  1. Really incredible to still be watching Colon in 2016. He's like Vizquel or Franco now, just feel like he's hit his floor and it's good enough to be around forever.
  2. I hate 3-man booths. And ESPN baseball broadcasts.
  3. Pitino was terrible. Dr jack Ramsay and Dick motta both more accomplished than Stevens to this point.
  4. Yeah papa johns has a problem with too much liquid on their pizzas, fall apart easy. I'll eat any cheap pizza though. Digiornos was the worst though. s*** either tastes burnt or like yeast.
  5. Maybe, but we are finally rooting out the liars that were on Horace Grant's side 20 years ago. Finally, justice is served and it is SWEET.

    Having a baby

    Thanks all! Really appreciate it.
  7. JR's statement is exactly what should have happened on Tuesday.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) I think you misunderstood what I was writing. To me, this is a bit of evidence that there was a lot more going on here, and this issue is merely symptomatic of that. a. An out of control clubhouse where players will say and do as they please, instead of what is best for the organization b. A dysfunctional management structure/culture c. Organizational policies and protocols which are either not clear or not enforced d. A lack of trust and respect for other employees, particularly leadership While I am certainly not claiming Kenny is innocent, this strikes me as a complete organizational failure, where the owner, the president, the general manager, the manager, and the players are all complicit. If you want to fire someone just to say you did something, fair enough. But if you truly wanted to fix the root cause, I think you're probably missing the mark by simply firing the President. I agree with that. I also think Kenny likes instability in roles because he likes to jump into things and exploit his power that way. Firing president will not solve all of that, but theoretically a pres of operations role that is good should be able to clear that up.
  9. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) Facts: 1. The Sox have made the playoffs once in 10 years, and got trounced in their only appearance. 2. The face of the franchise addressed the media and said the team president flat out lied to them, and wouldn't answer the question of "What do the players think of Kenny Willaims?" Even if you are a Willaims fan, what positive influence does Kenny Willaims bring to the White Sox? I don't understand how he keeps his job. Agreed. I honestly don't have a problem with KW telling LaRoche not to bring his kid, and think Laroche is playing martyr. But KW has to own every thing that came after this. He had a largely sympathetic media and fan group, and somehow this all imploded on him.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) A few things: 1) So you are reading this fiasco as really just being the result of the LaRoche situation? 2) You are taking what you are hearing at the moment at face value, when the truth seems to change on an hourly basis? We have very little idea what actually happened with this, from start to finish. We may be better served to find out before we start calling for the firing of the President. 1) Yes. There is zero doubt that the catalyst was LaRoche. If your clubhouse personalities are so unstable that small interferences cause huge eruptions like this, it should have been in his calculations before acting. More, it should have been dealt with by the entire organization. 2) That the truth has been changing by the hour for 3 days on a workplace environment issue where nobody was assaulted or killed is an example of gigantic incompetence. KW has already shown ineptitude at communicating clearly, for example last July when he threw Hahn under the bus. The catalyst of this, KW and Laroche in a disagreement that has Laroche quit, crap happens. Isolated from everything, I'm on KW's side. But everything that happens after that is what gets KW fired. He has shown no ability to control the message, his employees, or a friendly media (to this point). That's not a good look, especially 2 weeks before your fans are going to naturally get excited to play baseball. I would either fire Kenny or announce organizational restructuring that handles situations like this in the future. Status quo is not acceptable. An ACTUAL issue that requires talent to control will occur soon, and they are clearly not ready.
  11. Honestly disgusted by all of this. I have no tolerance for poor organizational discipline and communication. Going to be hard to show up opening weekend cheering for this group.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:14 PM) I'm unclear as to why this is all KWs fault...Hahn? JR? Robin? I mean I don't think it is Kenny's role to manage everything you are suggesting it is. I'm not sure what you mean by "everything" but he decided to take on a task of managing a sensitive issue in the locker room, and did it so ineffectively that it has been national news for 3 days and has his ace pitcher openly talking s*** in the media. That's less than inspiring from a President of the company. And what's worse, since this was handled so high up, the only escalation point is the owner.
  13. Also, Sale should be suspended and fined.
  14. Probably best to just fire KW at this point. He's the president and is showing no ability to handle the team. This will die down eventually, and go back to normal. But if he's this bad at dealing with this stuff... Do you guys have any confidence in KW dealing with a domestic violence incident or something like that?
  15. So LaRoche claims son couldn't come at all. Interesting.
  16. If KW did lie about Rollins/Avila going to him, then he does need to be fired. But, I doubt he did. Chris needs to stop being a child.
  17. This reminds me of that Gawker situation a few months ago, where a reporter published a completely terrible story, and the head of gawker media forced it to be taken down, to which the reporters editors all went nuts. To the outside world, they were all being completely stupid, but they were all adamant "no, they are terrible why can't you all see! Why can't you see?!?!"
  18. The more I digest this, another thing that annoys me: -The "players should regulate their own clubhouse" trope. I think this is generally true, but this is a case where it clearly favors LaRoche. Tell a guy to knock off loud music, behavior, bringing girlfriend, they probably can regulate that. But telling a guy to stop bringing his kid around, that everyone seems to like, when you are new? That seems tailor made for a situation where you bring it to another party to deal with, one that won't make it a personal issue but an organization decision.
  19. I like motorcycles, but they are dangerous riding correctly (with how often cars miss you), I can't believe the risky behavior people do on them.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) Not really. They are sophisticated parties that were both represented by attorneys if it was a condition to his employment, it should have been in writing. If it really was agreed to by all, why was it not in writing? I cant imagine that a multi-million dollar agreement does not have a merger/integration clause. And if it does, then the entire point of having the written agreement is so that neither party can come back later and say that there were other terms to the agreement. I dont know the facts, I havent seen the contract, but I would rather be on the Sox side then Laroche's (from a legal standpoint). If the Sox materially breached his contract, why would he not sue for breach instead of retire? The fact he retired seems to suggest that he had no legal ground to stand on. Right, and even if there was a verbal agreement, really would like to know whether it was verbally agreed that kid could be there 100% of time as was performed.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) That is the story I read. The Jays wanted to talk to him, and Jerry wouldn't let him. Kenny had a meltdown and threatened to quit. I heard on some program last year (inside the clubhouse?) that Jerry's main objection was how it went about, something about how Toronto's owner is friends with Jerry, and he didn't like how he approached Kenny first without talking to JR.
  22. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Just saw that the mlbpa will most likely file a grievance against the sox bc having his son with him was a condition for him to sign with the sox. Good, can't wait for the judge to way in on this crap.
  23. Right, it would basically be up to Garland to say "I'm going to withdraw consideration to allow next pres to choose their pick." But why would you do that? Being Supreme Court Justice is probably awesome as hell.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) They did tell KW to talk to him about dialing back, and he refused to listen so KW brought it up again and he quit. KW did nothing bad here, he's just being the bad guy to keep others out of the spotlight. The story is so dumb. Fathom - where did you see that Hahn/RV asked KW to talk to laroche?
