QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) i don't know, it seems as this is not the same Rose that came in, in his rookie campaign. maybe it is me. As much as it hurts watching this 8 game stretch after believing he was pretty much back, I will say that when the games have been close late, Drose had no problem getting to the basket when we Iso'd him.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) I am still a bit bitter by how well Korver has been playing after he left the Bulls. 50-50-90 anyone? I think the East is lucky that they don't have a Curry, Durant or even a Derrick Rose who can take over in the 4th quarter. IMO that's what holds them back from being a true favorite. There's a Lebron edit: nevermind, I think you meant Atlanta as the "they" there, I thought you meant the East.

Re: Russel Wilson, in his 2nd year he proved he was a top 15 QB, so it doesn't really matter. Re: Eli/Flacco - while maybe not elite consistently, both are QBs whom the team feels comfortable asking to win games on their own. You wouldn't go into a playoff game with Matt Moore and say "let's sling it".

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) If Mariota is available there, would you pass on him because of Carr? Yes, probably. Mariota is nice, but bird in the hand.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 12:07 PM) Rex Grossman made it to the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl quality QB is overrated. If the rest of the team is outstanding, a guy who can manage the game can win it all. Trent Dilfer has a ring. 4 QBs in the AFC/NFC Championships: Tom Brady Andrew Luck Russel Wilson Aaron Rodgers 8 QBs in quarters Tom Brady Andrew Luck Russel Wilson Aaron Rodgers Peyton Manning Tony Romo Joe Flacco Cam Newton

I don't think anyone knows. Local media has no ties to Pace, and have never really had ties to George/Ted. All we know right now is more for other teams. It appears that Atlanta is frontrunner for Bowles, San Fran for Quinn.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) When watching the Hawks Wizards game yesterday, this was exactly what worried me, and we know Horford and Millsap are capable of doing that night in and night out. And if the perimeter D crashes down, they can pass out to great 3point shooting. Yeesh. OTOH, if everything is tighter, if the guards crash on the pick and rolls harder, the bigs crash on the 15 footers harder, etc. The hawks don't have many players who can create space off the dribble. Teague will need to break down everyone, which maybe he can. Basically, we hope the bulls have that extra gear we believe they have.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) What phone? How long have you had it? I'd probably start by calling the OEM and telling them that you first noticed this happening using the charger it came with (charging any other way is often a violation of warranty). If you're within the warranty period, there is a chance the manufacturer will take the blame and send you a new one. If that doesn't work out, I'd look into the terms of the Sprint insurance. This isn't necessarily some kind of user-induced damage. Saying it's stolen might cause problems, I think - they may want to make some sort of effort to track it down. If you are forced to get a new phone, I'd look into getting a Moto G. They really have very few compromises and retail for less than $200. They also get Android updates on an almost Nexus-like schedule. HTC One M7, 18 months old, so manufacturer warranty is over. I will go to the sprint repair shop. I can't wait for my contract to end in June. I enjoyed the One for about 6 months, but it's been really a pain since then. I know a lot have not had the issues I've had, but this is basically a rundown: - Poor battery - Phone gets really hot when running any application. - When it gets hot, the camera has a terrible purple tint - When trying to take multiple pictures, sometimes my battery goes from "half" to suddenly powering down. Just can't take it. - Struggles to download MMS. I thought this was sprint, then thought it was android, but nobody else I've seen has as much troubleg etting group texts as me. So it has not been fun. I may get a moto g or I found some used moto x for $120. Beats paying $150 for insurance on this thing for a new refurbed one.

Congrats on a great career, Dunn.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 11:28 AM) Washington front court size could potentially give us some issues, but I think we would beat them handedly in last year's playoff with Gasol, Niko, and this version of Jimmy Butler, with or without Rose. The Wizards are largely the same team from last year, but replaced Ariza (who was huge in that series) with old man dbag Pierce. On the other hand, I don't think Teague has been getting enough credit this season. He may be playing better than John Wall depends on how you look at it, and the duo of Horford and Milsap is heads and shoulders better than Gortat and Nene. Let's not forget they are actually under salary cap. I think it's highly likely they bring in a bench scorer like Kevin Martin at the trade deadline. Honestly, Atlanta is not getting credit because they are a boring market with no stars. I'm worried they are about to be the Memphis of the East, who basically stormed the western conference in 2010 when nobody thought they were that good. They have not stopped winning. They play great D and offense. They made the Bulls look awful when they played. And yes, what the bulls give up on D (15 footers to big men) are a strength for the Hawks.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) So where are the Bears at on their coaching search? The only relevant news is Austin (Lions DC) is interviewing tomorrow. We've interviewed Gase, Bowles, and Dan Quinn, and there was a tweet about them interviewing Shanahan but I never saw. Pace himself interviewed Bowles but no Quinn/Gase. I was pretty cool with most of the coaching options but now I'm nervous we'll lose out on the only one I wanted (Bowles).

What was Lilliard's dunk last night? Anyone have it?
-
Why would the Raiders trade Carr? I thought they were high on him at end of last season.

Beside a pretty good dline, I felt like the Jets actual personnel was nowhere near it's peak years. Buffalo is stacked with D talent, so it could be really good.

Sigh, what are people's thoughts: - my phone the other day started emitting a metallic battery acid burning smell when charging in my computer - since then it will only charge with one charger on "slow charge that takes ten hours - it also bare,y gets through the day for me anymore unless on airplane mode for most of day - I am very frustrated - I am in process of buying a house - most money is tied up in that, and probably can't buy phone in full - I don't want to apply for T-Mobile payment plan before my mortgage rate is locked in (suffering through a short sale) - I for some reason have insurance on sprint, should I just say it's stolen and pay outrageous deductible for refurbished phone? - also, phone is unlocked, so repair may not be accepted Thoughts? Better ideas?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) Im not sad these guys are dead, but I wish they would have spent the rest of their existence in tiny cells unable to see the sky. They got what they wanted, what they did will be celebrated among the extremists. Yeah, I really hope they get the ones in the warehouse alive. Also, looks like 4 hostages were killed, so this was not a success.

NCAA basketball 2014-15 thread
bmags replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Very proud of Mizzou for winning their first conference game. The team has been steadily improving, and you can see in 2 years they'll be stacked, but man, much tougher slog of a season than I expected. -
QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) Are you saying that every media business should be required to print these cartoons? I took it as it is silly to place blame on Charlie Hebdu staff for "provoking" these attacks, as seen by the later attacks. These aren't logically motivated attacks, they are hitting "western" symbols, so you can't change your behavior as they will just find something else to fight about.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 10:26 AM) Right its not hard to use the media when they all want to be first with any information true or not. Hub can be a curmudgeon, but man was he right about the Bears last few years. He had been calling out how much a rebuild effort was necessary for 3 years now. And he's right that, we basically just have to hope he gets it right. We have no idea how he is going to build this out yet, or whether it will work.

We should probably stop criticizing the guy for a fake tweet he never said.

Bulls may be worse, or they may just be grindier. I'm sure the offense wouldn't be the joy it has been for MOST games this season. Mirotic working out so far is such a boon. His value was always hit because you couldn't REALLY count on anything. But he has just an incredible work ethic and set of skills, he's going to be at the least a borderline all star eventually.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) Radio talk seems to indicate pace turned down a few gigs and bear job is total control and ideal place for him. Seems like a great move. He turned down jets, but all did.
