QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) ESPN announcing the return. LBJ is heading home. Come to Chicago Melo!!! Don't give ESPN any credit for this.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:42 PM) In mere minutes, we should see Bosh sign with Houston. Classy way Bron Bron handled this. Presume you all have read the SI letter he wrote. CLE has to trade Lin first.

I hate this hack more than marriotti or the whole world: Source confirms? Really?

wow I thought the cavs fans were so delusional that he'd ever come back.

what the hell: http://www.si.com/nba/2014/07/11/lebron-ja...eland-cavaliers official?

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) I never said that. I said the other deals that Stan overpaid on will start to hurt them. With this core, you can't just have a 3 year lull. One of the windows is right now. There's a salary cap as you know, so that's going to limit how high they can earn anyway. Do MLS stars really make 10.5 mil? I'm legit asking, I honestly don't know. It was my understanding that MLS guys don't make a ton, which is one reason it's so hard to get top talent. I can't imagine MLS revenue is greater than NHL revenue. Maybe it's the top stars make a ton and everyone else is making peanuts? Is the MLS TV contract that good? Don't the play on NBCSN as well? No the MLS non-stars make nothing, and they don't have any tv. But to me it's scary that in 2014 the top earners are only making 10.5 million/yr. Barclays Premiere League is on NBCSN and is one of their bigger draws. But as we've seen with Sox/mlb, people aren't coming to stadium, yet the league revenues are growing substantially. I don't necessarily think a hard cap is bad, and this isn't necessarily a hockey problem as a sports one, but I'm really tired of crap run organizations being artificially propped up. It's great that everyone has a shot in football, but parody in football is largely because the sport is brutal and bodies are breaking down constantly, and some years tons break down and some none break down.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) I don't disagree with you. Only way it could be done is if both Melo / Lebron take some discounts. I've always discounted it because of the moves they made but now I really do wonder if LBJ is just waiting Bosh out so he has to eventually sign with the Rockets. Lets say they do and it's 19-18-15 = 52 52 + 5.5 = 57.5 in 4 players + 2 for haslem = 59.5. Plus 2 for granger = 61.5 That's with melo taking a 4.5 mill hair cut, James taking 1.7 mill and Wade a 7 mill.

LOL at Mizzou being a top SEC baseball program (and I went to Mizzou)

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) Melo / Wade / James. Again, I just don't see how under the cap this is feasible. Big 3? Easy, bird rights on all 3. Renouncing Bosh doesn't suddenly free up 20 million for them to spend.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:32 PM) Real Gm insider, Ralph, indicates Bulls have deals lined up now to be able to offer Melo full max deal without a S&T with Knicks (with exception obviously being fact we can't offer 5th year). Take it for what you will. Also, Marc Stein is indicating Lebron has not given any indications that his decision will come before his trip to the world cup. That means Bosh would have to decide on Houston prior to LBJ deciding. I'm starting to think there might be something to this whole new Big 3 in Miami. Explain
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) They'd have to get rid of Gibson in that scenario. If that's the case, they better be ready to have a deal lined up to S&T for Gasol or another PF. mirotic.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) I know nothing of him but people seem to say he's legit. I know he's been a so called "insider" there for years. I'm just amazed that name still exists.

I wouldn't discredit Ralph!

This is boring. Decide already. The worst part to me is they are just going on with their lives. At least huddle in a war room or something!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) Someone said the floor was up to $56 earlier. Yeah, you are right. I can't believe the difference between the salary floor and salary cap is 7 million dollars.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 03:41 PM) Which is why they can't take Boozer back in a deal. They are a 3 time offender of the repeater tax and the Luxury tax payments are something close to $70 million I believe. That's insane. This isn't the case. Deeks laid out a pretty clear scenario even without Boozer where this can be done and keep them out of lux tax.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 02:32 PM) One thing worth noting is that the Knicks without Anthony are pretty close to the minimum salary line. They'd clearly like to remove a couple contracts like Calderon or Smith to clear 2015 space but they can't do that unless they take some salary back. Knicks current salary without Melo: $59 million, $6 mill above salary floor.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) And that's why it's worrisome. Depth could be a really big issue. Unfortunately this is the NHL working by design, though. There may be another 3 year lull while talent builds. I don't think expecting your two biggest stars to take deals way below market value deals is realistic. NHL needs to get some TV revenue. It's ridiculous to me how the top stars in NHL make so little comparitively. THe MLS pays their stars more.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 02:16 PM) I agree with an earlier post, I don't think Phil necessarily wants Melo at the max. I just think the crap he could get back for him is just so unattractive, so he has to keep Melo as an asset. If the Bulls added Melo, their draft picks won't be any good, and remember Phil really had no use for guys picked in the 20s when he was coaching. The reality is unless they beat the odds and land LeBron or Durant in the next couple of years, the Knicks aren't contending for a title until Melo is way past his prime. I think the crap would be unattractive except they have been so horrible about giving up draft picks (and may continue to need to dump them to get rid of more crap contracts) that picking up that sac pick and another 1st from bulls might be worth it.

How are there reports that sign and trades are no go when other reports say no attempts have been made between Phil and Bulls. Cowley is talking out of his ass.

It's amazing the logical knots silicon valley/sf will tie themselves into to continue their ignorance that they are "bursting at the seems". Can't build more! nope, need to believe in "geographical diversity". It would be much more preferable to take advantage of the tech efficiency in silicon valley by letting. more. people. live. there. http://techcrunch.com/2014/07/10/silicon-v...merican-cities/ Hate read of the day for me. Hate read of the day.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:31 PM) Wait a second, didnt Sheridan report that Lebron to Cleveland was a done deal? Come on now, dont throw stones in glass houses Sheridan better be careful, he's setting himself up for a pretty harsh reaction if this doesn't come true.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 03:02 AM) These are compliation of Cowley tweets before ^^^ this one. Source: the term "reconsidering'' with Carmelo "might be a bit strong.'' Bulls were contacted by the Anthony camp, not Anthony. .. it was to let them know that Anthony is really being weighed down by his decision. No money was discussed, but Bulls sense they might a need a bigger boat, and quickly. Sign and trade still not moving the Knicks. Could Taj now be moved to free up more money? Hmmmmm. Here's what I don't get about this, bulls and Knicks havent discussed sign and trade so how to we know it is even an obstacle? Honestly don't think Phil really wants melo.
