  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) On a side note, is John Danks related to the White Sox draft pick Jordan Danks who went to the University of Texas instead of signing? Yup: brothers.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) IMO South Park is the best show on the air, and they attack everyone, but do it in a rational way, I love it. You got that right, my man. I have never written a "fan letter" in my life, but, after having seen this week's episode, I've been compelled to write those two a letter professing their genius and my appreciation for the brilliant work they put together. This episode was SO far ahead of its time, it's not even funny...much like Beavis and Butthead in the 90s. These two write a political/societal commentary week-in-and-week-out and are able to pass it off as sophomoric dick and fart jokes out of the mouth of grade schoolers. Seriously? I really hope this humor is being appreciated for what it truly is. After an absolutely genius episode, they challenge the church to sue them at the end and then make John and Jane Smith all the credits. Are you kidding me? Just brilliant. I can't say enough about this show.
  3. I just heard through the grapevine we scored tickets to the World Series Viewing Party held Monday(???) at the Chicago Theatre(???)...does that sound right? Corporate connections + White Sox players at a gala-type viewing party = one happy Sox fan. Anyone have further information or actually attending?
  4. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Well, I HOPE he stays healthy for a full season and gets that experience under his belt. Lefties with his kind of stuff don't come along every day. Not sure if having 5 pitches hurts him more than it helps him, but I would just hope for health and gaining experience, some success to build that confidence. When healthy, he has great stuff, but seems to be all over the place at times, which makes him succeptible to the big inning. We'll see, long way to go for Wes. Can you speak to his "stuff?" That's pretty encouraging seeing the minds of Baseball America think the kid doesn't know how to pitch. His stuff good enough to make that jump?
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) Very true, and he hit into that 1-2-3 double play in Detroit in the last series up there. But as I recall, people were on Ozzie's ass big time for that maneuver, saying there was no way he should've had Blum hit in that situation. My point is, I take issue with the all-or-nothing labeling that goes on at this site. I actually get quite a kick out of the flip-flopping that takes place. It is not easy for me to come on here and defend a Bruce Levine or some of these players (and manager and GM) who get torched here, just because I firmly believe there is a lot more to all these situations than meets the eye ... and they are things that we as fans are simply not privy to. None of us. Hey Jim, where's TQ been? Long time no see with him; I would have at least expected some guest appearances when our freaking team won the World Series!
  6. Growing up in Little Italy with lots of "uncles" was nothing like that. Nothing. I assure you. The trilogy has to be considered amongst the best films ever made...absolutely amazing, brilliant cinema.
  7. I'm assuming Sean Burroughs can be had for a steal?
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) I don't own an Xbox. But you're right. Seems like an Xbox trade. Maybe KW and Gillick own an Xbox though because they seem to be talking trade. I Trade Winds. When am I just going to learn. Fool me once...
  9. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) Cas some people on this board aren't smart enough to realize that and just think a move would be "too big" for the White Sox. And I'm seen as a pessimist around here, ha. Settle down there, young one. It ain't happening. Plug your X-Box in and trade for whoever you want to. It's really amazing. You can put anyone you want on the Sox. Go for it. Throw common sense to the wind.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Pierre has no place on this team. Offensive prodcution goes down, and defensive liabilities go up. Not only that but our payroll goes up essentially from adding Scott Podsednik part 2. Im glad that KW wouldnt think along these lines, because we would SUCK. Atta' boy, Rock. My man.
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) Anyone found any confirmation on this? Like money and time? I don't see any releases in my usual places to look. This was reported in Puerto Rico, I believe. That would explain why you aren't seeing anything yet. Josh is a solid contributer, I believe if this was reported in PR, it will make its way here in the form of some White Sox press release or such.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) As far as I'm concerned the 2006 minimum payroll will be 85 million and If the Sox are able to get a deal for Delgado/Thome (ie, one that makes sense in terms of players given up) you'll see the payroll allowed to go closer to 90 million. Ok, well, the debate ends here. I believe you will not see the payroll increased nearly to that degree...and certainly not $90M.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) From the sounds of it the Sox aren't waiting on Thome. They'd jump on him and hope the Konerko situation worked itself out. The last thing the white Sox want to do is have Konerko walk and have zero options at 1st and DH. If that happens opposing GM's have all the bargaining power because they know the Sox are desperate. Kenny acts now and he gets better value and based on the quotes thats exactly what he plans to do. I expect the Sox to make a large move by the end of the Winter meetings. You make an excellent point. But, I have been one of those consitently expecting a very similar 2005/2006 payroll. Anyway you cut it, that would mean a major jump in payroll, yes? Unless, of course, some Sox player with a larger contract is included in the deal--and spitballing, I can't come up with that scenario. Not probable. Not impossible. But, not probable.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) If you erase Thome from last year, he is the better player. Neither here nor there. Simply stating expecting both in the same lineup is not realistic. That's up for an entirely different debate.
  15. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Bad defense means weak arm right? Does rowand have bad defense because of the s*** arm he had shown all last year? Pierre would be our second best outfielder. Oh, bloody hell. Yes, weak arm. I didn't think that needed clarification. EDIT: and from what I've seen...he has Podsednik-esq jumps. Poor defender given his fantastic speed. So, I'll stand by my statement.
  16. Alright, let's pull it in just a little bit. Do NOT expect to see both Konerko and Thome etched in the same 2006 lineup together on the Southside of Chicago. Thome would be a member of the Pale Hose, if, and only if, Konerko's contract demand can not be met, or the Sox wish to part ways with Paulie. You will not be seeing both in the same lineup...at least not in Black and Silver.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) Juan isn't trash at all, he's been a very good leadoff hitter for all of his career. That being said there really is no room for him on this team. He was one of the biggest disappointments in all of baseball last year. Check out that on-base percentage. You want that, coupled with bad defensive play, as a member of your 2006 outfield? You can have it.
  18. This guy is trash. The other team in this city can have him. Pass. I welcome your statistics.
  19. Looking back, I knew we were primed for success as soon as the utility role was the biggest point of contension in spring training. I welcome Pablo and that big, shiney ring of his back in 06'.
  20. Traded to the scene of his horrific collision in right-center field.
