  1. Ohh, it's a Sergio Santos situation. Makes more sense.
  2. Top ten farm system here we come!
  3. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) I now wish we didn't trade Deng in a salary dump last year. We feel we have a scary roster with plenty of depth and length right now, had we not trade Deng, we could have still made all the moves we made, and resign him with the Bird rights, and still stay under the tax apron, which frankly would have been a greater addition than anyone we can get in the FA market right now. In that scenario, we would have had the repeat offender MLE, which Gasol would not have accepted, I'm guessing mirotic may have been addition. Rose-HInrich Butler-Snell Deng-Dunleavy-Mcdermott Taj-Mirotic Noah-Greg SMith
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 05:43 PM) All of the Pacers blow-up happened after they dumped their leader too (Granger) and replaced him with Granger. seems like a lateral move
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 05:40 AM) I'm going to say.... .270 AVG, 28 HR, 104 RBI, 3.2 WAR And because every seems to care, I will say 165 Ks, which would put him somewhere around like 23-25% K-rate? Just to put these predictions in to perspective, here is where those would rank last year among 1B..... .270 AVG (13th) 28 HR (8th) 104 RBI (5th) 3.2 WAR (8th) 23-25% K rate (19th) That would pretty much make him a fringe top-10 1B next year, and his best OFFENSIVE comparison would have been Prince Fielder. Now hopefully he plays better defense than Prince, so he will have a WAR higher than Prince's 2.2, and more like Eric Hosmer's 3.1. I'd take that in a rookie season 8 days of the week. I remember reading this and thinking it was right on. Tempered my expectations, this is realistic, it's not overly cynical, this is perfect. I wish right then future bmags could have appeared and told me he'd have hit more home runs than that by the all star break.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) There are probably some scenarios where in an ideal world you could have gotten Lance, Hinrich, and Gasol (while leaving Mirotic over for one more year). That wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world either. This is assuming you could have convinced Gasol to come to Chicago for the MLE, but I presume there was a pretty good chance of that (since he signed for just slightly over the MLE). That would have been great, but looking at how bulls offseason panned out I find it a reach to assume that actually could have happened. My assumptions are much more realistic.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) Charlotte is much better than say the Knicks. I think Charlotte finishes with the 6-8 seed. Charlotte is very interesting now. As dumb as Jordan was for a couple years, they were a rigged lottery from having Anthony Davis. They instead got Michael KG, which, bad pick, but switch those two and people are terrified.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) What happens to MJD in the 1st scenario? I like the starting lineup of the 1st team more. 2nd team with a better bench but part of that is because I dont' know what happened to MJD (S&T?). I would presume if we did S&T MJD in scenario 1, it would have been for some form of a back-up big. The bulls are capped out. Gasol makes less money than Lance. In order to open up more space, MDJ is only logical player, snell/butler less likely. Lance + Greg Smith - Gasol = a bit less than MDJ contract.
  9. QUOTE (Wedge @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 02:27 PM) This might be a really dumb question, but what sorts of things is Thibs going to do when both Gasol and Noah are on the court at the same time? I know Gasol isn't considered a great defensive big, but I think the pairing should be pretty solid defensively. But what about offensively? What sort of sets can they run when they're on the court together? Just once, ONCE, just for kicks, I'd love to see Gasol run a pick and roll with Noah.
  10. Assuming the following: Boozer could not be moved and is amnestied The McDermott trade happens exactly as it did (Randolph included) Hinrich signs Does soxtalk prefer: Rose-Hinrich Stephenson - Snell Butler - Doug Taj - Mirotic Noah - Greg Smith or the current Rose-Hinrich Butler-Snell Dunleavy-Mcdermott Gasol-Taj-Mirotic Noah-Gasol ????
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) Stevenson screwed that up royally. He left a lot of money on the table by rejecting the Pacers last offer. In a world where Marvin Williams gets $7 million, I'm amazed 23-year old Lance Stephenson only gets $9 per. I have to say, I think there was a lot of GM chatter about Stephenson.
  12. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:20 PM) You're better than this. Doug isn't playing SG and that nickname is turrable. I think referring to Jimmy noBUckets.
  13. I assume by including George you are talking about ... wait Paul George. Paul George is not better than Kevin Love. Paul George isn't even a top ten player. You think Paul George is better than Westbrook? Howard? Davis? Love? You are nuts. This board is so stupidly against Kevin Love just because Felix was annoying.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) ZZZ It was never about whether McDermott could score, it has always been about what is the plan when you add Mirotic, Gasol, McDermott and dont really address other needs. But if McDermott is playing PG/SG that is something to discuss, otherwise the guy who was a great scorer in college should continue to be a great scorer going up against similar college level talent. He's updating the thread with relevant Bulls news, you are arguing with nobody right now.
  15. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 10:16 PM) Dougie McBuckets looking good again. Quick release, doesn't need a lot of room to get his shot off. 13 points at the half...3/5 from 3. Thanks. Didn't know they were playing a day game, hope there is a replay. If you are watching, let me know if Billy Baron does anything fun.
  16. Boozer the man was awesome, and as a teammate he was awesome. His contract unfortunately sucked when he found he could no longer jump. But as hype man he was one of the best.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 09:00 PM) His PER last few seasons: 13-14: 3 11-12: 5 10-11: 4 Outside if the 3 obvious players, I don't see 2 others with a great argument over Love for being top 5. At worst he's 6th or 7th. I really hope that's his ranking in PER and not his actual PER.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 08:16 PM) I agree with this. Dunleavy is pretty good but having him and McDermott is counterproductive. I am also of the mindset that Mirotic needs to be playing. I would be very interested in trading Taj and Dunleavy to upgrade the wing and SG positions. Taj is a nice player. He is a good rotation big that plays really good defense. However, Taj makes $8 million, is going to be 30 years old, and the team just signed Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic. $8 million really isn't that much, and he's one of the best defensive power forwards in the game, he can also play the 5 if called upon. The bulls love him too much. They just doubled down on including him with Melo at the cost of much more reasonable cap space, they aren't going to trade him because of "excess" for a guard now.
  19. I wouldn't do the Nate trade either. I do wonder what Denver would ask for, though, but at this point MDJ is our only salary piece we can really trade now that we've renounced all NGCs.
  20. Question: Would you trade dunleavy to Denver for Nate Robinson, coming off of an injury, and creating a hole at SF?
  21. The problem is Wiggins is likely the 2nd best defender on Cleveland already. Lebron is going to need to pull defensive weight on that team.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 08:16 PM) I'm not an expert, but that would be pretty tough to do, I believe. Do you list specific injuries? Grades of injuries? What is stop a team from drafted an injured player intentionally with the idea of saving a huge chunk of cap space to give to overslot players down the draft board? Who decides if an injury is severe enough to qualify for this? It would be pretty brutal to draw up the guidelines. Again, if only Major League Baseball had some sort of arbitration infrastructure in place to deal with these issues. I don't know that you need specific injury guidelines but you absolutely should have due process in place.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 06:52 PM) Obviously, but the question continues to be whether you continue to hold him assuming that the Cavs refuse to part with Wiggins. If Thompson/WIggins are never offered, then yes, I would hold him until midseason.
  24. How was this not standardized?
