BA gets way more views on any of our carolina rosters, so I doubt that. He's also definitely the 2nd worst evaluator, just ahead of callis/mlb pipeline. I've actually come around to BP despite some eccentricities. That said, I also could care less about arm strength for Outfield. I know it's a factor but push comes to shove, nobody gives a shit about it. Any team would throw a 1 armed outfielder out there if he could cover all the ground and hit like a maniac and get the ball in reasonably to the cut off man.
  2. Vuc for Gobert
  3. Their entire bench needs to go minus Ayo/Caruso. Too much non-playable fat, too little shooting. TBJ, bye. Coby, Bye. DJJ bye. Tristan - fired into the sun. Javonte - Bye. Simonovic - why were you given a real roster spot.
  4. Doesn’t Eloys injury kinda clear out DH for Burger?

Would love to know what I’m missing with this guy
  8. He was really great 2 years ago, I don't know though. Maybe a pick next year. It's just he's 28 and already paid on a second year deal.
  9. I think people will appreciate when Kelly joins as well (so long as we occasionally have a lead)

@Y2Jimmy0 is Kade Mechals in the org still? Did he just never recover from TJS?

Wow he still looks so tiny. Intrigued by his start to the year. Definitely a player that could have used all of 2020 considering how raw he was in his HS career. But now seems to know his value, seems like he's walking a lot and getting more hits under his belt. Hopefully acceptable power can come and his speed provides plus defense. Might be someone who takes the long way to the majors but still put himself back onto the intrigue list with this start.
  12. It is funny how the one place sox personnel feel they can be candid is ripping on their fan base.

One thing I've wondered is now that draft is mid-season, and there are no tickets to it, why not start the Complex League earlier? Can't you just shut down any pitchers at innings limits once the re-enforcements come in post-draft? wouldn't you rather get a longer season for the guys that aren't in full season ball yet and are developing? Start that ish in May.

Kath walked and then was brought home on a wilber sanchez double. I continue to be so proud of Lenyn Sosa.
  15. Narvaez was actually good with his bat. I have a hard time believing in Collins bat considering how it looked against a fastball above 88 mph. Also I feel like I reserve the only right to rub Narvaez in peoples face because I made this argument at the time and was forced to eat shit about it because colome was paid market rate to be an average closer.
  16. Dylan Cease, was also no guarantee Moncada would make enough contact. Giolito was a fallen prospect by time sox got em. They picked up a lot of high variance players in their rebuild and did pretty well. But yeah their pro scouting is trash, has been trash since Hahn took over. Hostetler was trash as an am scouting director, and now appears to be trash as the pro side.
  17. Seems like Giants are still pretty good. If you have an owner who feels its icky to spend most of the orgs money and time scouting unproven talent, well the Giants showing you can still make hay with great pro scouting and incredible player development. BUt you have to have people in your org who want to be the best at something, not just make sure they are competent in all the things the other orgs are doing.
  18. Wish sox would have taken more local draft picks in 16-19 imo We rely on stats and sample sizes, but not really true of the scout writers. Yoelkis doing fine in AA right now, but we aren't seeing any broad re-evaluation of him being boosted by him showing to be a real baseball player in ST like some anonymous scout quotes implied, if anything he has fallen further. Doesn't really matter, but as we follow these guys seems clear that we have a group of players that need to perform stats wise to believe in them, because there is no scouting report on any of these guys save maybe Kath that you can look past the struggles because they are so talented.
  19. fans are always made fun of for the emotional appeals to stuff like this but it sure has felt all rebuild like this org's M.O. was it was all about winning* up to a certain point... while other orgs seem deadset on winning at all cost in their windows. And it feels like that has carried down to the players. In the front office, if the way we do things is not aligned with how the best in the league are doing it...well that's okay. Just do your best with how we operate. No shame in that. And so on the field, if what is holding you back would require changing how you go about your game? That's fine. Maybe the opponents will change. You are a white sox, and that means trying to be as successful as you can within your own self-created limitations, but never, ever changing those. It's okay guys. You aren't wrong for swinging at the 12th straight slider out of the zone. It's the pitchers who are wrong for not giving you a fastball.
  20. Well, at least its gratifying for this board that after a few years of pointing out how impressive it is that some of these pedigree-less players like Rodriguez and Ramos (he had a decent bonus) were performing really well for their age/league it has now caught up to scouts. Though oof to look at that board without a single 50 is rough. But it does feel like Birmingham used to be this black hole that sucked any promising talent through the depths, but if you survived you thrived. Now it feels like it's Kanny. The lack of a league between AZ and Kanny feels like it has pushed a greater experience gap. Now it's basically college freshman aged players or younger mixed in with college seniors+, and in Kanny at one of the most brutal parks for hitting. Ramos hitting line wouldn't scream out to a zoomed out observer, but on this board there is enough history to see what he did and be impressed. Sho'nuff. Colson has a long time to find power in both his limbs and his approach, but to not be overwhelmed is *chefs kiss* OTOH boy yoelkis spring surge didn't last long.
  21. Yeah. Good teams can have losing streaks. But to have an 8 game losing streak when your pitching has been pretty good because your position players have turned into the Pirates feels like a team showing you who they really are. They won't be the worst offensive team in baseball all year. But the players seem uninterested or unable enough to counter a pretty simple game plan against them that top ten seems unlikely. They may not be the worst defensive team in baseball, but actually they might be. Mentally, they look equal parts checked out and pressing. Sort of amazing. Overall, feels like there has been a lot of accomodating, soothing them to get them back. Probably good. But I also feel like real leadership would look like Jose Abreu giving his glove to Vaughn and saying he will DH at this point in his career. Amazing tony was such a hard ass about swinging 3-0 but completely calm about players pissing all over on defense.

If this rumored set-up happens: https://www.mlb.com/news/international-draft-cba-negotiations?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage I think that would definitely fix it, to me. Biggest issue has been volume and they'd be in a 20 round draft. OTOH, that's 2026 from the March proposal...so hard to get too excited when we are talking about something that likely doesn't kick in for the sox until the 30s in terms of impact. Paddy may even retire before then.
  23. bmags replied to DirtySox's topic in FutureSox Board
seriously, he's only 2 injuries away which means roughly next Wed.
  24. bmags replied to DirtySox's topic in FutureSox Board
I'll always have a complicated view of the sanchez signing (however, if he is actually a starter then he was a slam dunk signing, there is no doubt). But Sanchez definitely reminds you to give a lot of deference to the guys Paddy does sign. It was hard to look at a 21 year old coming out of cuba who had slash lines of .255/.299/.328 and believe his bat could ever hang in the big leagues. Yet here he is on the verge and largely based on the skill of his bat, not his glove. And you could say the same of Yoelkis power. He muscled up, but did not hit homers in Cuba, a league we were told was so watered down it was worth taking stats with a grain of salt. Yet he hit more homers last year than his entire Cuban career. The guy can look at these guys in workouts and project, man.
