Yanks, Tigers, Dbacks Agree to Trade
I think this deal ends up being better for the DBacks than expected. If anything, this has to take the Yanks out of the Doc sweepstakes as one of the main parts that was asked for was AJax.

Peter Gammons Leaving ESPN?
Tim Dierkes also posts at the mlbtraderumors forums. I heard the same about Peter from my brother(huge Red Sox fan) who has a decent Red Sox source.

Yanks, Tigers, Dbacks Agree to Trade
Only thing I could think is that Arizona is trying to win now. Haren, Webb, Jackson gives them a dominant 1-2-3. With that said, good luck. Schlereth and Scherzer were too much to give up for Jackson and Ian Kennedy. I would've traded them straight up for Granderson and Jackson.

QUOTE (Ron @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) If we get a solid draft pick, who would you want to see the Bulls take? I'd really like Iowa State's Craig Brackins or Georgetown's Greg Monroe. Both are players with height, size and have offensive post games, things we desperately need. Brackins (6'10, 230) is a pro 4, versatile offensive game, can go inside/out. Monroe (6'11, 250) could possibly be a pro pivot, putting up some good numbers for the Hoyas (13.8ppg, 10rpg, 1.3bpg). No doubt, the answer is Evan Turner. Even after breaking his shiet.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) Not really. Actually, not at all. Lebron is a better player than Kobe now. Has been for about 3 years. But I will concede there's nobody more dangerous in those type of situations than Kobe. Statistically, you're correct. The thing is though, Kobe finally got help, is happy to deter, and it helps him championship wise, but in the argument of who's best, it hurts him. I've seen Kobe and he can turn it on whenever he wants. Heck, he almost took a garbage squad with Smush friggin Parker as the starting PG to the second round in the west. That in itself is impressive.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) Benn's going to go pro. He's already #3 on McShay's WR rankings, and with the rookie salary cap coming in 2011, I just can't see many players returning next year that are draft eligible. Me as well, especially with Benn considering he's on a squad that doesn't come close to utilizing him.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) Ron Guenther is such a dumbass, I can't think of a single reason that Zook should be kept as the head coach of Illinois. This staff has underachieved an unbelievable amount the last couple of years with the talent they brought in. I saw this posted on another board that only 24 schools brought in top 35 classes in 06, 07, and 08 and 22 of those schools are going to ball games this year. The only ones that aren't are Michigan and Illinois and Michigan at least has the excuse of attrition due to a new coaching staff as well as players that were recruited for a different scheme. Not to mention, the longer you retain Zook the worse the program is set up for future success unless he pulls a miracle next year and somehow wins big and gets some stability with his job and is able to get recruiting back on track. It just seems like this is the perfect time to dump him and bring in a coach that knows what the hell they are doing. It could be somewhat similar to Florida bringing in Meyer after Zook (I'm not saying we will championships but more or less that the new coach will actually get the most out of the talent Zook leaves which for Illinois likely means 8-4 type seasons). But instead, the 2010 recruiting class is falling apart, and by bringing him back basically for one more year you are going to make recruiting in 2011 extremely difficult as well so the talent will fall off for the future. Therefore the next coach will have to rebuild from scratch and you will be right back to where we were when Zook took over. I'd give Zook one more year. I think what was worse is the offensive coordinator was terrible, and their defense overall(players mostly), were terrible. The Illini do have talent, but they didn't come close to utlizing it. Some of it falls on Zook, no doubt, but there's others who deserve just as much blame, if not more.

Report: Selig to step down in 2012
Mlb.tv blackout rules are pretty dumb. I don't mind the All-Star game and I love interleague play. I just wish we played more different teams. It seems like we play the same ole squads every year. I'm sure Selig thought he was doing good initially be revamping interest in baseball after the strike which he did do. But the steroids thing was going to come out, especially with everyone doing them. Him not stopping the widespread use, dead in it's tracks has done more harm than good.

Pedroia wants to move to SS. Red Sox might ask him as they think it'll be easier to get a 2b. Translation to me is that they'll either trade for Brandon Phillips or sign Orlando Hudson. http://www.realgmbaseball.com/src_wiretap_...a_to_shortstop/

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) So is part of VDN's offense built around having D Rose jog through the lane and stand in the corner? Because thats what I see a majority of the time. It's not. I've actually commented on it before. But Derrick has been the master of that play since high school. In fact, he created it.

