QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 12:45 AM) Since when do big time NBA players go to s***ty teams just for money? KD went to what is now for sure the best NBA team not the Kings or Nuggets to get a huge pay day. We wouldn't really know since teams aren't allowed to actually offer much variety in terms of money offers

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) Is the Bulls interest in Dwayne Wade due to them thinking they can leverage Wade and Butler to land Westbrook or a real star? Or do they think he is a longer term piece? I have to presume it is for his recruiting pitching (and of course the fact that he's a solid player) but not the guy I want tying up cap space on unless we could get a real impact signing (Westbrook or some "star" equivalent). It's that they legitimately think he can help them win a championship because they are idiots.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 05:53 PM) They cared bout Bernie til the FBI chief killed that today. ... As far as the rest, I look at the big picture. Not to pile on my favorite Sox fan, Barack, but as far as unifying ... during his years we have Ferguson, we have Baltimore, we have near ruination of a great university, Mizzou. Thank goodness this protest bulls*** hasn't even been worse in terms of violence in the biggest cities. Some people think one of these cop out of control incidents vs African American victims is going to result in the big one -- riots in the biggest cities. A lot of you don't even seem too concerned about Chicago murder numbers ... even these have taken place during Barack's years. So many people in Chicago have no reason to behave. Low low paying jobs leaving the hooligans to say, "f*** it, I'm selling drugs and arming myself." And also the big picture suggests horrific economy nationwide and like I said unparalleled mass murder situations. Not blaming Barack for everything, like you said Congress has been disgracefully uncooperative as well, but it's all in Barack's eight years. Personally I think a President needs to work on getting Congress to cooperate and make that a priority, figure some s*** out, be such a leader the other side will want to work with you (nyuk nyuk I realize that's long gone in American politics never likely to return; wait til these Congressians show a desire to "work" with Hillary; we ain't seen nothing yet in terms of uncooperation). What the hell has Barack done in the BIG PICTURE that's been good. Only thing I can think of is be a good example for family values. He's a good dad and husband while having a stressful job. I repeat: The American dream has continued to die under his watch (middle class not making any $$$) and the streets are not safe so to speak. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/201...ish-europe-asia

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 04:54 PM) I'm honored to have 3 rivalries, lol. We need to bring back Marty34, TheUltimateChampion and LDF. I'd add "GreenSox/Heroes and Anti-Heroes" rivalry with many. Greg vs. Las Vegas Back in the good 'ol days, Ncorgbl/Sat46 vs. Everyone at chisox.com For my money, Disappearing Balta vs. the Collective Conscience of the Remaining, More Pro Sox moderating team...because it encapsulates the fight for A CLEAR direction to be set by Sox organization in and for the future. LIP vs. Younger Generation who don't have as much respect for "traditional" journalism Greg vs. Hillary Clinton (pretty sure he's losing that one) Hickory Huskers vs. Rock (sad misunderstanding, and a good example why taking any of this online stuff TOO seriously is probably bad for your health) Thad Bosley vs. 35 Years of Sox history under Reinsdorf/Einhorn Fathom vs. the Cubs Thread took obvious turn.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) Or Kalapse vs. Idiots This is correct. I would throw out names but I've thought about it for 15 minutes and I literally can't remember any of these older poster names. It's like as soon as you stop posting you just cease to exist. WCSox used to have it out for me. Board vs. Rongey was fun.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) This is a joke. And I feel like they're gonna bust and it will be hysterical. I kinda do too. I kinda feel like teams in the finals will go so hard at them, and so many will be rooting against them, that they all look around waiting for someone else to take the ball.

The Olympics: Should they be Postponed?
My prediction: It will not be that bad once games start, some references (as there were in Sochi), but not the forefront of the games Brazil will pull together just enough for it to be competent and everyone that goes there will say it was not that bad. Rio, for all of its faults, is a great city that is hard not to love.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) I really hate that last argument. "Lots of people break the law. Let's just not charge anyone otherwise our courts will be full of cases!" I get that but when you have a law that would punish a large amount of people basically doing their job and are not trying to do anything criminal it seems like that law needs to be re-written or incentives rearranged.

