  1. I am going to get responses like : - Left handed! (true!) - Not even that good anymore (also, indisputable) However, the hardest thing about the reliever market this year is everyone that looks good has multiple years of control or is on a cheap deal. That sweet sweet meeting of "Pending Free Agent" and "Good" is hard to find. Would I rather Giovanny Gallegos? You betcha. But the Cards are out of it, they just are. And Andrew Miller is a pretty expensive pending free agent. He is not what he once was, however, since his return from injury here are his stats: 14.2 IP 2.00 ERA 66% strand rate 14 Ks 5 BBs ahem...uh 17 h His velocity on his FB is not where it was last year, but has improved from just an average of 87 in April, to 88 when he returned to 89 for his 4 seamer and 90 for his sinker. In July he gave up 5 singles on his slider that had an avg exit velocity of 76 mph. Really unlucky. So the main point is this - At his salary he likely comes cheap, and he's better than Jace Fry. And he could be ascending, OR, it was just a blip and he's about to be injured because, he's old and has pitched an insane amount. His slider doesn't hav ethe drop it used to, but his sinker actually looks pretty good. Is sinker slider my fav bullpen array? no, probably least favorite. Welcome to the deadline baby.
  2. Jeeze Tucker has to get that

This is what I tell myself, but I worry I'm pulling the wool over my own eyes. I think it's a defensible position that I can sit and nod with Y2Jimmy0 that this farm is cleaned out and picked over for trades, but that also it has a lot more talent than it seems. Like 2014 felt very barren to me when following the nightlies aside from TA. But it had Micah Johnson destroying AAA, Spencer Adams looking like a steal in RK, Courtney Hawkins had what seemed like a recovery season in A+, Yolmer was a near .300 hitter in AAA, Trey Michalcsewski had a good season in Kanny (780 OPS as a 19 year old). So, I just don't know. It is full on wait and see mode. The absolute best thing that can happen IMO is thompson continuing to click, and kelley and dalquist turning it on. Also, sure would be nice if Norge Vera existed and we could see his promise by destroying the confidence of 22 year old journeyman in DSL.
  4. Same, Giants are a lowkey fun team. Everything Zaidi has done has been a mystery, but it's mainly just "we are a top organization and shouldn't need to sell to the studs, just use our overwhelming advantages to find talent in every crevice" and it has worked. That is a long fake quote. Go Giants! New fav NL team
  5. Well, I'll call bullshit that Buxton and Gallo are getting B names back, Peralta...well obviously. But I love the faux-outrage every time a Machado or JD Martinez trade happens and they are like "tHeY aRe OnLy WoRtH ThAt?" for like 45 games
  6. Unfortunately Jon, these A names are only under contract for 2 more months, so they will return b prospects like every other year we do this
  7. Ah, so he’ll sign in San Diego to play RF

Rough day for you or sox farm? I got you dude, I can handle one day
  9. I agree here. Sheets provides needed LH power in DH OR Grandal in DH on off days. Vaughn's bat needs to be in lineup now even vs. RHP, so that's RF. 2b is the sweet spot, easy to fill, lots of options, perfect for a rental.
  10. oh...my...god why did I keep looking
  11. Just keeping score here since I came across this while searching for something else 1. Nelson - Good! 13.8 K/9, excellent bullpen pitcher. Sox should have listened to me. Don't read the rest! Stop reading! 2. Folty - hoo boy, -1 WAR, 6 ERA 3. Matt Moore - 6.5 ERA out of the bullpen...oof, okay, okay. Not great! but preetty bad. 4. Trevor Williams - 5 ERA, but, he had a good month? I'd say Trevor williams was about as bad as I expected. But probably worse in the AL. 5. Anibal Sanchez - Never came back, so I'll chalk him up as a win 6. Chase Anderson - By far the worst. I think the lesson is don't swim in the same ponds as the Phillies. 7 ERA, only twice as many Ks as BBs. Just absolutely awful. 7. Tommy Milone - 6.5 ERA, also just f***ing brutally terrible. So 1/7 or 2/7 if you give me that the retired guy wasn't actually hurting a team like the other guys on this list. the sox chose Rodon instead, wise choice.
  12. Gavin really rounds out the lineup much better, and I think that should hopefully push FO to believe in getting a real backup catcher knowing that we have some LH power on bench already.

I could really just go for some national writer validating that some of these guys are legit interesting. I feel like when I had no idea and was just looking at box scores thinking Ruddy Yan was going to be incredible (guy had like 70 steals in single-A in the early 2000s). I've seen enough prospects crash and burn in kanny that seeing the mixture of players capable of hitting for average (rodriguez, polanco, mieses, mendoza) or power (rodriguez, mieses, krogman, ramos) or obp (krogman, ramos) that it feels like one or two could be capable of putting it all together. But I'd like some damn validation there. how many bryan ramos' are there in Tampa? 10? 20? who knows. edit: more on this, basically zero of these guys have any prospect pedigree. Ramos had the biggest bonus I believe? The high school guys like Krogman were not even in top 500 of BA I think? Rodriguez and Polanco just kinda showed up in DSL. Mieses had a real bonus, but none of these guys were top 30 international guys, or top 500 players. Soooo they all seem like wait and see but...I guess that means AA? or if they make noise in A+ together?
  14. I think this is overly harsh. I'm not going to hold it against dipoto that they were way more competitive than expected this year. He has made some great trades and them developing Crawford was really impressive. I don't know if they have enough, but this trade definitely helps. It's not like the bulk of their rebuild is up yet, it's still coming with Kelenic and Rodriguez.
  15. For the record, he was talking about in free agency.
  16. Yeah that’s why I responded. He definitely said he tore his UCL and I never saw anything new. Weird if he’s pitching with it.
  17. I don’t think so? And he would have pitched the ninth. I wonder if they are doing a Tanaka
  18. I’m so confused. He’s in the box score tonight.
  19. Well
  20. No way, he did it to win first and foremost. They are leading wild card
  21. Boooooooo. No removing players except for trades
  22. Shocked by dipoto honestly
  23. Man damn i saw this happening in June let’s see what suckass team pulled it off
  24. The rest of their draft should be okay right since they planned on him being overslot?