Urlacher officially not a fan of Cutler and Bears offense. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/11/ur...way_our_id.html I think Brian needs to shut his trap. The reason why the Bears have only one Super Bowl is because of the old identity. Well eventually, you meet a team that you won't run down or wear down enough and actual talent and coaching takes over. Bears haven't had that in awhile. Bears need Mike Martz on offense, and just overall, better players.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 29, 2009 -> 03:30 AM) I think they need to go the other way. Everyone gets the same odds, no tanking, no good players wasted on s*** teams. Was San Antonio getting Duncan a bad thing? Are bad teams like the Clippers, Grizzlys, nets, etc better off getting high picks and then toiling at SA getting Duncan was a very bad thing actually. The NBA had some of its worst ratings with SA in the Finals. Even that thriller against Detroit had awful ratings. If he would've ended up in a major market like he was supposed to, the NBA would've made a lot more money and had a lot better ratings.

Benn might end up staying in college from what I'm hearing in hopes of having a QB and an OC who want to get him the ball instead of run the ball on every down. Their offensive coordinator wasted the talent on offense by wanting to run the ball more. He was better off going 5 wide because the Illini had stud WR's/TE's. Honestly, they could've started the game with a RB in the backfield, have Fayson, Benn, Cumberland and Ford out wide. Instead, like Fiedorowicz stated, they chose not to utilize even half of their talent. Michael Oher's story was a great one. I loved the movie. It's hard not to feel sorry for him. I'm glad a family out there supported him when his only family wouldn't. I wonder what happened to his brothers and stuff like that.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) You do bring up an excellent point about how he had crap in Detroit and San Fran at the QB position. But my next question is how good is Martz at developing the talent, etc. Or is he just a good, agressive play-caller that sometimes goes a bit rogue/crazy. I don't see him as a developer. I believe he is the type of guy who needs to have a guy with the right skills to make his system work, and if he does have the right guy, that player will look like a superstar.

Gaga definitely looks better with brunette hair. She dyed it though when a reporter mistook her for Amy Winehouse. Regardless, she's a very talented musician. She sucks you in with the weirdness and dance/pop songs, but she's great musically. She's pretty sound at a couple of instruments and is excellent at the piano. Her voice, when she uses it is awesome. Her live shows display her talent quite nicely.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) Martz is not the answer. Cutler isn't a Martz QB and the Bears need to be careful. Whomever they bring in should be an offensive mind that can work the X's and O'x and help Cutler get better. If the Bears wanted to be ballsy, I'd go after Jim Harbaugh the Standford caoch. But again, college coachs rarely pan out. And if I went with Harbaugh, I'd want the club to hire veteran assistants which would be expensive. So it wouldn't happen, although I believe Jim would be a very good coach for Cutler. Hiring Martz for a yr isn't an option. We don't want him as our head coach, he's failed everywhere else he's been as a head coach and as an OC he hasn't had the same magic he had in St. Louis. Bad decision. We bring in Martz and Cutler will be on his 4th coordinator in 4 years (Shanny's system last year, Turner's this year, Martz next year, and our new coaches the following year). How is Martz not a fit for Cutler? Cutler is a gunner. Martz's offense is all about gunning and taking shots down the field. I'd say it make a lot of sense. And who says it'll only be for a year? I'd also hardly count Turner's offense. There's only about 6 plays in there since most of our players are not smart enuogh to learn anything more complex.

Who becomes our long term SS then? If we still had Getz, then I guess you could say move Bacon to SS and hope he improves, but you end up opening a very big hole which would be super expensive. Sox actually have an advantage to have such a cheap, good option at short.

Nope, not when having to pay Charlie 18 more million. Florida has more than enough money to keep Urban happy and then some. They're not a Cincinnatti.

Barry Bonds
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 26, 2009 -> 11:46 AM) Bonds hasn't played baseball in a year... It might take him a while to get back in the swing of things. Plus, he's 45. If he doesn't perform well to start the year (which I guess he wouldn't), the fans will start to b**** and the media will go crazy. Plus, this puts a lot of national attention (pressure) on the White Sox. Not sure if you really want that. As good as this looks on paper, there are numerous other problems with it that will screw it up. It puts alot of attention on the White Sox. That's a good thing. Honestly though, it won't happen in the end.
