  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:48 AM) My prediction: Frank Will hit 25 Hrs the next 2 years. Come back in 2008 with the white sox and Hit # 500. He will retire after 2008. I own that card in your avatar. Wow. Haven't seen that one in awhile.
  2. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Maybe a little Dark Phoenix story arc in there as well, the way Jean was throwing stuff around in the teaser. That's my guess, too. We know Phoenix is in it because of the end of the second film and looking at Jean's persona, I think Dark Phoneix is in the cards. Can't f'ing wait. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) yeah....despite the costume flaws (maybe they look flawed because there is only a glimpse of them in the trailer.) this movie is going to kick ass I was worried there for awhile. They were having a tough time getting this one off the ground, but, luckily they have the original cast still in-tact and will be able to complete the triology. Can't wait.
  3. Ok...I haven't watched it yet, but, let me just say I was more pumped for this film than Star Wars Episdode III and Lord of the Rings combined. Never a comic book fan, but loved the X-men cartoons as a kid and absolutely love the films. Again, haven't seen it yet, but Phoneix is going to kick all forms of ass.
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) Just giving you some ribbing, relax. ...for her pleasure?
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Not shocked in the least. Frank Thomas is the prototype/stereotypical Moneyball player...takes walks, hits for power, hits for a solid average, can't play defense. Gonna be weird seeing him in that piss and puke though. I think or hope everyone here wishes Frank nothing but the best. Also Addy...I, personally dont want him retiring as an Oakland Athletic. I want him retiring as a Chicago White Sox. I'm hoping you mean one of those ceremonial Emmit Smith retirements. If so, you can have it...too hokey for my tastes.
  6. ...and with that, the White Sox bid farewell to the best player ever to don their uniform. Do it right, Frank. Finish your career with the A's and don't become a Kenny Lofton/Ricky Henderson. That's all I ask. Best of luck to Big Frank.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) The idea might be also that if you get Burroughs, and hope that he blossoms into the hitter people thought he would be. If he does show the ability, then you can let Crede go next offseason, when he'll likely require a nice chunk of change. I also don't think that Ozzie and Marte can give it another round. In my humblest of opinions, this is a MUCH greater issue than a lot of folks are willing to recognize. From what I've seen of our belov'ed manager, you're either with him or against him...and if you're not, you're headed to Milwaukee. I'm very interested to see how this plays out.
  8. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) Yeah, I do...better to get a "cancer" off the team and get anything you can for him. I'm just saying I hope you can get a little more, a minor leaguer or something, even if they are just trying to get him moved. Yup, I'll absolutely agree with that. And, for what it's worth, I'd much prefer a happy, healthy Damaso Marte than Mike Myers. Despite Myers lefty-splits being much better than Damaso's, Marte is the more-talented pitcher and is someone familiar to the clubhouse and inner-workings of the ballclub. For Kenny's sake, for Damaso's sake, and for our sake, I just hope he didn't burn any bridges and is able to come back and contribue in 2006.
  9. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) How about Miguel Cairo? I know he's a right-handed bat, but he's pretty steady in the field, can play everything but short and CF...AND he's Venezuelan. Plus he's only 31. Just a thought. There aren't too many LHB infielders out there. The other thought I had, is Jose Vizcaino. He can play all the infield positions and switch-hits. He'll be 38, but might not be a bad backup plan. Marte for a 3B back-up in Burroughs? I certainly hope we get someone else if that is the case. You have to understand I'm conjecturing on the basis of a belief that Marte and Ozzie can't co-exist next season. If they have buried the hachet and are willing to move on, then, no, you absolutely wouldn't do that trade. You see where I'm going with this...
  10. I've mentioned Burroughs about two weeks ago. That's one guy I'm interested in seeing what the asking price would be. Former first-round draft selection that hasn't amounted to much in San Diego...might be a change of scenary type. A deal surrounding Marte for Burroughs w/ the signing of Mike Myers would do it for me. BTW, I'm thrilled to hear Kenny say he's not interested in acquiring any outfielders...THRILLED! Atta' boy, Kenny. No blockbusters. Get your backup/versatile infielder and call it an off-season.
  11. Thunder. Lightning. ...s'all I'm gonna say.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) Meet the Mets.... Come on down and meet the Mets........
  13. These first thirty minutes have brought us a recap of the moves and signings already made this off-season and non-stop Mets talk. So, a half hour into the show, and we've yet to move away from the East Coast. As trite as that sounds, those accusations have been spot-on.
  14. Freezing just doesn't quite describe it...
  15. QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) not sure where to put this...but i didnt think it needed its own thread...so ill just put it in FA resource, even tho it was a trade rumor....was being the key word per gammons.... The White Sox said they were interested in Vazquez, but the Diamondbacks wanted to tie Glaus to him. Only feasible name I can come up with to tie to this rumor would be Jon Garland. If Garland expressed some desire to sign with another club after the 2006 season, I could see Kenny showing some mild interest. But, when I really think about it. Nothing doing.
  16. Historically, those tackle and sack numbers need to rise if he is to be considered the favorite for the award. I went back in my notebook, though, and took a look at what I had for Vasher, here's what I had written: -Needs to remain at the CB position if he is to play regularly on Sundays -Has a nose for the football, always seems to be in the right place at the right time -Very impressive hands for a DB, tying Texas' school record with 17 INCs -Runs about 4.4-4.8 fourty -Decent open-field tackler -Can make a big play -Under-sized -Has to improve back-peddle -Can he handle the Moss'es of the NFL? -Will he ever catch on as a starter? Oops. I think he has what it takes to be considered amongst the league's elite DBs within the next year or two.
  17. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) 2 years, $14.25 million is about market value for a pitcher like Byrd (see Loaiza's contract). So, were you able to sneak back into WSI as well?
  18. If it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck...
  19. Imagine being a Cubs fan right now. Just imagine it. I, for one, don't care what the rest of Soxtalk says, I take an extreme amount of pleasure watching these "die-hards" blast their team, front-office, fan-base, etc. This is just priceless. As we're hoisting our World Championship flag, they'll be watching Carlos Zambrano, or, better yet, Mark Prior pitching yet another meaningless opening-day ballgame. I'm going to have to start looking up while walking down the streets. I really think those fans holding out some hope are just going to go ahead and jump. It's over, Cubs fans. You're headed back to the cellar for twenty years. Bad. No. No. How dare you pretend to field a major-league team!?
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) That picture he just posted reminded me of his old Dye sig, then I thought they have a similar posting style minus personal attacks ad nauseam to go along with an Ozuna fetish. Yeah, this Jabroni is much more enjoyable sans personal attacks. Posting style is nearly identical, though. I think the only x-factor is not having 7000 posts by this time--that would have been a dead give-away.
  21. QUOTE(LDF @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) was he banned, remember i was gone for a long time. Many times.
  22. Yeah, I actually posted, "when are you going to come out of the Aidan/Jabroni closet?" He PM'ed me back saying he had no idea what I was talking about. It's really obvious. I'm suprised he's lasted this long. It took a little longer, but, sure enough, this account is also a rash all over Soxtalk. EDIT: Point of clarification: coming back under another name is against board rules, is it not?
  23. Yeah, well, it's no "Where there's thunder, there's lightning," but, I'll take it.
