ChWRoCk2 replied to EvilJester99's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Jeff kent. right forgot about that -
QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) They're going to hold on to Sheets unless they get completely overwhelmed in a trade. yeah they have a nice young team and there really is no reason to trade him unless they are overwhelmed

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Is it just me or does this entire post make absolutely no sense? Chi-Guy2, did you want to be embraced by rangercal? Don't you think that the reason we don't like Favre and we are rejoicing his retirement is because he is better than any Bears QB and has consistently killed the Bears? No one is denying how good the man is. i dont know, kind of dont think before i type, but im guessing no, and it sounds like you all hate favre

QUOTE(rangercal @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) It is hard for me to embrace any packer fan. :fyou u take that back, im probably the biggest packers fan on this whole entire board another thing, what with all the people who dont like favre, hes better than any bears QB and he will be greater than any bears QB

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Am I the only one that thinks this isn't a bad move? Someone had to replace the strikeout production of Sammy Sosa and I believe the Cubs found their man. its a horrible move, burnitz strikes out even more

ESPN's Rob Neyer's Top Ten LEAST improved teams
ChWRoCk2 replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Let me remind you of some transactions that happened not too long ago... Griffey>Cameron/Ichiro A-Rod>Boone Johnson>Garcia Take into account Griffey was at the top of game at the time and Ichiro was unproven. I am not saying that the White Sox are going to strike lighting in the bottle like Seattle, but it proves that speculating individual players greatness against each other doesn't prove anything. Playing as a team does... I am surprised Neyer hasn't learned this... Cant argue with that -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) You need a dose of reality if you think Hendry is going to open the season with that outfield. Once the Sosa trade is done, Hendry will start his own flurry of activity. Book it. all of the outfielders left to get are not to good and Maggs will most likely be a tiger, Burnitz isn't a consistent hitter at all and hes really old, don't know why the cubs would want him nor do i care

1998 Bulls vs. 04-05 Bulls (of course not the stats for the whole year) Thought I'd compare the champs to the Bulls of the present, just to see how we match up (didn't match players all by position, for ex: pippen and kirk): PPG RPG APG BPG FG% Michael Jordan 28.7 5.8 3.5 .55 .465 vs. Ben Gordon 13.1 2.3 1.8 .05 .431 (Jordan is better but he did help tutor Gordon) Scottie Pippen 19.1 5.2 5.8 .98 .447 vs. Kirk Hinrich 16.2 4.1 7.1 .30 .403 Toni Kukoc 13.3 4.4 4.2 .50 .455 vs. Loul Deng 12.5 5.6 2.4 .50 .427 Luc Longley 11.4 5.9 2.8 1.07 .455 vs. Eddy Curry 15.8 5.8 .8 .95 .537 Dennis Rodman 4.7 15.0 2.9 .23 .431 vs. Tyson Chandler 8.0 9.2 .9 1.85 .491 TEAM PPG RBG APG BPG FG% FT% 3P% OPPG 1998 Bulls 96.7 44.9 23.8 4.30 .451 .743 .323 89.6 04-05 Bulls 91.9 43.3 22.1 4.93 .434 .747 .340 91.4 Keep in mind that at the beginning of the season we struggled and allowed more points and our numbers were low. These are just stats but looking at this we could be in for one hell of a ride. What do you think?

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Maybe it is just me, but I would like more than 6 people on the team who can speak fluent english. :headshake does it really matter? I know your gonna say yes and I see where your going, but some of the better players in the league don't all speak fluent english Ichiro (don't believe hes fluent) Hideki and more......that i didn't intend to name

QUOTE(Purdue129 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Purdue Basketball will climb back up there once the Matt Painter era starts Go Purdue, they have a young team too which will help

QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) On the Jerry Hairston thing, that is another listing that never seems to get taken care of, and pops up here every so often. Jerry Hairston is the manager of one of our farm teams, pretty sure it's Bristol. He may be getting some deferred payments after all these years, but I doubt it. Who knows why he's listed. that would have been pretty awesome if it was the other jerry hairston (orioles)

QUOTE(backman @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) i like the way eC's playing right now and we seem to do really well when eddy scores early, i wouldnt mind seeing gordon break this cold streak he's riding. EC's been amazing, and Gordon needs to get out of that cold streak

it doesn't matter what school you come out of to play in the NFL, some of the best players came out of the small unknown schools (brett favre, daunte culpepper)