It's not the cap in general it's the player salary cap. Basically every team could have offered Durant the same amount of money except for OKC. The owners thought the extra year and money would be a big advantage, but players are seeing an exploding cap and realizing that cashing in is way better. IF you take money out of the consideration, you have left best fit and winning. He chose the obvious choice for winning. I don't see why to lower the cap in general, I don't really feel like it's that important to further enrich a small amount of billionaire owners.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) It's rather funny that as he tried this version of declaring a pattern as at the same time I was just reading an article that called the media's tendency to treat things that would be minor for other politicians as huge major incidents if they involve the Clintons as "the Clinton Rules". Although I was thinking in the shower how plagiarism took down Biden's presidential campaign in 88. I'm trying to think where that would rank right now or if it would even be covered.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) I would imagine a future President Clinton could put in place administrative rules strictly forbidding anyone from doing what she did while also directing the various agencies to accommodate high-level people with specific requirements. I think the NSA custom-built Obama a Blackberry that could handle multiple emails, Clinton wanted the same and was told no, so she went off and did her dumb server thing. Is it better to be executive action to allow flexibility? Congress is just so inept right now that it's scary how much has to go to the executive to function.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) Wade had by far his best postseason since '12. That said, I don't think he's what Cleveland needs. Cleveland, especially now with Durant selling out, needs more length, athleticism and defensive versatility. Right, he's not bad but he shot 15% from 3pt, On cle, a good 3pt % shooter at the 2 is scarier. There are marginal returns on 3 guys who drive primarily.

The administrative agencies clearly want a stop to this precedence of SoS and others picking and choosing around their equipment and server security (both the SoS report and FBI now came harshly as seen in that language, even though no criminal activity happened), typically this is where a functioning legislature could act.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) It's not just that its broad and opaque...it's intent. When you have 2 million people with security clearances, you are going to have a lot of accidental leaks of classified material. When Petraeus gives classified material to his mistress they draw a line there because he's doing that on purpose, but when the system is this big you can't charge everyone who accidentally mishandles something because you'll put half a million people in jail. Right, but you throw intent out the window there. "I didn't know it was classified" is incredibly plausible and accurate. How are we enforcing anything at that point?

Wade is just using leverage, he's very good at it. Dirk signing for 20 mill just set his rate, maybe a bit higher. Beside...wade isn't that good anymore so I don't know why that would be game over for the league if cavs get him.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) What would also be worth asking out of this case would be questions like..."why is it we're spending $20 billion a year to record every phone call and email message on the planet but we can't afford to keep computer systems at major federal agencies up to date enough for a cabinet level official to be able to use a cell phone to send email". But again, that would require Congress doing something other than trying to campaign. "Are our classification processes too broad and opaque to ever actually prosecute anything except the most brazen examples?"

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 11:31 AM) The other problem is Rondo is good enough to keep the Bulls in double figures range with their draft pick. You either have to be awesome or be terrible. The Bulls chose neither. Right. The Bulls will be better than Jose Calderon in all the wrong ways. Wouldn't it be better to know how a team with Jimmy as it's star plays before putting a ball dominant guard who can't shoot next to him (again)?

If this year is a complete throwaway, like you seem to think, it's important we put our young players and coach in a position to grow together. You couldn't have picked a worse player than that, aside from possibly seeing what Andrew Bynum is doing. The point of all of those players above is they are either young, placeholders, or better contracts. I would take Etwuan back 10 times out of 10. Deshaun should have been Shaun Livingston, was always word vomit with that. I wanted to see progression under Hoiberg's system. I wanted to see the team run by Jimmy Butler. We won't see that. We will see Dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble(avoid driving for open layup), pass, shoot, clank.
