I am digging the "Moooose" chant, though. Also, hats off to the Bears defense. Those guys deserve every bit of praise they recieve. No over-rated talk there, they're legit.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Wouldn't it be worth it just to hear how many times Hawk could say the phrase "Sweet Lou"? One of these years also, Steinbrenner is going to just give up and fire Torre. If they miss the playoffs this year...who knows. Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but there has been a lot of speculation of both Cashman and Torre out the door this year. I'm 99% certain Cashman's contract ends after this season and if his Steinbrenner-hand-picked Yankees fail to make the post-season, I think you very well may see both Cashman and Torre out of the Bronx. If that's the case, enter Lou Piniella.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Good, Ozzie didn't do his silly "All righty" lineup like he did against Santana. Although...will Everett ever sit for complaining? Nope. He's one of Ozzie's boys. -
Alright, I understand if this one just isn't doable. But, in the rare event you wouldn't mind creating a Packer graphic, could you make a Brett Favre wall. Thoughts/suggestions: Simply The Best ...if you could make it in the mold of the Julius Jones wall, that would be most excellent. Here's hoping ya give it a shot! Thanks in advance my man!

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) We'll get it in. It has playoff implications so lightning would have to strike the field for us not to get it in. Yes, good point. Thanks. Go Buehrle. Pitch with a pair today. -

Hey gang, what's the weather situation like in the city? Are we getting this one in? -
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Addy, how did I know your post would be something along those lines? Doug Brien, your plane is boarding. Can we do anything right? Or does every team in this city have to be pure torture to watch? It doesn't seem to matter what sport I'm watching, but points, runs, and goals always seem almost impossible for any Chicago team to accrue. But, but, but... Kyle Orton is teh mang!@@#%@ AWFUL!

Sox v. Twins Official Game Thread 9/24/05

So, who was the pitcher out there in the first inning? -
Bold Prediction: The Sox won't score another run this evening. Far from turn-around.

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) I still shake my head when he went to the bullpen and nobody was warming up. You just had me laughing out loud. Classic.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) no offense taken I raise the idea only because we've blown so many leads in the late innings recently. We don't have a reliable closer. Today Guillen suggested that Cotts might get a chance. Give me the duke over Cotts anyday. No need to defend yourself, Kid. Actually, this sort of thread was kinda refreshing. It was almost a look back to the post-season threads instead of the doom and gloom we have been reading lately. It's a good baseball talk.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Right now I wouldn't falter Uribe or Crede to hit in the 3 spot. Even Jermaine Dye or someone of that nature. If you want to keep Everett in the lineup (cause a hot Everett would make things a lot better) than I don't have a problem with it. Just don't continue to hit him in the 3rd spot. Its a stupid idea. I realize Ozzie wants to have continuity in his lineup and doesn't want to move guys all over the place, but find someone else and ride the hot hand in the 3 spot, let Everett adjust and take a little pressure off him by moving him down in the lineup until he figures things back out. Otherwise, start playing Gload for a week straight and see what he does. We all know he can hit. Notice the very crafty wording to avoid an otherwise deadly message-board sentence.

Time to pull it back in, gang. I'll try to sprinkle just a little dose of reality in a GM thread. Not everyday you get the opportunity to do that. First off, the sheer number of moves you guys think Kenny will be making is downright silly. He made such an abnormal amount of move this off-season because this was as close to an absolutle over-haul as we'll be seeing for quite some time. This off-season marked the transition from bad defense, no speed, free-swinging White Sox, to pitcher-happy, speedy, "Ozzie-ball" White Sox. We will not be seeing that many moves again. Now, with that all said, here's what I'd like to see happen. It doesn't even have to be these players...just something in this general direction. 1) Re-sign Paul Konerko to a 3 year deal. I have completely changed Konerko-camps over the course of this season. The Sox need this guy's bat in the lineup for the next 3 years. It's not everyday you can get that type of power-production from a clean, hometown favorite. He needs to be back. 2) Let Frank Thomas walk. Thanks for the memories, Frank...and believe me, there are a lot of them. But, you've played your last game as a member of the White Sox. 3) Lock up Jon Garland for the next 3 seasons. 4) Bring Crede back via arbitration. 5) Let Everett and Timo walk giving Brian Anderson a concrete roster-spot with the chance of becoming an everyday player. 6) Re-sign Cliff Politte and Chris Widger--that is, if he still wants to play ball. NOTICE: I have YET to bring in any new faces...that is what we should ALL be expecting. Re-signing some old faces while letting others walk. New Additions: 1) Trade Jose Contreras, Damaso Marte and a combination of prospects for a guy LIKE Mark Texiera. (Yeah, how many Mark Texieras are there. ) 2) Seriously pursue both Furcal and either Burnett or another SP you can sign to a two year deal. 3) New bullpen arm. Period. So...let's take a look at the "NEW" White Sox. C) Pierzynski 1B) Texiera 2B) Iguchi SS) Furcal 3B) Crede/Uribe OF) Podsednik OF) Rowand OF) Dye DH) Konerko SP Buehrle SP Garcia SP Garland SP NEW SP ADDITION SP McCarthy Bullpen: El Duque, Politte, Cotts, NEW ADDITION, Hermanson, Jenks Realistic...YES! EDIT: Keeping with the realistic motif, this is worth noting. Per Rotoworld: The Rangers tried opening negotiations on a long-term deal with Mark Teixeira after the All-Star break, but agent Scott Boras was only prepared to accept a three-year deal taking the slugger through his arbitration years or a monster 10-year contract. A deal that would but out one, two or three years of free agency doesn't interest Boras, not when Teixeira should be able to command a huge six- to eight-year deal when he becoems a free agent after 2008. It seems unlikely that anything will get done

I've actually been fortunate enough to share a drink or two...be it legal or not...at my cousin's favorite spot in Lincoln Park--I'm not going to divulge the info or whatever, so don't ask. He works the Chicago Police 4-4 shift and I tagged along a few times. It was actually during the Dodgers series. Pierzynski was in there with Rowand, Wunsch and Wunsch's wife. All real nice. Rowand wouldn't shut up. Pierzynski was actually pretty quiet.
