  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 05:20 PM) I've scored 104 and 98 with my guy in NBA 2k12. The key is - you have to take every single f***ing shot. And you have to get rid of it quickly too. I don't see any way it'll ever happen unless some dude takes like 30 foul shots in a game and makes almost all of them. Kobe is going to get as close as anybody will ever get. how come I suck so bad at NBA2K12?????
  2. Did anyone read Tom Scocca's Gawker piece on affirmative action? Quality scocca trolling that (imo is also dead on, and i've felt that way since senior year when people were complaining about it). nvm, here it is: http://gawker.com/fisher-v%27-texas/ scared what path this may take us down.
  3. Up with Chris is not original reporting, but is many times more informative than cnn at the top of the hour.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) Bears players can live off of media exposure for the rest of their lives. If Brian wants money, he'll be back in Chicago doing endorsements and interviews pretty quickly. He'll also be a candidate for HC position for the rest of his life.
  5. I stopped watching 2nd period and was feeling great. Ducks are a good team, can't expect to beat them everytime. We'll get em later.
  6. QUOTE (balfanman @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) Is it a definite decision that Urlacher is gone? Is this not the same as breaking off negotiations.....for now? After a month or 2, depending on how the draft goes, if Brian realizes that he's not all that anymore, and the Bears still need someone, could they not "resume negotiations"? The Bears would have a better idea where they stand cap wise by then and if Brian has no other offer this might still work. It just seems to me that this is not a done deal just yet. When Urlacher starts getting offers in for like 1.25 mill, we'll see what happens. Dude wanted bears to negotiate against themselves, but I don't think he'll make much more on the market.
  7. Urlacher was a much better player years 4 and on (especially starting 2004), however, my favorite years were his first two. He was running around solely off of athleticism and instinct. And the plays he made were insane (though often out of position). Him chasing down some of the fastest players in the league, cutting off passing lanes, and coming out of nowhere for sacks. He was so much fun for his career. But also there was that awful period where he was dating paris hilton and kind of sucked.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 01:48 AM) I don't see a clubhouse mutiny. These guys are professionals, a new captain will be chosen and they will look up to him. Probably Briggs I'm most worried about Briggs.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 10:38 PM) Yes, he distilled the liberal/centrist hawk message so perfectly. He was dead wrong, but suck on this was so much more honest than WMD.
  10. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 12:44 AM) Heat down 21 at the half to Cleveland Didn't last long
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 12:50 AM) Exactly. I'm torn, on one hand I think we could easily upgrade over urlacher. On the other I think the clubhouse could mutiny ahainst an unproven coach and a GM who just spurred the clubhouse leader. But mostly I just think the nfl is really evil.
  12. I'll say this, Tom Friedman's opinions were the most honest.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) The same can be said for hate speech - why do we allow it, why protect that speech. Well, because we deal with that in a free society. We're more concerned about the slippery slope than of the offense of the speech. And I agree with that position. I feel like there's a compelling difference between saying something offensive (like calling a 15 year old a b**** and a skank), vs stating that you would kill or assault someone. WIth one, there is a reasonable assumption that they may follow through, or cause someone stress if they believe they will follow through.
  14. Is McBride good at special teams? Cause: In 2010, McBride had a career-high 5.0 sacks for Lions. Over his six-year career, he has 9.5 sacks. He ain't at rushin the passer
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 06:57 PM) Sec. 12-1. Assault. (a) A person commits an assault when, without lawful authority, he or she knowingly engages in conduct which places another in reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery. I think in case law though verbal threats aren't enough. You need some kind of physical motion as well (short of physical contact though, that would be a battery). Waiving my fists in the air, running towards you, etc. There's zero immediacy in this example. They posted it on facebook and on twitter. She didn't know if it was coming 5 minutes from now or 3 years from now. Penn law might be different, I dunno. I don't think this would fly in Illinois unless there's another more specific statute for online bullying/threats that I don't know about. Btw, here's what they wrote apparently: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-th...-by-mean-girls/ Bunch of skanks mouthing off. I'm not going to lose sleep over the fact that they got arrested. But I don't think it's really appropriate either. Edit: I should add too that they got arrested and they'll be in juvenile detention for over a week since their court date isn't until March 27th. So. Yeah. A total overreaction, IMO, even if they are pieces of s***. enough with the usage of b****es and skanks, please.
  16. You guys are haters. Those dunks were awesome.
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) He's just being honest. You can't put him out there on passing downs. Which is just killer, b/c Urlacher's HOF value was his ability to block those middle of the field passing lanes with his speed and vertical. Just sucks seeing people get old.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) No, it just means they're full of crap because they're high schoolers. Kids are stupid and say stupid things all the time to look impressive/sound intimidating to gain some reputation. I don't think we should assume that what high schoolers say or what they post on the internet is the gospel truth. I think the vast majority of these hyperbolic tweets are ignored. But in this case a number of those high schoolers have proven to do extraordinary things, and precautions are warranted.
  19. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 03:44 AM) But we have to have absentee voting and early voting or nobody would be able to vote on Election Day. Somehow over the past 10 -20 years it is impossible for people to vote on the actual day they hold an election. How in the hell did this country survive 41 Presidential elections without early voting.....Because like that fraud in Ohio who voted multiple times....it never happens......purge dead people from the roles? Why do you need to do that? I like how the example of a handful of voter fraud cases that were persecuted is proof that voter fraud is rampant. You only know about them (nun who voted for their dead friend, etc) because they were tracked down and caught via voter rolls. It is not an advancement for the photo id cause.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 03:01 PM) Yglesias compares the Congressional Progressive Caucus's budget to Paul Ryan's. http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2013/0...e_liberals.html I'm not sure why Paul Ryan and his incredibly ideological budget that would fundamentally alter the structure of government and is full of terrible math gets treated as a Very Serious Person while the CPC gets completely ignored and Democrats get attacked for not presenting a budget. Patty Murray's budget is the Democrat budget.
  21. I really hate the sun-times mobile site. I like reading Sean Jensen's articles he posts on twitter. But you can't log-in on my phone or tablet. And when typing in the password it keeps hiding the keyboard every five seconds. Can't standya.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) That is merely speculation. I dont think voter fraud is that big of a deal, but I do admit that if people were being clever I may not have any clue they are doing it. They must wear guy incognito glasses or something.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) And so would creating a system to increase your chances of getting duplicate or false votes. This is about winning a game, nothing more, nothing less. That's not creating a system, that is the system, a system which is remarkable for how free of that type of voter fraud exists. Hey Dad, check out this rock! Wow, what does it do? It keeps bears away. How does it work? I don't know, but I don't see any bears around here, do you? Lisa, let me buy that rock. That's the dialogue from the simpsons that I think of any time this s*** pops up.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:40 PM) Twitter though, jesus. This case is all sorts of f***ed Tell you what though, it is sick looking at reply's to any celebritys tweets. There will be 10-15 "i hope you f-ing rot you f" things completely unprompted. There really should be some way to report abuse.
  25. I should be allowed to threaten to kill anyone I want! And then go buy a gun without issues!
