  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) If Michael Jordan and six NBA titles couldn't turn that neighborhood around, I imagine the sports teams had little to do with the turn around. The Hawks were still big draws in the 90s too. Right. That there are a lot of bars out front with blackhawk flags out front may make it seem like they sprouted up because of the hawks, but if they were not sports bars they'd be something else. They sprouted out because of the residential development in west loop buildings and more people living there that can support it year round. Shysocks is right, it started building east to west, not the other way around. That Ukrainian village has seen similar growth, with worse transportation options and farther from the stadium/downtown.
  2. I like Farmer and DJ but I know I'm the minority here, and I also recognize it's because I don't listen to the radio broadcast often.
  3. Arizona should not be an example for anything land-development wise.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) Because obviously you knew that Rose was going to miss around 3 years of basketball with two catastrophic injuries. I would love to see what 2010-11 rose looks like with Durant alongside him rather than Deng.
  5. I will happily take this but at this point I'd have to say the Pads take the cake. Too bad they play in a stadium that makes baseball as interesting as cricket.
  6. I was thinking how odd it was that this is probably the most unrecognizeable NBA in terms of star teams in 30 years. Top Teams Golden State Atlanta Clippers Oklahoma City Toronto Portland San Antonio Memphis That is nuts. And considering ATL and Toronto, it goes to show that no matter the sport, good management can trump all. Small market, no luck in superstars, whatever. On one hand it's a testament to how good Boston/LA were.
  7. While I would like to see more western con games, I also don't get to see them even when Bulls play. I'd prefer majority of bulls games be in eastern/central time zone.
  8. Honestly Howard takes a huge hit from the fact that he had 2 maybe 3 dominant years. He's a shell of himself, still quite good because of his position.
  9. There was an article that if the padres didn't sign Shields they were confident they'd have Hamels. I wonder what the package was. The padres have been maybe the most boring franchise of my lifetime. Even when they were good they were boring. It will be weird to see them interesting.
  10. Listening to walton do UCLA games is by far the worst of all of them.
  11. Can PECOTA re-run their projection?
  12. Snell man, playing well for 4 straight games. Him being an NBA player is great news.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 11, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) Apparently he was all set to sign on January 24th with a mystery team, and then it all fell apart and his agent put out a release that said he has chosen not to sign with anyone just yet, and is focusing on his recovery and gaining strength in his arm. Not something you want to hear out of a guy who has had two TJS I did not know this, that's a nice tidbit.
  14. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) Snell responding nicely. It is great that he actually looks like an NBA player now I thought Snell would be in dleague by now. Hilarious considering what a baby Bernstein is being about McDermott right now. Snell had like 8 straight DNP CD before this. Practice matters. Now we see how Snell looks with seasoning. He was raw as hell but you are nevr given up on with thibs.
  15. More concerned with cutting down Gasol's minutes than upping Dougs.
  16. So basically the things Boozer was terrible at on defense were more acceptable for our scheme than the things Gasol is terrible at. This is what worries me about Gasol, as Taj/Noah are no longer the closing unit, so it's really hard to get late stops without over and backs.
  17. Or Micah, if he's not a starter at that point.
  18. At least Dunleavy was in shootaround. I remember when I was relieved when he said it was just a jam. 4 weeks later...
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) Best Buy just started selling no-contract ATT HTC One M7's for $150 I did see that, I was happy to see. Luckily it worked out for me as I couldn't have used that anyway.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) Ah I'm not too far from there now. I'm in Old Irving Park/Avondale. Do you have a lot of permit parking near your place or is it mostly street? There is some permit by the cali blue, but that's 5 or so blocks north. It's all street parking. There's occasionally shortages on our block, but for the most part it's easy to park. Except when people claim 40 feet for their sedan via DIBS.

I contacted my alderman. It is a losing battle that I am fighting via example. I will have a garage before I win this.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) So because you don't believe in dibs, you didn't put anything there? Correct.
