Someone's gotta help me with this quote. Chicago's ESPN radio 1000's Silvy and Carmen show have a hysterical sound-bite they use whenever they caught up in discussing something nerdy. It sounds like it's from an older movie and I'd love to find out which one. It simply goes: "Youuuuuuu are a huge nerd."

I'm posting this one and I don't give a hoot what Mr. Kalapse thinks about it. Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. That's not your run of the mill celebrity crush.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Pardon me for being ignoranmt as hell, but what "existing thread," and what relevance does what u bolded hold? http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=38738 We suck. We suck. We suck. Griffey. Griffey. Griffey. There, now we're all caught up.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) After watching the game yesterday and seeing the first 5 game losing streak of the season, and now heading into a series with the Yanks, I have to say, that for one, I don't think the divivsion will be a problem. But we still have some hard ball to play. But I think we are trying to hard. As Ozzie said, don't panic; they should be enjoying this period of time, and they aren't. Watchign how frustrated they were with themselves yesterday, I think they have to not try so hard. They need to let it flow, and get in a more positive frame of mind. They need to cinch it up and hunker down. So Hopefully this day off will do them some good. Then post in the existing thread, no? Folks, before starting a new thread, let's think about posting elsewhere. If this happens every time this team has a losing streak, Soxtalk will be more repetitive than ever.

The division is in hand. Simple as that. Yeah, yeah, go back in history and find some teams that blew 10+ game leads down the strech, but this team is not built to crumble after posting the best record in baseball for nearly the entire season. Say what you will about the guy, but, I just don't think Ozzie will allow that to happen.

"Nooooooooooo, Addy, you're crazy. It can't be dead-arm." Puh-leeze. :rolly

PK: "We're going to go down swinging with the guys we have." You sure are, Mr. Konerko. You sure are.

QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) The ESPeN folks are hollering for Mariano Rivera. :rolly I agree with them.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) I don't think video games, music or church really had an effect on him either -- I was just hoping for some moral continuity from the talking heads that do spew that kind of stuff. You are really wise beyond your years, my man. Moral continuity + America = Non-existant.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 07:46 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/08/18/btk.killings/index.html Rader cannot face the death penalty because Kansas did not reinstate the death penalty until 1994, three years after his last killing.

He was the #1 guy I wanted a few weeks ago. Now, I'm starting to think the #1 need is an offensive weapon of any sort.

Be down there bright and early Saturday morning. We'll be easy to find, though. Just look for the stacks of PBR cases at 3 in the afternoon. Catch ya'll down there.

Happy B-day Brother Nuke!!!!! Round of PBR's on the house! HAVE A GREAT ONE! NUKE_CLEVELAND: Truly, a man that lives a Caps Lock lifestyle.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) TY TY ...a term of endearment, of course. Plus: we'll raise scurvy-awareness tenfold; it's perfect.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) I must be doing something wrong. I'm completely nicknameless, can someone please give me one? Limey So shall it be written, so shall it be done. From this point forward, you will be known as: Limey.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) OMG, as in...."Gee, it'd be nice to have Young"? Where does he get this stuff? I don't know if it's simply conjecture or not, but, he's been mentioning his name as one that clear waivers and a potential target for Mr. Willams. Levine maintains Kenny will add another bat within the next 2 weeks.
-
Bruce Levine keeps mentioning Dimitri Young.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Casey Kotchman >>> anything we have in our minor leagues. It'd take a s*** load to get him. Bingo. Actually, when those rumors surfaced, I was VERY suprised the Royals didn't pursue it further. Both would benefit in a MAJOR, MAJOR way. Sweeny is off to play on a contending teams in the playoffs. The Royals have the 1B of the future. Yet, no deal. Figure that one out. Sweeny ain't going anywhere.
-
Also, you might have to top the Angels offer of Kotchman. I don't know if Kenny is even interested in Sweeny, but, you certainly can't afford to get in a bidding war over him. Nothing doing.
-
Freddy has to be the stopper. Just get it done.

Your buddy was listening to the Dan Patrick show.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) So what you're saying is that Paul Spoljaric was a good major league pitcher? I'd call him a servicable reliever at best. I'ts called 0wnag3 get to know it. What. A. Reference. ...know what, I'll just tip my cap on that one. I don't even want to know how you found that out...in two minutes' time no less.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) I'm really looking forward to seeing him play. ...plus, the dude's middle name is Nikola. Go back in history and find a disappointing major-leaguer with the middle name, Nikola...not even one.
