QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 03:41 PM) I was factoring in Haslem resigning at a similar or slightly lower rate. I have no idea how cap holds are calculated. If you are under the cap you have to include the minimum to fill out the rest of the roster. I don't think Haslem will make more than 1 million next year.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) James - $20.7 (max) Wade - $11 (significant pay cut) Bosh - $13 (significant pay cut) Haslem - $4 Existing Contracts: $2.8 That would put them at $51.5m. I believe the cap is $63m. That would leave $11.5m in cap space. But, that's assuming Wade and Bosh take HUGE cuts. Haslem opted out. You also aren't including cap holds.

Wait, isn't the max for lebron 5 for 125? (guess not, max will be $22.2 million, so 5 for 112)

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 01:25 AM) Something close to like $4.5 million I believe. Does this roll over?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) Heat might end up doing something incredible but I would be hardpressed for them to find space for both Lowry & Deng. Lebron would be taking less then the max and Bosh / Wade would be taking significantly less then the max. Right now Heat are approximately $55M under the cap. 55 under the cap but likely: 25 to lebron 35 under cap $25 to Bosh/Wade 10 under the cap 5.5 mill then in roster holds 4.5 under cap Obviously sign and trade is what would matter plus getting rid of Cole would help out even more. Wildcard obviously is Lebron, but I think in his angling to be players rep, he'll need to take max.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 01:52 PM) Justice Alito's opinion seems like it tries to limit itself to the evil that is abortion but you're right, the logic should follow to any other type of health care. It's just sort of a given that it won't get applied to men. They've clearly got no issue covering Viagra. Someone said there is a quote that says that this only applies to contraceptives and you "can't follow this ruling to its logical conclusion". Great help for lower courts. When deciding how the USSC will decide, just put yourselves in the shoes of 5 cranky old men who are terrified of clouds and women.

I think 5 for 90 would sign melo. Unfortunately I don't know the road we have to get there.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 02:25 PM) You don't explore that option by telling Carmelo he needs to take a paycut. And they still have Mirotic. You lay out the scenarios for him. He can take 15 and have a much better chance of a championship, or we'll pay him 22 and have more holes in the roster. We have no idea what Mirotic is, but a stretch 4 who had 4 rebounds in 4 games in the finals doesn't scream much more than Luis Scola ceiling to me.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) I personally think Taj is underrated. He never received consistent minutes with Boozer here, but when Boozer was out and Taj started, he was nearly a 20/10 guy (granted he played a ton of minutes those games). Add that output to his elite defensive abilities and if starting, he is definitely a very valuable player. If I am the Bulls, I am trying everything in my power to add Melo while keeping Taj. If you add Melo, Taj's defensive versatility can really help compensate Melo's lack of defense. Agreed, you at least explore the option. Let's all realize that the starting PF would be atrocious next year with Taj gone.

G.D. Belgians, think they can just buy all of our breweries and sell the swill back to us.
-
Kyrie Irving - 5 for 90 Steph Curry - 4 for 44 Steph curry is getting half as much as Kyrie. The NBA's max salary is such a bizarre phenomenon. Most of the best players in the league are getting paid less than max, and the next 10-15 are getting paaaiiiidddd

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 09:33 PM) Until they cut Boozer, trade away a piece, and then come up empty. It seems pretty clear that part of being on the same page is the bulls prioritizing Taj for Thibs. That piece is someone he can live without now, but Taj is clearly going to be a bull for better or worse.

A pitcher with bad knees...what.

I still think Brazil is going to put together a game soon. They had about 15 more quality chances vs. Chile, but they have been bad at finishing. Argentina will go far just because their route their looks really pretty.

I know this is off-topic, but I don't get how Hawks could be 20 million in red last year but Bulls 61 mill in black. Salary cap is about the same, attendance and prices about the same. I know their tv deals ain't $80million apart.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 08:17 PM) i dont trust Pau to stay on the court It would depend on deal, obviously.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) Mauer is not really much of a fantasy option except BA, and he loses his catching position in fantasy next year. Rendon has potential, Jaso is a decent waiver wire catcher. If it's a keeper league, and you are out of it, it's not a horrible deal. Rendon could be a top 10 2B in a few years if he stays there. It is a keeper league, and I am out of it.
-
If no Melo, backup Gasol for Noah would be lovely. That would be pretty fun seeing Mirotic / Gasol on the court.
-
I was offered the following trade: Rendon Jaso 10th pick next year For: Mauer 12th pick (I have mauer) I have machado at 3b and bogaerts at SS in a 14 team mixed league. I love Rendon but I've bought high before. I like this trade, but I'm terrible at FF baseball, what do you guys think?
-
boo.
-
I can see why that trade did not work out.

I find Ginsburg's dissent much more compelling.

The ruling seemed to indicate they agreed that the government has an interest in regulating this, so I'm not sure that one is lifesaving and one is not is relevant.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 04:58 PM) They explicitly said in the ruling that they were ruling solely on a religious objection to contraceptives. It seems silly that they refused to provide any guidance on obviously related claims, but that's what they did. Ugh, I hate this court.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 05:54 PM) Dunleavy might be the actual real key here. He's the difference between the Bulls being able to offer Melo a crappy, below market deal and a near-Max deal. Are you sure? I feel like I've read if all contracts save rose, mcbuckets and buckets, gibson and noah are on team that is still only 15.75 million (capholds)
