Got it. He reverted to bad habits but it didn’t affect his production at all.

You said he wore down as the season wore on.

I think Wheeler could be moved I’d just be surprised if it’s before they bring on their new President or VP or whatever it will be

They have Garcia too.

Adam Engel Sept/Oct wRC+ was 135

Thank you. Hell probably try and broker a deal to get these guys on the Mets to load them up via trade so they can’t play in FA

A lefty platoon is what, 160-180 PAs? Hardly exposed.

I agree with this though I’d not do kopech for this deal.

That’s why I specified

Let’s hope Sox front office won’t operate like middle schoolers.

The latter. I just don’t like paying for control. Would rather just pay for talent deals.

He’s great. If I were to rank my trade acquisition guys of those purportedly being shopped I’d go: 1) Wheeler 2) Darvish 3) Lynn 4) Musgrove 5) Snell 6) Marquez Obviously expected value given up plays a huge part here

Yeah you obviously seek it out. Just get annoyed by stuff like this where last year any team could get him at a price and they paid that top price. Now it’s they want to trade away that away...and it’s really hard to add much on top of it. But we’ll see.

Lol what

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30462167/sources-philadelphia-phillies-open-trade-offers-right-hander-zack-wheeler Just feels like a bunch of teams, knowing FA for pitchers is weak, seeing if they can get a haul. Having to pay talent AND wheelers contract really makes it less attractive to me

Sanguine. Fav move would still be Darvish in terms of trade.

Tigers are drafting much better IMO

Not Robert!

Crawford was top 10, it was just less and less convincing the closer he got to the big leagues.

Yeah I think this gets at it. Even Crawford, though highly rated, was a lot for his defense and athleticism. Addison russel type ranking, they lacked big iffensive prospects. I think reality is rebuilds that aren’t kicked off with big trades are more like a 5 year process not 3. Things like the Realmuto trade ended up being counterproductive. They’d probably be feeling much better going into next year with sixto, Nola and wheeler as top 3.

The cubs again huh

Sox and Phil’s to me were in same place in 2018 offseason. Luckily in 2019, Giolito, Moncada established themselves as stars and Robert put himself on the map. The Phil’s never had that

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30442797/how-philadelphia-phillies-botched-their-rebuild-tells-us-tanking%3Fplatform%3Damp Interesting to reflect on them. Also is Sam Miller’s last article for espn. I think part of this is even if the Phillies farm was ranked second...it really lacked high end talent. It seemed like the surprise of Hoskins made it seem like there was more there than there was. I think main issue is Phillies started hitting the gas too early, but they are a weird team. As the article gets into, a lot of their guys they depend on are performing well! But they both lack depth and also depth alone probably doesn’t get them over the top. They likely need one or two more excellent guys - and it’s not clear where they come from. I think if I were them I’d let Realmuto go, and trade Nola and Howard, and make a 2019 twins rotation out of the guys on the market.

living in Chicago, I don’t hear people talk about Schwarber like this anymore. Mostly frustrated that he stalled like the rest did. Schwarber was a surprise non tender, mlb writers wrote about. It all seems pretty normal. Schwarber may not be a starting outfielder, but he’s a pretty good DH candidate.
