Witness to Jonestown
I was hoping to get a little more insight into the drug use and loss of reality of Jim Jones at the time and they kind of touched on it, but before all I knew of was on wiki, and this was pretty good. It was very unsettling, though, for sure. Scenes from a nightmare.

Russia v Georgia
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Putin does come across as exactly that, though. If I was to judge on appearance alone, which I do all the time, he fits the role of a Russian leader. He has that look in his eyes that he can have you killed without hesitation. Also, isn't he amending a portion of their constitution to come back into power? No, the Russian constitution says you cannot not serve 2 consecutive terms as president. President Medvedev is now asking to extend term limits from, I believe four, to 6 years. It is likely that at the end of Medvedevs term he will step down and Putin will be elected again. except this time he will be allowed to serve two consecutive terms again, at 6 years a piece.

What movies have actually made you cry?
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) But that's what movies are supposed to do, take you away from reality. I disagree.

Congressional Elections Results Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) Then why is that effect so much larger in Alaska than in Hawaii? There is a lot of state pride in Hawaii, I think the opportunity to vote for a Hawaiian president even after victory is a greater push than the opportunity to vote for your governor after you already know they lost.

Obama's Cabinet and Staff
QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) A friend of mine who, well, let's say is in a better position to know certain things even compared to people on this site suggested NY Fed President Tim Geithner as Treasury Secretary. He thinks that's a better choice than Jamie Dimon. In the same article where people saw Summers, it mentioned Geithner. Geithner is fairly young, no?

Change is Coming
QUOTE (Soxy @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) I think they're also going to have to do something about the rapidly rising cost of higher education. I hope. I live in a state that has the worst tax effort towards higher education in the country. Tuition has raised way over inflation rate for 4 straight years. They are also planning on cutting the newspaper that is the biggest reason we have the #1 journalism school in the country. This state is pathetic...if I could reiterate.

Obama's Cabinet and Staff
QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) Is that guy still around? He got booed at my school once. I think this talk about Rahm Emanuel being more of the same is so silly. It's the chief of staff, you want someone who is going to fight for your legislation, not some REALLY nice guy that is ineffective but is CHANGE cause he's so nice. Obama should've named his COS snuggles the bear.

Behind the Scenes of the Campaigns
I just think most of us are political junkies who enjoy every piece of knowledge we didn't know about the campaigns we followed so closely for over a year.

It was pretty good. For 2 minutes I didn't hate affleck so I'd say it was his best acting performance.
