  1. ...and, that also means we are just that much closer to the NFL Draft! 233 Days, 23 minutes, 7 seconds...and counting. I'm still in baseball mode though. It's not every year our belov'ed Sox keep us that interested in post-season baseball.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) sorry Add, I didnt mean to repeat your comments, I didnt see your post. No problem. If Kenny could sell Texas on a Contreras-Marte-whomever else package for Tex, he oughta be enshrined in Cooperstown. Tex has the potential to be one of the best power-production hitters of this generation...you don't exactly trade that away. I don't care if you have Roger Maris in your farm system.
  3. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Doesn't Texiera play 1B? So if we do that- that means bye bye Pauly? Paulie is gone after 05' anyway, my man.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) If anyone from Texas is available it is Texiera, as they have Adrian Gonzalez waiting in the wings. They have tried to trade their power hitters for pitching in the past, and I could really see a Marte/Contreras for Texiera deal being something that could happen. Would Texas have to include a gun and a bag with a $ on it in that deal? Goodness gracious. That would be the steal of the decade. Texiera is only the fifth player in the history of baseball to his 100HR in his first 3 years.
  5. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) Not that I want to think about next year right now (with the year we are having) but our 5 starting pitchers are signed at least through the 2006 season. and IMO Bmac is an upgrade over El-duque. Is it possible that El-duque can move into the bullpen? And he can spot start when we need him during the rest of the year? Because right now Contreras IMO is finally turning into the pitcher we all thought he could be, Garcia is damn good, Buerhle is Mr. Reliable, Garland broke out of his mediocracy and BMac is the next big thing. So why not put El-duque in the pen. He can be pretty damn effective in there for us. 2006 Starting Rotation: Buerhle Garcia Garland Contreras McCarthy Bullpen: Jenks, Cotts, Pollite, Vizciano, Hermanson, El-duque and a lefty replacement for Marte. Thoughts? But next year is next year- lets do some major post season damage this year baby!!!! A few things: ...then don't create the thread. We don't want to think about next year either. ...yes, it would appear McCarthy is an improvement. He is ready for the show...no sense in holding him back. Really? ...Marte oughta pack his bags now. His ass is as good as gone. FWIW, I think Contreras will be dealt this off-season. A) He has a nasty contract B ) He will net FAR more in value via trade. El Duque offers nothing via trade. Now, just sit back, relax, and enjoy 2005. Please. I'm begging you.

  8. How ironic. This thread is posted the same day I find myself wearing my Sox: Southside Road Kill, Cubs Choke, Cubs Suck shirt.
  9. Bill Melton? :puke :puke Please don't.
  10. QUOTE(SoufSideHitMen @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) yes sir At the very least, please spell the proper "You're" in YOUR current signature.
  11. McCarthy with two outstanding, consecutive efforts. He's been a very nice contributor down the strech here.
  12. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) None other than Coheed & Cambria. I encourage everyone to go here http://www.purevolume.com/coheedandcambria to stream their new song 'Welcome Home'. /plug. Many thanks. That band slays. Get the new Chimaira cd. Those are my guys from Cleveland. They just released their third full-length on Roadrunner. You'll dig it. Um...
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Considering Gloads numbers against Schilling this year in AAA. I would have played him at first, DHd Konerko and put Everett in RF. That would of been a better lineup. Everett at RF in Boston? ...bring your cell phones. EDIT: Sorry, lightspeeder, but I gotta know what band that is. Alexis On Fire? Who? For once, I'm stumped.
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 08:44 AM) In a lot of cases, this is great for the site. Amen. Things have been much nicer as of late.
  15. This thread is priceless. I think WHarris jumped on and off the Illinois bandwagon more times than a causal Cub fan in the midst of a pennant chase. Also, the Maize and Blue will put a serious hurting on the Irish.
  16. QUOTE(winodj @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:41 AM) George Bush nominated John Roberts as Chief Justice this morning. Eliminating the need for a third round of Supreme Court hearings this year. As I predicted. Unreal. Bush appoints two Supreme Court Justices and one as Chief Justice? Ouch.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Ian, the stories in today's papers back up what's been said here by a few people, the Score hires the announcers, the White Sox merely sign off. Rooney was in negotiations with the Score, not the White Sox. If there's anger to be directed, it's at the Score. I suspect they have someone in mind already, and yes, he will probably come cheaper than Rooney. Well, this comes as news to me. I retract my previous statement. I'm sure this is simply the first of many disappointments from our new home for White Sox baseball, 670 the Score.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) How is this the White Sox' fault? Rooney couldn't come to terms with The Score. Well, I suppose I was under the impression that the White Sox organization chose their broadcasters via Brooks Boyer; I always thought that was the norm. If, in fact, this is the Score's fault, I don't think I would be so angry. They are a second-rate outfit. That's not news. They can't afford the best broadcaster in the game. No shock there...Welcome to the Score.
  19. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) Illinois vs Rutgers this morning at 11:00 on ESPN2 I'll be up at 9:30 for college gameday, then over to Memorial Stadium at about 10:30. The Ron Zook era begins Should be a tight game, i think the inexperience and youth of this team will ultimately lead to a Rutgers victory, but we'll see. I just want to see some signs of improvement and some solid football under Zook. It will be interesting to see how Brasic does, considering he's only thrown one pass in college. I never thought I would be as excited for U of I football as I am this morning. The Zook era begins...I can't believe it, I actually bought into it. I'm pumped. ILL-
  20. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) I would venture to guess it was not his choice. He has been with the club 18 years, he's had chances to go to other teams and has remained loyal to the Sox. My guess is that the White Sox didn't want to pony up the cash necessary to keep him around. (Raise your hand if you're not surprised.) God damnit. I am really, really disappointed in the White Sox. Just when things start to look up and the organization has a chance to make a name for itself, they simply let the best broadcaster in sports radio walk? Are you kidding me? This is the kind of s*** that serves as fodder for those like Cubkilla that look for ways to lambast the Sox and their penny-pinching ways. This is inexcusable. Inexcusable.
  21. You know what it is? "You chow up late, you not gonna play dat game. Ok? Willeeey start tomorrow too."
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) This should be interesting. "Woa, Woa Woa...I had NO idea that clause was in there."
