$700 Billion Bailout
FYI, if you want a comprehensive look at who is getting this money and when, I suggest ProPublica, a great investigative journalism non-profit site that has been doing an awesome job. http://propublica.org

Witness to Jonestown
I have to say, one thing I thought wasn't as well done, was they didn't make it quite clear how the mass death was always done. To me, at first they made it seem like everyone voluntarily picked up the cyanide. Then, to wrap up, in one sentence they were like, kids and elderly were injected and all this stuff, and I was like, wait, what? What a disaster.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) Not sure where this goes, so, here goes... Bush's disapproval ratings are highest... ever. Higher than Nixon, post Watergate. People willing to say they disapprove - highest ever... People demanding accountability on illegal activities and stymied investigations - shockingly low...

The Million Dollar Arms
It's not like cricket is so far off. IMO this is like when we recruited a lot of the hockey players to play lacrosse, the skills were very translatable. That said, I see no point in just signing for the sake of signing. In roads can be made in other ways.

Witness to Jonestown
I was hoping to get a little more insight into the drug use and loss of reality of Jim Jones at the time and they kind of touched on it, but before all I knew of was on wiki, and this was pretty good. It was very unsettling, though, for sure. Scenes from a nightmare.

Russia v Georgia
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Putin does come across as exactly that, though. If I was to judge on appearance alone, which I do all the time, he fits the role of a Russian leader. He has that look in his eyes that he can have you killed without hesitation. Also, isn't he amending a portion of their constitution to come back into power? No, the Russian constitution says you cannot not serve 2 consecutive terms as president. President Medvedev is now asking to extend term limits from, I believe four, to 6 years. It is likely that at the end of Medvedevs term he will step down and Putin will be elected again. except this time he will be allowed to serve two consecutive terms again, at 6 years a piece.

Congressional Elections Results Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) Then why is that effect so much larger in Alaska than in Hawaii? There is a lot of state pride in Hawaii, I think the opportunity to vote for a Hawaiian president even after victory is a greater push than the opportunity to vote for your governor after you already know they lost.
