  1. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) They won't be winning playoff series with their defense, but their offense had a chance to be best in the league, and still does. It isn't like any of the top teams in the East are defensive juggernauts and could shut down their offense. Let's not forget they went on a 13-4 run before Lebron went down 2 weeks ago. Counting out a team with that much talent while they are just going through injuries is a little premature. Atlanta's D is pretty damn good.
  2. Wow, SF hires their own DL coach to HC.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) The key question is whether a team can have a really, really bad season and it not be the coach's fault. Can a guy have some blemishes on his resume and that just be part of what happens when you coach for a long time or is it some proof that when certain circumstances aren't met, he's no good? It seems Fox has a good reputation for leading an orderly locker room, hiring bright assistants, and generally having his team perform up to expectations. He's had some fabulous teams in Denver, especially the last two years. Last year was the year to win it, and they almost did. This year would seem to have been just as prime time, but perhaps it was Peyton's injury that cost them. My feeling is that if you give John Fox a 13-3 team, he'll get them to go 13-3 just about every time. Sometimes he'll make an 8-8 team a couple games better. I don't see him being the driving force behind a bad team. If our problem is that the team only plays up to its talent level and merely makes the playoffs and usually wins there, we can cross that bridge when we get there. The only thing I'll say to that is 1) Tom Coughlin And 2) That 2010 Panthers team was really hung out to dry by their ownership in the CBA year. While others were loading up because "NO CAP!" they were doing the opposite and claiming poor to get a better deal. But to me, John Fox is basically Tom Coughlin level as a coach, and that's really good!
  4. Man, WCG is in full meatball mode. I have to say, I have concerns that Fox does have a ceiling as a coach. It's clear that he, like apparently every coach, need talent to win. But he has excellent connections for assistants, can handle the team, and will put the team in position where if luck hits we can make a serious run. The arguments, thick with choking on their polish sausage neckfat, that he was only made because of Peyton Manning and the REAL John Fox is the 2-14 Panthers with Matt Moore and rookie Clausen at QB are just ridiculous.
  5. I agree, Shanahan, with the exception of the decent Texans teams (Foster/A. Johnson), has not worked with great offensive talent. Last years browns were awful, not a single good RB, or good WR, or good QB. Under Hoyer, they were pretty good until all of his tendencies were countered.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) I would take him back. We need an extra insurance policy in our back court, imo. To be honest, I'd prefer a Keith Bogans to a Nate for our bench.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) I would assume most of these teams that need a coach would really love to have Dan Quinn, but are just afraid to wait. I think he is by far the best candidate this year. He just might not be available for 3 or so weeks. Correct, really sucks not to have a coach in place that late when assistants start getting gobbled up, plus all-star games. I'd love to get Quinn.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 10:26 AM) I think I would rather the Raiders job than the Jets job, all things considered, but both have been resolved at this juncture so it's a moot point. Raiders just have zero patience with coaches. They fire them every 2 years. They have a better roster than probably ever, at this point, but even still I'd just feel like you are a replaceable cog that they don't have much buy-in on since they roll through so many.
  9. I do think it's one of the worst jobs available. I'd rate it Broncos 49ers Falcons Buffalo Bears Jets Raiders
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) I would say the dysfunction that Shanahan oversaw was tremendously worse than anything that Fox presided over. And even in the midst of infighting with Elway(which was really kept under wraps until about 4 days ago), he managed to go 12-4 and get a first round bye. I would be tremendously disappointed if they went after leatherface. And to be clear, I like listening to Hub, but he is right as much as he is wrong. And even he will admit to that for the most part, a few of his most recent predictions were that Seattle was just another team (this was in November of 2013) and they wont make it out of the first round. I would really like to know though, when we read "Bears want to pair inexperienced GM with experienced Coach", if that is just lazy sports narrative who assume that is a pair that makes sense, or if they are hearing this from Accorsi/George/Ted.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 07:05 AM) Now You See Me - 3 out of 5. Cool premise, decent rental, but it felt low budget. The "surprise" came out of nowhere and felt like sloppy screenwriting. Also, the ending was mediocre and vague. I would give that movie a 1 out of 5.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) When was John Fox in Washington? Wow, sorry, I missed a sentence where Hub was questioning why Fox was better than Shannahan. Let me post the article http://m.chicagofootball.com/2015/01/14/hu...-bears/a8imkce/
  13. So France threw 400 in jail for "defending terrorism".
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) Hub Arkush not wanting John Fox is one of the reasons I really want them to hire him. Hub is a dope. I thought Hub was too negative then he basically called the last two years being a failure, with a lack of talent that required a rebuild, and trestman would fail.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 09:11 AM) ? You don't remember a lot of infighting? The James Andrews stuff?
  16. Hub Arkush has some weird negativity toward Fox. I don't want to discredit 2 superbowls, but NFL is also a what have you done for me lately league and his Washington days were very dysfunctional, so were latter Denver years. His argument seems to be that Fox is being forced on Pace. I'd want to know if that's the truth, or if it's just a convenient media narrative to latch on to "Bears want to pair experienced coach with youthful GM".
  17. I am somewhat very shocked that Jets got Bowles. He seemed like a strong candidate, but OTOH, probably hard for a coordinator to play hardball for a shot at a dream job.
  18. Annnnnd I just realized that Motorola G does not have CDMA.
  19. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) Yea I guess I'm just kinda surprised with all the sources saying it's a match between Bears and Fox that this process hasn't sped up, all other HC candidates are on their 2nd interview and the Bears are still kinda pondering around. THe GM delayed things, but I have to say, considering we had no GM either I am fine with progress so far for 2 reasons: - Dan Quinn - John Fox If Bowles was the only coach I wanted I'd be nervous. I think he'll be fine, but his age does worry me.
  20. I'm in favor. Fox will have hired 4 coordinators that became head coaches potentially. I'm optimistic here.
  21. whoa, what thread is this
  22. I think GoSox was really on the ball and informative when he talked about how Playoffs are a big part luck and you just need to get in there to give yourself a chance. We saw one of the best teams ever, the 07 patriots lose. Best QB, Best WR, great defense, greatest coach in the league. They did not win a superbowl. If we get to the point where we have the talent of a perennial playoff team that isn't getting over the hump, like dumping marty for norv turner, I'll be happy.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) Outside of Belichick I wonder how many NFL fans actually love their team's head coach? Seahawks/Ravens. But yes, I think it's important to take fan feedback with a grain of salt. After 4-5 years, all that matters in fans eyes are weaknesses. Strengths receive no credit.
  24. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) Harbaugh yes Tomlin is close although I kind of want to see what happens with LaBeau being gone. Tomlin landed in a nice position there. The guy that came to me was McCarthy. Tomlin impressed me getting to playoffs this year. He did move into a posiiton with a loaded defense, franchise QB, and the best d coordinator in the business. That team is in transition and hasn't been drafting lights out, but they are getting there once again under him. But ask any steeler fan and he's only a winner because of LeBeau.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) He had a lot of injuries, including Tommy John surgery. I did not know that. Man, he was terrible. They had a pretty bad GM toward the end, whoever the person was to sign d'angelo williams to a big extension with Tolbert.
