  1. yeah. They are f'd. what about that mizzou pitcher at 8. Mizzou grads never disappoint.
  2. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) I like Swisher and all, but I don't see how this move makes us contenders for next season. Our rotation still blows, and our bullpen has added overrated s*** face Linebrink. big whoop. We get another power hitter who at least knows how to take a walk, but we completely destroyed our farm system. If we don't make the playoffs next year, Kenny Williams must be fired, because he f***ed this team up big time for the long term. our farm system was already destroyed, these guys weren't all going to miraculously become top of the line players, they can easily be replaced, maybe not DLS, but hell, he was exploded onto the scene this year, and we can replace people with a high draft pick.
  3. well to be fair, i think most people thought we got a fair return on garland, just not the right one, i think most of us would've preferred that buchholz, taveraz, hirsch package the year before. but as of right now, i love it. in the offseason our OF went from the worst in the bigs to having JD and two high obp guys with 25-35 hr capability. AND our 3b is much better shape than 1/2 of last year, when...andy *shutter* gonzalez and pablo PABLO OZUNA were there. UGH. 2b with richar is scary but hopefully he can be what you'd expect out of a #8 or #9 hitter, and our SS is >>>>> than last year. Now, we need our young pitching to improve, so, roll the dice, our pitching will either perform or not. But, at least our team will be much more fun to watch this year.
  4. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) great, another guy who K's 100+ times a season. oh my god, who cares.
  5. But if floyd/danks fail, i don't think that it would've been Gio and DLS that we would've gone to this year anyway.
  6. look at that jerry owens power surge!!!! 5 HR!!!
  7. but i mean, a lot of teams have been putting power at leadoff. Soriano, young, granderson...if he's gonna get on base at a .380 clip who cares if 30 times that he got on base he took himself straight home?
  8. he has a pretty arrogant coaching staff, i wonder how much planning they actually do in that month off.
  9. they said that the guy coaching this game right now was headed to mich after the game was over.
  10. and michigan fans, i think you can take even more excitement knowing that RR had such a good staff that they can pull this off.
  11. just another example of how strange this season has been...how the hell could WVU lose to Pitt that last game? That sucks, WV is fast as hell at like every offensive skill position but i had no idea how strong they were in the trenches. and, bradford looking like a frosh and stoops game calling like it's a bowl game, OU has been very disappointing in bowls for several years now, somethin gives.
  12. so...bulls under new coach are looking good. Now our bench is an asset again with gordon off of it.
  13. what the hell happens to bob stoops in bowl games?
  14. it does though, USC and OSU have finished in or near the top 5 for like the last 7 years and have consistently pulled in top talent. I mean maybe not dynasty in terms of championships, but with the way the bcs is screwed up, i think that hardly matters now.
  15. what has taveras done besides hit some triples against us to warrant us always trying to trade for this kid?
  16. that wasn't really the point, but saying "hey if all that bad stuff wouldn't have happened we would've only lost by less." Your turnovers weren't boneheaded mistakes, they were forced by the heavy pressure USC was getting and good tackling. And it's not like you have tom brady back there throwing the ball, some int's should've been expected from juice. USC showed up to show that they were still among the best in the nation after having suffered the most embarrassing loss of the year, and they did that. Unfortunately, it's what we all predicted and all the bcs matches that everyone said would suck have sucked, unless either of these BCS games thrilled any of you.
  17. I don't really like the argument by the illini fans about if there were no turnovers it would have been a respectable 2 td loss. Turnovers are forced for the most part. You guys said the same thing about the game vs. us. Painful sugar bowl. You don't think the folks down there would've rather had missouri instead? Whatever, we did what we had to do and had a great season, it was nice to wake up hungover and not have to be stressed by a close game. T. Temple, i'd love to have ya back if the miracle appeal goes through, but hell of a way to end it. also. Willy mo, You are my favorite still. (get drafted by the bears in 2 years.)
  18. Their frosh QB got rattled at an away game. Neutral field i think OKL can go step for step with anyone and probably convincingly win.
  19. once again, maggs, i think you are forgetting oklahoma.
  20. i'd make the argument for oklahoma taken on USC.
  21. absolute destruction of arkansas, especially touching after all that s*** they were talking about how we couldn't keep up. TT said F'all. and btw, in addition to not getting a BCS game, and getting a 1030 time slot (aka hungover slot), we also got the worst announcing team. Thank you NCAA.
  22. I"m not that impressed with LSU, they've been living off of pre-season reputation and a blowout victory against Vatech in the early season. You can act like the SEC is some super conference, but you'd think that after playing all the hard teams they'd blow Ole' Miss outta the water, but that was close too. They have all the talent in the world, it's one of the reasons i'm not that impressed with les miles.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 30, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) LSU's speed advantage is a myth, they've played close games/lost to teams nowhere near as good as Ohio State, and their receivers can't catch. Plus, their best RB (Keiland Williams) and their best QB (Ryan Perriloux) will be on the sidelines most of the game because Les Miles is a fool. and ohio state played close games/lost to teams nowhere near as good as LSU.
  24. well, he's a young player, that might happen.
