Isn't it funny how scouts usually end up being GMs and not coaches? And when coaches do it becomes a miserable failure? There's a reason why GMs coming in usually get to hire their own coach. They hire a guy with a similar style, because those are the players and schemes they think will win games. That's where a coach GM relationship works. acutally I don't even know why i'm arguing this. Show me the situations where giving a coach more power over personnel has worked. It was the downfall of many great coaches.

They brought in Cutler's guy(Jeremy Bates), they brought in Mike Martz, an offensive guru who really didn't have a failure on offense anywhere else. Yet, you people state Lovie didn't know offense and all the coaches he hired sucked. Chances are if he brought in Sean Payton and the offense failed here, you would talk about how Payton was always overrated. In the end, the teams execution is the head coaches responsibility. He hired the offensive coordinators. They failed. That's on him. The bears saw numerous players look inept on their offensive unit, only to appear much better on other teams. They were not good at developing the talent they were given, and they were not good executing with the talent given. That's the head coaches job.

He definitely deserves another shot at HC. Frankly, he just needs to actually hit up a competent OC, which he didn't find here. But you can't survive after woefully ignoring 1 facet every year. For as disciplined and good at execution as we were on the defensive side (and special teams), we were the opposite on offense. Undisciplined, horrible at execution, and just bad.

Hester, considering your drops cost your coach his job (very likely), I'd suggest you do just retire.
