  1. Jake - White House already stating they won't invoke 14th amendment. Debt ceiling will not be easily resolved.
  2. So you were funded for school by the KKK? -Just getting this in there before mr. genius.
  3. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 04:05 AM) Why won't Reid allow a vote on any of the CR's that the House sent them? Because they are attaching riders to things that should be a clean vote. Why hasn't Boehner voted for the 3 clean CRs the Senate has passed? Why has the house suddenly moved to regular order? You want negotiations? How about "okay obama, we'll give you some part of the immigration bill, if you delay x from obama care" That's a negotiation. Both sides give and get something. A negotiation is not "Okay, we're going to take down this country unless you pass all these bills we want!"
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) Gonzalez had 1 amazing week and has been very blah besides that. You never trade a WR1(and a top 5 one at that) for a middle of the road TE1. Whoa, you are are right. I thought he was giving out 10+.
  5. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) Seriously, just pass the damn cr with a delay on Obamacare and then your shutdown is over. Then get your asses back into session and decide this thing NOW, but COMPROMISING, not saying you will do it my way only, clean, or i won't pass it. reid has had multiple chances to do it, and failed to do so. Both sides are playing politcs here, you choose to only vilify one. Hahaha. Compromising gives both sides something they want. You can't tell me what the conservatives are "giving up" is allowing the country to be funded with the appropriations they've already approved. I have a great compromise for you, Alpha. If you agree to give me $5,000, I will give you not vandalizing your house. Let's meet in the middle.
  6. I don't think the Gonzalez trade was bad for that guy. TG has been performing and he may have had a WR2 that would be a small enough drop off that the increase in TE points was worth it. But I would not have traded Gio Bernard for Alshon. Who may be an up and down guy.
  7. Guys, it doesn't matter that the republicans are holding the economy and government hostage. They were pushed to this edge when then-Sen. Barack Obama said that raising the debt ceiling was a failure of leadership under George W. Bush.
  8. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:22 PM) Increasing the debt ceiling. remember, that is supposed to be a sign of a failed leadership to raise the debt ceiling. And in that scenario young Barack Obama led a democratic revolt that led Democrats to bring country to the brink of default... Oh wait, that never happened, sorry, yeah, I got lost in your equivocations again.
  9. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:22 PM) Nice dodge. How about we don't pass a budget/ CR that we cannot afford...when rates go up how do we pay interest that is 200-300 billion more a year? Yes. Let's ask the bond market without the FED buying treasuries. DONE lets do it. Passing a CR and passing a budget are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. One is funding payments that have already been approved. Sure, if republicans can build a coalition that can pass a budget reducing spending, go right ahead! That's the democratic process. But don't block actually paying out money for things you've already purchased. That's childish, reckless and stupid. As for last part, fine, let's do it!
  10. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) How much debt is too much? Let's ask bond market.
  11. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 08:17 PM) Who do I start at flex? Rashad Jennings, Willis McGahee, or Fred Jackson? Jackson has the toughest matchup, McGahee has been garbage, and Jennings is a wildcard. Right now I'm leaning towards the wildcard. I think I would still go Jackson. Best player of the bunch.
  12. Well well well, not only could the clean CR pass with a majority, apparently it could pass with a majority of the majority: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/just-w...of-gravity-here Yet...still not up for a vote. Why? John Boehner fears he'll lose his speakership. I hope you understand why you are sacrificing, hickoryhuskers. B/c John Boehner doesn't want to fight too hard for his job.
  13. Year 2 of basically 100% roster turnover for Missouri. sigh.
  14. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 06:31 PM) GOP is going down big time for this. They will be crushed in 2014. All they had to do was weather the storm and take back leadership. I don't think that's possible after the latest shenanigans. I believe in free speech and such but damn Duke, you could be more compassionate and sympathetic toward your fellow posters. Your beef is with the government and that's fine but the people losing their paychecks are clearly collateral damage. Probably not. Dems don't do well in midterms. Senate likely to flip red. House would be impossible for Rs not to hold.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) I'm OK with Obama meeting with Congress, if and only if it is to discuss a grand bargain to encompass the budget AND the debt ceiling. And even though I am not a huge fan of ObamaCare, I'd hope (and I'm pretty sure) that won't be on the table for defunding. Allowing for some specific tweaks or changes makes perfect sense, but defunding it or delaying it en masse is absurd, for many reasons. If that isn't a topic for discussion - addressing the full boat for a long term solution - then the GOP can roast on the fire they built. I just think it's a huge mistake unless you are removing debt ceiling forever. Because it's such a ridiculous that what you are 'giving up' is allowing the government of the country to function.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) In our Soxtalk league I've got Demaryius Thomas and Welker AND Manning, and despite the loss that will be taken on Denver's bye week (I think week 6), I don't know that Denver doesn't score enough points to require diversifying, to be honest. Yeah but the lineup of the Broncos you are mentioning is more powerful than mine. Decker has been good but inconsistent. Gordon reminds me of Percy Harvin in Minny days. Should get some rushing and lots of receiving. And I'm only 2-2 so I can't really take a sure loss. Welker-Decker is no where near as powerful as Thomas-Welker.
  17. Dems give up - Signature piece of legislation that took (at least) 40 years to pass Republicans give up - annihilation of government Seems like a hell of a compromise!
  18. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 06:47 PM) See, when Obama, and you, say 'pass a budget', what you really mean is pass MY budget so I get what I want. The house passed at least 3 CR's in the last day or two, all of which were just ignored out of hand by Harry Reid. Even in the reagan days with Tip O'Neil, they compromised sometimes. Tip was a two-faced liar like most politicians, but you still negotiated and gave up something to get something. What do the Dems want to give up to get? Nothing. LOL
  19. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 05:34 PM) How about it ends with the government stop spending money it doesn't have? That would be a good place for it end up. There's a great process for that to happen. Congress has ability to pass a budget. A very stupid and childish and purposefully harmful act would be to approve funds, and then refuse to pay them. For crying so much about the consitution and founding fathers, you don't really seem to give a damn about the institutions to run this country.
  20. Obama to meet with congress about shutdown/debt limit. Because...I have no idea. Stupid move. Very stupid move. Opens up country to a potential crisis every time republicans have a Dem prez in office. Unless this ends in the removal of the debt ceiling vote, I don't see how anyone but politico could see this as a good move.
  21. What do you guys think of Decker (me) for Josh Gordon and mcfadden handcuff. I have Welker as well and have been thinking about diversifying before bye week.
  22. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 06:14 PM) And they are acting at the President's behest. Just like the IRS did, whether directly stated or implied. Yeah, and that's what presidential elections are for.
