  1. I'm just happy with the W. Now, let's go up to Seattle and beat the Second-Coming tomorrow night.
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Ranch Ranch
  3. Garland is turning out a gem. This dominating starting pitching is really encouraging.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) eh, i dont know if I want one of those guys starting against the rangers either. This could be another Arnie Munoz experience in the making. Who's to say it won't be Munoz again?
  5. QUOTE(shakes @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) I apologize if somebody already posted this. I haven't made it throught the entire thread. Per the Sun-Times MAKING ROOM: The Sox outrighted Class AAA pitcher Matt Smith to Charlotte to reduce the 40-man roster to 39. The move gives the Sox the option of using a player not on the current 40-man roster to start a game in Tuesday's doubleheader at Texas, such as Class AA pitchers Nik Lubisich (8-4, 2.93 ERA) or Heath Phillips (9-5, 3.66). Both are left-handers, and the Rangers are loaded with left-handed hitters. ...and bingo was his name-o. The Rangers pwn McCarthy.
  6. Boy-o-boy, the Sox are in a nice position to pick up another W. ...looking forward to watching a good one. Let's see if Jon can keep up the quality starts.
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) There was some talk in the papers this morning that a lefthander could pitch one of the doubleheader games, two guys were mentioned, Heath Phillips and Dan Haigwood, both in Birmingham. Texas has all those lefthanded hitters, and neither of those two guys are on the 40 man. Have we solved the mystery of the open 40 man roster spot? Dah-Dah-----DAHHHHHHHHHHHH
  8. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) I wonder if the spot was opened up just in case it was needed. Could KW perhaps just be thinking Cincinnati ownership could cave on August 31 and so he wants to have that spot open at a moment's notice in the unlikely event KGJ is acquired? SFF I think you are thinking along the right lines. Let's be honest here, was Matt Smith really going to contribute to the 2005 White Sox? Was he even going to be a Sept. call-up? Doubtful. If an opportunity presents itself, the spot is already open. I don't think this necessarily means something is lined up.
  9. ...being able to watch the game in its entirety.........YES!
  10. ...and this guy was knighted, was he not? Wow.
  11. Well, Buehrle pitched his arse off. Our starting pitching has looked awfully nice as of late.
  12. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) Who? Ranch Tooth!
  13. ...I think we found the place to play you-know-who. Rowand is LOST.
  14. Joey's aggresive tendencies cost us a run. Nice job, though, JD.
  15. Two runs scored via the small-ball. Most excellent. Keep it up. Meanwhile, Sox pitching has looked outstanding this series.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) Just got the game on. Who hit the homer for the Sox? The Crazy one. Wayyyyyyyyyyy back, upper tank.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Probably because noone has any idea who either of them are. If you lived outside of Illinois and weren't a Sox fan would you know who Dave Wills is? I don't think fame had anything to do with it. It was an unbiased poll of MLB radio talents. In the end, I really couldn't care less. White Sox Baseball................NEXT!!!!
  18. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) do you ever listen to Dave Wills doing the D-Ray games on MLB audio? He does a great job. FWIW, the Tampa Bay radio tandum was ranked last amongst MLB radio announcers.
  19. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) LMAO love the avatar RANCH!!!!!
  20. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Yeah it's more than a feeling, the facts back it up that we should win this. More than a feeling, you say?
  21. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) There's no doubt in my mind that one guy is the father of a double digit amount of those kids.
  22. I echo those sentiments. It's hard to believe a lifetime .276 hitter can be dubbed the team's savior, but, there is a lot to be said of his ability to set the table at the top of the order. Right now the Sox find themselves in their biggest slump of the season; their ability or inability to pull out of this tailspin in the forthcoming weeks will tell us what these guys are really made of. For what it's worth, I believe the loss against Ohio State helped the Illini if you know what I mean.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) Trying to make up for being Mrs Mean yesterday. From what I've heard, that sounded like a pretty rough thread.
  24. As I've posted in the other forum, I think Borchard would be a great callup right now. If our Sox have decided to abandon the style of baseball that earned them the best record in baseball--that is, Ozzie-ball, smart-ball, small-ball, etc.--and revert to their long-ball first attitude, why not call Borchard up. At the very least, he'll put the ball in the seats and if our pitchers continue to allow >4 ERs per start, he may provide some much-needed offense. Either Adkins or Anderson can go back down. Take your pick.
