His 2020 reinforced an excellent second half of 2019

Also damn board fav priester sounds like he's off to a good start Quinn Priester, RHP, Pirates Priester blossomed from a projectable righthander with a low-90s fastball into a physical force who sat 96 mph and touched 99 mph this year. His curveball added power to become a borderline 70-grade pitch as well, and he did it all without sacrificing his advanced strike-throwing ability. Evaluators considered him arguably the top pitcher in Florida and didn’t hesitate to put front-of-the-rotation projections on him.

White Sox to participate in 2020 Arizona Instructional League

Was just going to pull this out since it's dedroundhereanyway -
Their offense is also just horrendous with zero power outside of Arenado/Story about to lose what they do have power wise next year with Story. It really does make sense for Rockies to do a teardown this offseason. Get what they can for Story, trade Arenado to the Cards, and then yeah, get rid of marquez. But that means extracting as much young talent as possible and that's where I see Marquez being extremely painful.

I think this is true, the decision tree is probably similar to : Sign springer -> Trade for Lynn Trade for Darvish -> sign JBJ or Pederson Not even indicating these are the two likeliest moves, just underscoring that I think we only have one $20+ mill salary in us.
-
Blackmon isn't negative value now. It would still require a significant package while having the awesome effect of maxing out salary for the next two years.
-
What is the appeal of Marquez if we are offsetting his cost control value with a super expensive, aging outfielder while still giving up our cheap depth of prospects? Marquez is a bad option with our assumed prices. Unless the rockies are going to take a package we'd be willing to give, he's a silly target.

Rosenthal's latest said teams are more interested than you'd expect in Michael Wacha due to his velo increase last year, and they believe his ERA was bad luck in his HR rate.
-
It hasn't been confirmed but there's been pieces in articles that state indicate this isn't likely to change.

Excited for some movement as for now there are too many pieces on the board. One thing I find interesting is for all the talk about cutting spending, I don't see that many teams actually posturing that way aside from the cubs and cleveland. Brewers would seem to be a team that could effect as well. But Tigers and Royals both seem to indicate they are looking to add. Sox certainly. Perhaps twins can't, and there will be teams like the As that just can't retain as much talent as they would in a normal year. But who knows.

I don't think it was nixed to avoid tampering. It was nixed because kings/bucks just assumed bogdan would sign. Bad idea.

Outside The Spotlight: Marco Paddy Finds Talent Despite Restrictions
bmags replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This was super detailed. I'm excited about Guzman. His stats probably don't scream out at people but they were from when he was 16 and you just don't often see pitchers with nice K% in DSL. He mostly only went 4 innings, and it really was just a bad inning that warped his era to being somewhat pedestrian. I was hoping he'll come back with bigger velo, but we'll see. -

Also many countries did not have a backup if Astrozaneca didn’t work.

I missed that Trevor Williams was DFAd and has enough time he’ll be a FA. Seemed like an awful fit last year, but I wonder if Sox sniff him out as a milb contract if the rumored interest last year was real. There has also been some smoke that pirates may put brault on the trade block. Not a huge fan but maybe a plan E or F.

Also people gotta recognize that Engel is actually a worthy LHP hitting platoon partner at this point

Very much. Though I’m really on the fence on whether we need to get a closer, vs filling out bullpen.

Trade value is hard. I think surplus value is useless, and would really stress that there are more trades that have happened than just ones sox have executed. But yeah, if you are going to criticize others for not understanding value, get the value correct yourself. Im loathe to trade Vaughn. But if you decide Snell is that piece, I do think the rays listen. Him and Franco will add a really nice offensive profile to that team that needed more runs, and they have been so successful getting pitching performance. Marquez I’m just not interested in. The talent premium you are paying is for cost and control and that’s not a sox need right now. Snell it’s an added benefit, but main thing is he is a top pitcher you can’t get otherwise. But it isn’t happening and I think next few years there will be an opportunity for an ace at a reasonable cost. They need to be patient and scout well for productive depth until then.

Ok so if those are gospel (despite 57 not being top 50) Vaughn is 13 and kopech is 18 currently at mlb.

Eloy was 11, cease was 90 in BA.

Son of a gun does he only have two years left?
