blowout fashion.
  21. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) do you mean consensu #1 overall or first round pick? I think he's picked top 12 at the latest pretty much no matter what. Earliest? 4 I guess Consensus #1 WR. Not consensus #1 draft choice...BIG difference. Its important to note, some respected analysits have made the claim Williams deserves the "#1 prospect" title; Johnson gets that honor on my board.
