Is there anyway we can have Jose Contreras and Brandon McCarthy pitch all remaining ballgames? Just asking. Fork.
-
Does this mean we have to take Jon Garland's Cy Young award back. :headshake Where'd all those folks go?
-
Even if we don't make the playoffs, both Ozzie Guillen and Kenny Williams will be back. Let's not get carried away, ok folks? That's just silly-talk.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) Rowand did that against Anaheim last Friday. Molina isn't the smallest guy either. God bless him. Those guys have guts. You would never catch me doing that--for one, I don't play professional baseball--especially against the Royals in the early innings. -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) I didn't say he had to plow him. Slide head first off the bag and try to get one hand in there. Make the catcher work somewhat. Sliding headfirst into home is a MAJOR no-no. Especially if you aren't the most nimble of baserunners. That has seperated shoulder written all over it. -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) That looked like someone who didn't care if they scored the run or not. That looked like someone knew he was pegged the second he saw his third-base coach waiving him home. -

If this was touched on yesterday, I apologize. But, did anyone else notice DJ's dig aimed at Damaso yesterday? Priceless. End of the exchange... Hawk: I heard, neck. DJ: Yup, there is definately an injury above the shoulders. Hawk: -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) Respect the powers of Willie...I see a 2-3 game, with a walk. 0-4 Three failed attemps to "guide" the ball into RF like a professional hitter and one warning-track power shot to straight away center. Let's just get a win today. I don't care how. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) Awesome wall Simon. LT is the man. Now you're giving him credit for stuff he isn't even doing? Don't get me wrong, Simon does some amazing stuff...but, that one is 100% Goldy.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) I've never been a huge fan of Azumah, the corner. Nickel-back, okay, fine, you can hide him a little more, but certainly not a #1 or #2 in my mind. What'd'you think of "Zoom"? Know what, Keith? You took the words right outta my mouth. I mean, nearly the exact sentence I was going to write. I think as a nickle-back, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone with his talent on nearly any team around the league. But, as you've stated, I really don't like Zoom-the corner. I think his style of play is more suited for a kickoff-punt return type player with some additional coverage available at the nickle package. Really, I just think he's awfully raw to be a starting corner. Who knows? Maybe he'll really come on this year and impress the heck out of me. Wouldn't be the first time a Bears DB was able to do that. This will be a very important year regarding his development and really, just those gutsy-feels and reads for the ball.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Every free agent is unrestricted... Oh for cripes' sake...point being: we couldn't trade for him even if we wanted to. He'll be a free agent, not available via trade.
-
I don't think anyone can question a move regarding Bears db's. Having seen what they were able/are able to accomplish with the eclectic group of db's they have, I refuse to question any decision regarding those positions. I mean, there really isn't a stand-out, impact player in the bunch. I suppose arguments can be made for Tillman and Azumah--and in time, Vasher--but, we don't have what a lot of scouts would call lock-down db's. We just have a bunch of gutsy players that make it work. I'm actually looking forward to see how this plays out.

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) i gotta complete disagree with you. besides the fraternity's that actually have a purpose ( ie: business ones, etc), the only reason they are around is so people that feel the need to "have friends" can. Why not join a few clubs and meet people that actually share a common interest with you instead of "brotherhood". The greek system promotes a continuation of the high school mentality where you "have to be in the in crowd". Alot of the disagreement for me at least, is that i don't want to live the frat lifestyle, i rarely drink, etc..... Get over yourself bra. To disagree with their way of life is one thing, but, to purposely go out of one's way to bash them...whatever. Truth of the matter is you're belov'ed Illinois is home to the largest Greek system in the US. To be independant is almost to be in the minority. Greek life isn't all paddles and binge-drinking. ...and, I'm out. Have a good one.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) It's just hilarious that he thinks i want to be in a frat. Comical. Get over yourself. There are dumbass fraternities and there are ones that actually have their head screwed on right. If you think you are above them, then good for you. They are obviously doing something right to have been around for as long they have. But, if you're too cool for them, than I think that's just great (GDI).

Ross, you going this year? I oughta be there.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:47 AM) Welcome aboard to Soxtalk. Let's just hope this doesn't affect Marte's trade value significantly. He could be a good pawn to use in a Rowand + Marte for Juan Pierre, or Marte + El Duque + prospect for Chad Tracy. And in the off-season, expect the Sox to go after another lefty for the pen. Candidates include Scott Eyre, Scott Sauerbeck, Ricardo Rincon, Chris Hammond and Valerio De Los Santos. If I'm not mistaken, Juan Pierre is a UFA after this season. Expect many teams, including the cuddily ones from the Northside to make serious attemps to bring him in.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) I am currently working on a revolutionary new razor. It's an old-time hockey goalie mask ( the form-fitting plastic one ) with 15,000 blades attached to the inside. Slide the mask on and VOILA!! The closest shave you have ever had!!! Unfortunately, there is one glitch.....when you try to slide the mask OFF, your face is sliced to ribbons. Still working on that one......bear with me..... Thanks for the laugh. Really needed that one today. Coming soon: Schick Octagon. Eight levels of shaving excellence.

Ouch. Someone is sour grapes. Did a frat guy s*** on your coat or something Kenny? I don't get the animosity.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) He was sacked less than twice a game when he started last year, and we led the NFL in rushing, so the O line couldnt have been that bad. And who is to say Turner is that much better of a Coordinator? We have no sample size to confirm that, other than the fact that we have no running game. Grossman doesnt deserve anything. They gave him the starting role, didnt bring in a capable backup because they didnt want to "harm" his confidence, and he has done nothing but let the bears down. He is done as a starter with this team. You are aware this is Turner's second installment as Chicago Bears OC, right? I do agree with the rest of the post, however. -
Hi, um, is this the Greasy and SnB show? YOU GUYS SUCK! Baba booey baba booey, Howard Stern's penis! ...still awfully confused.

Ya know, now that this is a pointless argument, you wouldn't mind me posting this link. Take note--that is, ya know, if you want to--of how the US Committee refers to those "displaced Americans," those, "evacuees." Notice, I was able to find this link without subscribing to the AP Wire. http://www.refugees.org/
