    Home remodel

Got a new dishwasher. I still think that while they are slicker and less broken, the one thing nice about the locking dishwashers was knowing what was clean/dirty.
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) Are you guys really going to turn this thread into a liberal/neocon pissing contest? Really? Oh boo hoo. It was funny.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) I just came across this. Honestly it is a perfect statement of where we have gotten to as a country. http://graphics.wsj.com/blue-feed-red-feed...dallas-shooting When I just did that, the liberal feed was a bunch of news reports on who the shooter was, articles about how the Dallas PD is a model police force and about the man that police sent out initially (and incorrectly). The conservative one is a bunch of breitbart articles about how Obama is terrible. Yes, that is a pretty accurate statement of where we are.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) I think its pretty obvious from whats going on right now. It may not have surfaced everywhere but its simmering in a lot of places and can come to a head anywhere at any time just like last night. Not trying to be dramatic but that is the truth of what is going on right now. Its pretty historic. Last night was awful, but compared to the 90s, much less the 60s, things have been peaceful and riots contained.
  6. God I'm crying. Let's all do the best we can. Let us be the ones that try.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) I don't think they get full Bird rights on Durant - player has to be there for 3 years. But they could sign durant and then re-sign everyone, right?
  8. Man first tweets you retweeted I had thought he blew out his knee
  9. I would rather watch a worn down Wade than Rose but I'm not sure we didn't just make a lot of movement to basically be in the same position we would be next year anyway. At the very least Robin Lopez is not the 2nd best player on the team which would have been unbearable.
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) I think the Bulls considered a full tear it down rebuild. This would have required trading Jimmy Butler. It didn't seem like they were getting enough in return for Jimmy to deal him. With this being the case, they would have been picking in the late lottery anyway. They would still be trying to sign free agents the next 2 off seasons and nobody would be coming to a bad team with nothing to look forward to. Wade and Rondo are stopgaps but I'm not willing to say that it doesn't get them closer to a title. A free agent or two is much more likely to come to the Bulls with Wade in tow and it sounds like Butler has been recruiting his ass off. Wade coming does more to the Bulls image in a positive way than it helps on the court. So yes, being the 6th seed in the East, with Wade/Rondo/Butler definitely puts them in a better position to sign a max player than going with just Butler and picking 11th in the draft does. They just weren't willing to tear it down completely because they would not have been bad enough next year to make it worthwhile. And they like playoff revenue. None of the hypothetical offers for Jimmy were that good (from draft). It was a bad draft to trade him, and next year those players were probably too good and teams wouldn't trade out. I'm skeptical that Wade helps with anything, or that this team will be a 4th seed. THey have high, high risk of explosion due to injury and strange cohesion. But the whole Wade coming back thing. I worry this is just a retirement tour and he won't be putting in the work to get these guys playing. He may end up as a circus signing. It wasn't long ago that the Lakers with Dwight and Nash were way worse than anyone imagine they could be. This team could have similar fit/age issues.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) s***, can you imagine the chicago PD going through sweeping changes like that? No chance. Chicago citizens need to do everything possible to make sure the citizen review board changes happen. It's on us.
  12. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 02:57 PM) Or, again, you lack facts and are assuming a lot based on one tweet that wasn't even sourced directly to Gar or Pax. It doesn't have to come from them? If it came from them it would be more ridiculous. "we were waiting for the planes to come to us"..."We wanted a younger, more athletic plane, ended up acquiring the plane used in the movie Major League that chartered the Indians. Unfortunately injuries plagued it but we are staying the course".
  13. I feel like if we were actually able to study police violence we'd end up with a lot of quick wins around scheduling and process that could dramatically reduce things without even tackling the more difficult training out prejudice issues. But, good luck with that. We'll get more blue lives matter laws.
