because before it even came out everyone knew it was going to be the best ambient album of the decade, and then we heard it, and yeah, it was. But then we realized it was an ambient album, which is about as listenable as bird calls on cd. When do you actually turn it on and listen to it? I mean people had no idea what to rate it, because on one hand most knew it was a great accomplishment for it's field, but also that it is background music, and at it's best will never be anything defining, will not have that sentimental moment where you hear the song and it flashes you back. Rarely do I hear 10 minute drone and it takes me back to my college glory days. That's why you see it getting such high review marks, but it won't make many people's top albums of the year, unless they are wankers that laughed when they saw the song title dopamine clouds over craven cottage. And if they do rank it #1 I'm going to force them to sit down and listen to the whole album with nothing else going on and video tape them as they wait for some sort of high on that album where you can go, oh yeah. So McBride and Adam whatever...props to you. You made a great ambient album that I'll never listen to unless I'm making a soundtrack or falling asleep. Or a soundtrack TO falling asleep. so that's why I can't believe it, essentially.

I'm just saying this isn't a life or death decision, and it's the reason why the choice between a school of 40,000 and one of 2,000 is still a huge choice in narrowing it down. The difference between the actual education these schools are offering is so trivial and hard to quantify. Obviously for specific schools in some colleges it is reason to go there, but for business you have the choice of really just finding the school that's a right fit. In reality the northern business school just got a new facility and has been climbing up the rankings, what marquette can give you is a more personal experience with professors. But to say that later in life because you went to x school it will give you a leg up just by name? No, it's all on what you did to get yourself there, and it's a lot easy to develop yourself at a school you feel right at. But every employer I've talked to in a social setting, they get about 600 applications a year, and just where you went to college is among the bottom of the criteria they are looking for. But if you use your UWisc. time to use everything the school has to offer to network and all those things, then that's where all that money pays off in spaids, because schools like that have so many tools for you.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 05:51 PM) Very true. Kenny's out there with the garage sale mentality...trying to save a dollar or so. Doesn't work when you're going after a Miggy. As for the farm system...I was thinking things really wouldn't be that bad if just a couple of guys panned out better...namely Anderson and friggin Sweeney. and valido.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 05:45 PM) Yeah I do. If LSU can play the "But" game - "But our two losses were both in triple overtime," then USC can play that game too - "But we only lost to Stanford (by one point) because our quarterback broke his hand in the game." Basically, it all goes to show there should be a playoff system. After LSU's performance against Tennessee, I think USC could destroy them. come on though, arkansas and kentucky are no where CLOSE to the upset that stanfords was. Stanford was playing their backup QB too! -

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) Mizzou is the door mat of the big 12. I like that in your best football season ever you couldn't even win your division. -
to be real though, unless you are getting an ivy league education, where you got your undergrad really doesn't matter unless you are going real bottom of the barrel. It's all about networking and developing yourself anyways. Nobody is going to look at a job application and say "ooh, well his butler education is ranked 10 spots above his texas A&M education, he must be better for the job." Especially concerning business too, unless you are gonna be in Upenn's school of business, it's a dime a dozen. My friends that go to loyola have an easier job networking in the city for internships, but my friends at northern and missouri in the business school are finding jobs just as easily just not with the same luster as working in downtown chicago. so like I said, go for the campus you feel a connection to, because there really is no scientific way to figure it out. It's a gut feeling, and likely no school will leave you in a terrible position unless you switch to a major they don't offer.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 05:16 AM) Wait a minute, am I missing a massive tuition increase at Illinois? I know out of state has to be nuts, but if you can qualify under in-state it was about 8k a semester when I graduated including room and board, which is coming up on 3 years ago. Granted it was about 6k a semester when I started, but s***, that's almost an extra 10 grand a year... I believe after I factored in my 5,000 scholarship deciding on mizzou in 05, We figured that I was only paying an extra 1 g a year compared to instate uofI

QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 02:45 AM) I only looked at big schools when I was looking around for colleges, and frankly, the lack of effort during a visit that Michigan State gave was insulting considering I spent a lot of time and effort getting out there for the visit (I'm from NJ, so going to visit MSU isn't exactly a small feat). They built up the day for months, and when we finally got there, it was basically nothing organized at all. They had a opening presentation thing, which was at least somewhat entertaining (meaning I didn't go to sleep), but that was it. Also, during said presentation, all they seemed to be concerned about was bashing Ann Arbor, that really pissed me off. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the recruiting from those big 10 schools. I didn't like UofI early on, because of the campus set up, but I really liked Wisconsin Madison, but I went there and they really didn't seem to put in the effort to make it feel like they wanted you to come there, I mean I know they will have like 45000 applicants regardless, but they lost me. I never even thought about Mizzou, then I applied there, they called me once a month and sent me uber amounts of materials and gave me a nice scholarship. Looking back choosing colleges was such a crapshoot, but no doubt I picked the perfect school for me, and for that I feel pretty fortunate.

QUOTE(max power @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 02:03 AM) So one guy below avrg and 4 (or more) above is going to be league average? I doubt it. Crap shoot? Every WS champ I can think of, for at least the past 7-8 years, probably more, had at least 2-3 pitchers pitching well below the league average, with two being the exception to the rule. I don't see who that will be for the 08 tigers right now, especially with their rather average BP. I'm convinced they still need to add some pitching before they are a contender. They still might. I think the 06 cardinals pretty much ruined baseball.

I guess I came from a big town but i really don't understand how a big campus would be overwhelming. Mizzou has like 22,000 people in it, but as a junior now it seems so small. My advice, go where you feel a connection to the campus, then your first year get involved in as much s*** as you can. Because time flies by so quickly, and by the time you are a junior you look back and have a bunch of "I Wish"'s when it's time to start making a resume for internships. Mizzou's pretty cheap out of state and we'd be welcome to have ya.

QUOTE(That funky motion @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) What if it wasn't as close as everybody thought, and Kenny drove up the price for Detroit. this is my thought. When I heard about DET yesterday trying to acquire them I thought we were gonna try and do whatever to block it, but I mean they gave up their amazing farm. Unfortunately, with their farm gone, they are still in pretty good shape with a young granderson and a young cabrera to build upon.

if we trade kong-crede-uribe like people talk, the only people rowand would know from 05 would be ... Dye and AJ - pitchers buerhle-contreras-jenks...and they would have been first year's that year. Wow what a turnover. -
