  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 08:18 PM) There's no question it would have hit the side of the rim but I don't think it had any chance of actually going in. I know by the letter of the rule that's still interference, but it's a dumb rule. If the ball had bounced off the rim, was still on "top" of the rim and moving outward, they allow guys to dunk those balls or tip them in all the time. But having watched the NBA for decades now, we all know the NBA could give a s*** about the rules until it suits them. Just about everyone travels but so long as the dunk/lay-up is made at the end they don't care. TBH, I'm not sure I would like it changed. I very rarely see that play, and I'm fine with that.
  3. That was clearly goal tending. However, I think there is a legitimate argument that the refs 1) blew another goaltending earlier in OT and 2) refs did not call goaltending on the floor, and should not have reviewed it. If 1) was correctly called, hopefully we win by 1 but you never know. If 2) happened correctly, we are just hoping to win on B.S. ourselves.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) According to Stacey King, Rose is dominating practice and is very explosive. He'll be fine, once Reggie gives him the OK to suit up. And obviously Stacey King is never hyperbolic and always reliable source of info.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 03:36 PM) They've modified the proposal to exempt smaller accounts, but Cyprus still seems set to reject the deal. Good. Germany has been making dumb move after dumb move. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/20/business...p&_r=1&
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 02:28 PM) Wade is probably a top 50 player of all time. The Heat became a totally different team when they went from Wade's team to LeBron's. They are almost unbeatable now. Someone is going to have to beat them 4 times in the playoffs. Good luck with that. well the heat also weren't very good prior to Lebron b/c wade kept getting injured. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Lebron could have stayed at the cavs and they would've won the title last year. Lebron hit his peak and we are seeing what that looks like - an unstoppable scoring force combined with a top 5 defensive player (and the 2nd most helped by officials) But also, the Rose hate is f***ing stupid.
  7. Glad justice was served. Sure was a lot of lies in that anonymous local leaks site, however.
  8. Well, they beat seabrooks ass. So they have that.
  9. This is like playing on level rookie
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) Marty is clearly trying to say that $7m per year doesn't seem like much, but that it adds up to a lot of resources over time. This is a stupid point though.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 05:02 PM) Ramirez hit so badly last year almost solely because of poor pitch selection. That's something he can definitely improve upon -- I don't think his failure was due to declining athleticism. I was just surprised because I thoguht the oddly warm April and May would lead to better #s for the season for him. But clearly that did not pan out. Maybe the cold just doesn't matter, people just start slow.
  12. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 04:43 AM) You know you have no life when you watch every Jermon Bushrod play vs San Fran and then also watch the first half of every J'Marcus Webb play vs SF in the same day..... Bushrod got double team, not chips, help From Nicks or Stithcomb on nearly half of the Saints passing plays. Webb got no such help at all in the first half. I won't say I think Webb is better (because I'm already burnt out on that argument over on talkbears) but Bushrod was put in a MUCH better situation to succeed in Nola while Webb was set up for failure. All I can say is I'm glad Kromer is coming with him and they will presumably continue to do much of the same. I think Bushrod would look awful in the Bears offense of previous years. I imagine Balta will give you a big bearhug for this.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 02:47 AM) That overtime was everything that is great about hockey. Crud, I missed it.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) Just my way of remembering that I spent that whole series thinking "Man, if Rose was healthy and Bosh was out we'd have this". Right, but I think regardless, once Lebron went into that mode...He's not gonna be stoppable for at least 3 years.
  15. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 01:58 PM) yeah was at that game laughed my head off. was a muggy day. Beckham hit a home run and the fireworks smoke LINGERED in the air. I remember telling my brother what a great time for a fly ball. and BANG DeAza hits a pop up that landed by the pitchers mound . NOBODY saw it anywhere because of all of the smoke and he got a double. Sometimes ya gotta love home field advantage. What a great basbeall moment. Will probaly never see that again. I was there too, and it was one of my favorite sox memories. They were actually lucky, it happened twice but the second time wasn't infield fly called? That was the best inning. It was crazy being there because the combo of smoke and lights, the cloud was really impenetrable to look through.
  16. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) God, I hope Phil Rogers starts posting here so we can have some threads about random trade (im)possibilities with no basis in reality. In fact.....is it possible that Phil Rogers already has a Soxtalk handle? Dewayne wise to yankees?
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 05:44 PM) Wasn't Bosh hurt for most of the Eastern Conference Finals? The Celtics pushed them to 7 games. So?
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 13, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) I didn't and don't really care who the pope is, but I'd imagine there's numerous LA cardinals who don't have that sort of baggage. Are you sure? Doesn't seem like a Cardinal without baggage exists.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) Game 1 of the playoffs last year the Bulls looked amazing. Everything was coming together, D-Rose was finally back and dominating, it looked good. I'd say that was the best they'd looked since Game 1 of the ECF the year before when they handled the Heat, Taj dunked all over D-Wade, and I was certain the Bulls were headed to the Finals. We all know how that ended - they put LBJ on D-Rose and that was that. So even if Rose's ACL doesn't explode like the hospital in The Dark Knight last year they still weren't getting past LBJ. But if Rose's ACL didn't burst, perhaps the flapping butterfly's wings would have torn James' ACL. Championship=BULLS
  20. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) Not gonna pay to read a Phil Rogers article, but even without reading it I can tell you Phil Rogers is a moron. I agree with you, I read it for you, and it was awful. It's also loosely related to white sox, my palehose forum, brethren!
  21. Being a regular sports columnist is a hard job to get. And, frankly, it is a hard job to do. It's a wonder then, that Phil Rogers gets this soap box for articles like this: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...,5227440.column What a lede! 11 players have worn 56 for the Cubs...could Buerhle be #12? I don't know! What is the significance of #56 on the cubs? What is the significance of the #12? WHY IS THE THOUGHT PROCESS OF BUEHRLE TO CUBS INTERESTING ENOUGH TO WRITE ABOUT. This ruined my whole day.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 03:46 AM) I don't. Not with the way LeBron played. I think people over think the heat being down 3-1, without grasping how unstoppable Lebron became game 5