  14. That's my last post on the subject. PR better. Plane better. Go wade.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) bmags' meltdown over the delayed flight is my favorite part of the NBA offseason so far I'm not freaking out about it, I was dying laughing at it only to be told its not funny and it's a completely normal excuse we hear all the time in sports free agency. It was a horrible excuse because they have terrible PR. They pride themselves on not commenting but let the stupidest stuff linger until you have to just assume they are terrible at their jobs. And this from one of the most profitable teams in the league. Hire Edelman for PR for god sake.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Vinnie Goodwill at CSN is the coolest Bulls beat guy. When they asked him about the Bulls plane being pushed back, he just laughed, but he acknowledged beforehand that if the Bulls and Miami had similar offers to Wade, he would take the Bulls offer because he will have felt disrespected by Miami. Looking at it from his angle, he obviously always wanted to play for the Bulls. He knows unless he joins Lebron or goes to GS on a minimum, he isn't winning anything no matter where he goes, so now is the time to get paid to play out the string. I don't know how much he has left. I would guess not a lot or someone would give him 3 years. The whole he will attract a max guy or two seems farfetched to me (of course I thought he becoming a Bull was farfetched). First off, why would Rondo recruit someone who is supposed to recruit someone to take Rondo's place? And if you want to play with DWade, you get to play with him when he's 36 and on the last year of his deal and the last leg of his career. Doesn't make much sense. They are going to be too good to be a bottom 3 or 4 team, so I hope they at least make the playoffs. I don't understand, why would he laugh? It's the real world.
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) Here is one place I'll agree with you on, because in the interest of being fair, Sanders did not fully support Clinton's health reform efforts in the 1990's. He's always been very adamant about single payer. Clinton is clearly the more flexible politician...does that make her a better politician given our system? Perhaps...but is it what we really want...again? Also, keep in mind Sanders was just a jr. senator back then...he wasn't a very important person -- and I guess it could be argued he's still not. My issue with Hillary is clear...it's more of the same. It's the same government we had with Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, etc...it's the safe choice...it's the wall street choice...but I thought we wanted change in this country? Or, is it really that we want to talk about change...but don't actually want it? I don't understand your last point because I view Bush and obama as radically different in the context of politics. But both preferable to trump who is radically different in a sense out of politics. I've never seen anyone who hates america and americans more than him.
  18. I don't think it has anything to do with education, tbh.
  19. Sure. My point is this. Sanders has some nice ideas but made a lot of hay about being generally around powerful people as he was off in vermont playing hackysack with burlington coffee owners. He acts like being at the march on washington makes him MLK, and he acts like standing behind hillary clinton on stage makes him the architect. Healthcare reform was very important to me in 2008 as it was finally attainable and I was all about reading about why hillarycare failed only to find Obama make the same mistakes. But in all that reading I never once came across Sanders name as some great advocate or important role player int he legislation. So while it may be a lie, in that sanders one time stood behind her, it's the truest lie I've ever heard. Sanders was much more relevant in 2008 pushing for single payer.
  20. I don't know what you think you are refuting with that? That sanders was the real architect of the early 90s legislation known as hillarycare? Is that your point?
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) You know what's really f***ed? When Hillary called out Sanders on "not being there for health care reform in the 90's" when he was like literally standing right behind her...I think she even thanked him in the damn video that was circulating...and her supporters still all pretend she's legit. What a complete s***bag. We all need to stop defending s*** politicians that don't care about us. And yes, I put both Trump and Hillary in that group, amongst many many others. I'm not even a fan of Sanders socialist leanings, but I'd be willing to bet anything he cares more than either of them. Even I would sooner see him as president than what we're going to get. There were many major players for health care reform in the 90s and Sanders was not one. I'm sure she stood in front of a lot of people as a first lady. So just to be clear, Hillary actually tries to get health care reform done 20 years prior, leads the effort, but she doesn't care, but Sanders goes and fights civil rights in the heart of Vermont but he cares so much more. Got it. Wellp, she may not give me the feels that Sanders can, but she does know legislation and can put together ideas to help a lot of people.
