  1. I didn't realize Robert's diagnosis was updated, that's nice to hear. I still can't get over how I've never seen Robert in person. I can't freaking wait.
  2. I can't believe Butler was only $150k and that pushed him out of top ten rounds.
  3. This is not intended to be a downer thread just to cut that off - I am genuinely curious and hoping someone may know a resource where we can find out. Hasn't it felt like this year the sox have had a larger than usual number of games where a single opposing player has a multi-home run game against them? Last night it was Garver, but it feels like our pitching is amazing but one guy will just have two solo home runs every game. Mullens stands out from Orioles, Garver last night. Meanwhile obviously our power has been down but feels like the least multi-home run games by a sox player this year I can remember. I think I can only remember Yaz? Is there a stat resource where we can find multi-home run games without looking at it manually?
  4. This is a fantastic call. I feel like every time I get to listen to the radio Len is never the broadcaster. That's an amazing call.
  5. Just trying to deflect from LaRussa!!!!!
  6. You gotta hand it to Tony. He made a lot of wrong decisions.
  7. You got the walking part right
  8. Burr? What is happening
  9. We only need one, you should be prepared to swing. Doesn’t mean swing at a ball. The absolute dumbest commentary isn’t coming from the booth.
  10. Tim. Not that one
  11. Feels like there will be some movement. Surprised Imit has been so piecemeal
  12. There is no need, as it stands there only 4 infielders in Birmingham, and the sox JJ Muno can play all over. Romy can play 2b and 3b and yolbert can too. There's plenty of ABs.
  13. Figured Bham had room as I saw laz rivera was in AAA too.
  14. Gallo is great but doesn't hit that threshold to me of going all in after them. Each offseason offers fresh players and team shakeups, rentals are fine and can offer some big production on a short period. Sox rebuild took advantage of teams overvaluing cost control in some instances. Unless they are elite or young + very good (yellich), i'd prefer to just keep the guys we have. The exception is always buy a reliever every year.
  15. rays could but they won't. Not a lot of other top farms are competitive. But Pads took a hit in their top ten, as rosenthal notes in piece.

Rosenthal mentions sox as a potential suitor for Story, but then dismisses it. I'd say none of the big writers have much on who sox are heavy on, which means they probably aren't heavy on anyone at the moment. Would expect deadline at this point (not going out on a limb there, I know. https://theathletic.com/2714711/2021/07/19/rosenthal-the-10-most-intriguing-questions-of-the-2021-mlb-trade-deadline/?source=dailyemail&redirected=1 A team such as the White Sox could acquire Story to play second base, but it would seem odd for any club to land an above-average defender at short not to play short, and trade prospects in the process. So, barring an injury to another contender’s shortstop, it would not be a shock for the Rockies to keep Story, make him a qualifying offer and receive a compensation pick when he departs. That, after all, is how they landed Story in the first place — with the 45th pick as compensation for the loss of reliever Octavio Dotel in 2011.
  17. edit: sorry, forgot link: https://theathletic.com/2714711/2021/07/19/rosenthal-the-10-most-intriguing-questions-of-the-2021-mlb-trade-deadline/?source=dailyemail&redirected=1 Yankees/ Pads in on them. I doubt yanks are that hot, this is a weird year for them.
  18. couldn't matter less to why playing in a bad division makes you worse.
  19. also I love Escobar, great dude...guy would not be an all-star if he wasn't on the diamondbacks.
  20. Did it hurt the patriots not being challenged enough in their own division? Step on their necks and laugh.
  21. If Yadi asks for a trade to the sox that's basically the scenario where it happens. But would love to see how it's handled. Grandal would be forced into DH, Eloy into LF because Yadi isn't sitting in the playoffs with TLR as manager.
  22. I think we are just old, that doesn't look like the brother of an 18 year old anymore lol.
  23. Was hoping he’d throw out first pitch yesterday. Hope he gets a warm welcome! @Y2Jimmy0 Great podcast with josh Nelson. The stats on that 15th rounder are hilarious.
  24. First half 2006 was probably best Sox ever. When those innings caught up to the pitching staff thou…sigh
