    QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) money..... He's on a minor league deal

I can't believe Penny is willing to keep playing ball in the minors. Amazing how much these guys love playing pro ball.
  3. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) I'm unhappy we didn't sell. Me too, up until the deadline I was hoping we'd sell Smarj. Also, if we had gotten a longer term piece I wouldn't have minded. Once I saw the Leake trade I really wanted to have sold him.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) I'm struggling to get up my excitement levels for the Bears this year, I have no faith in them to be anything but bad. There are things to root for this year that were not there last year. I can handle and enjoy even losses if they are for a purpose.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) It shouldnt but we've seen our running game the last year or so. Im hoping it was pure coaching that led to the line not being able to block. Well, Slauson was also injured, and Garza was a terrible run blocker. So we hope to have improved there.
  6. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) Okay, and these women want to have sex with Kane because he is rich and famous. Why does that make him any worse than them? He's using his fame and fortune to get laid, they're using they're looks. If it's consensual, who cares? It's a win-win. I live in a little town and trust me there are people of all ages and all walks of life at the bars looking to get laid. At the bar I most frequent, the bar sluts come out in full force a half hour or so before they close. I'm not saying random sex is immoral, I'm saying him using his power for random sex instead of worthwhile goals people not in his status couldn't otherwise attain, and also compromising his family career and friends int he process, makes him a horrible human being.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) No, but I sure think they all came out of them looking poorly. I don't think that's the multiple debates, I think thats the state's moves after 2008 to cut down on open primaries and make them only registered republicans.
  8. Bottom line for me, even if he ran into someone falsely accusing him: Kane has power that goes beyond money. He will walk into a place and be the most interesting person in the room, people will want to go up and talk to him and want him to like him just because he is a great hockey player. Kane has decided to use that power to have sex with lots of random women at bars. Not once in a while, but continuously. And he may run into women who naively just think it's cool they ran into a hockey player, and as night goes along and it's clear he wants to have sex with them, it may make them very uncomfortable to say no. That's why Patrick Kane is not like your random stories at a bar. How long do any of us at Kanes age kept going to bars to try and meet women? Not going out with other groups of friends, but actually just trying to meet a stranger at a bar and hook up? The guys just a f***ing asshole. No matter what, he won't be anything more than that.
  9. I am hoping that even if the d still will give up more yards per game, the pressure/scheme can provide more turnovers. But we got too used to running = 2/3 yrds or less. Running should not mean conceding the offensive possession.
  10. These are great stories guys. Glad a rape case got out some great anecdotes about times you almost had sex.
  11. Man, these have been great. I'm not sure I ever realized the collection of organizational talent in the sox org in late 70s early 80s. Really unfortunate how they were stymied from turning things into a powerhouse. Honestly, before this week and the Dombrowski thread, I only really knew of Hawk's terrible year for the bonilla trade and LaRussa.
  12. This thread is full of so much boys will be boys crap.
  13. Listen, if given money, most of you would take advantage of people, assault strangers, cause your employer embarrasment, and be involved in rape investigation. Who among us could deny that?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) The challengers always want more debates than the front runner. In 2004 John Kerry asked Bush to "debate every week". Frankly, I can't make a better argument for fewer debates than "look at how it worked for the Republican candidates the last 2 times out". You think there were better republican candidates that lost in 2008 and 2012?

Hard not to love a pitcher at that age who gets in trouble because he doesn't know when not to throw a strike yet. Seems like he is a pitcher that as he learns to pitch will be a gamer. Trey seems to have hit a rough patch recently.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) the proliferation of guns in the first place also makes it more likely that these dangerous situations happen in the first place Right, there is a moral element to not carrying a gun, in refusing to participate in the 'arms race'.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) Had a gun and a hatchet. Guess we should try and control hatchets now! Hahahaha smh Interestingly enough, turns out he did not have a gun, but an air soft pellet gun, a hatchet, and pepper spray. Nobody died (except himself) but there was one "superficial" arm injury. Your joke was hilarious though.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 06:48 AM) There's speculation that Kevin White has been running and playing on shin splints since his last year of college. That's why he's been struggling so much. He's overworked his shins and didn't take the time to rest them. Makes sense, glad they are resting him then.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) Sucks about Adolfo and Brennan both getting hurt. Love what the Z's are doing in AZL. They are the first names I look for now.
  20. I hope Semien gets better. He was a hard worker.
  21. Well, when you run into the buzzsaw that is the tampa bay offense, this is what happens.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) Unconfirmed, but it appears Ola might have torn his ACL. Tough loss as he is a very versatile backup on the oline. Nothing confirmed but he was carted off the field and was helped off by two teammates. Dickerson is who is indicating a potentially torn ACL. Tough loss, but I read yesterday on Twitter (and I don't even remember hwo from so this is good info) that he was really struggling in the new blocking scheme and was likely to be cut.
  23. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) The spending has been the absolute least of their problems IMO. This isn't the Red Sox FO throwing hundreds of millions at replacement level players. Even this "all in" push resulted in the loss of (I believe) a 3rd round pick and the only "untradeable" contract is LaRoche and his 20 million or so over the next two years isn't crippling anything. The problem has been their arguably league worst ability to develop above replacement position players in house and properly evaluate talent to bring in both through trades and FA. The scouting and player development are two sides of the same coin and they are both utter horse s***. 2nd and 3rd round.
  24. Oh, and Corey Booker's craptastic reign as a senator.
  25. No one really. The Obama administration and the 2010/2014 midterms really killed the dem field. Obama admin because they plucked a lot of governors into their admin and then lost the seats. Dems put a lot of fame behind Castro which was dumb, as he had no powerbase in his homestate to move into national office. Seems like many of the dem darlings could not consolidate power in the elections.
