  1. I don’t know about superstar, I do think he will be a top 50 hitter in the game easily. I don’t think Collins will ever be close to that nor do I particularly care. And $15 million? Really? That’s quite clearly fine. And nobody ever gets blocked. What happens if Vaughn has an offensive year the likes of Eloy or Robert had? We just trade NC. The return won’t even matter. Now what happens if Vaughn doesn’t? Are we worse for having NC at up DH another year? I believe in NCs bat. He’s not JD - but he is available and likely at a price much lower than I expected in November.
  2. Ha I was surprised by that as well.
  3. I think he's a fine bat (one of my favorite offensive players of the decade), I don't particularly see it as so productive. Would rather shore up other stuff. But it's not like, offensive to me or anything.
  4. yeah that revelation came later.
  5. See your second paragraph is exactly what I'm talking about in that a pillow deal may be possible. Everyone thought Castellanos was going to be a 9 figure contract. Great second half, youngest position player. Teams needed OFers. Who has been rumored on him? San Fran? The Cubs? There is no team going to sweep in.
  6. Sox fans didn't create this rumor though
  7. I am still going to wait and see here. I am not a fan of EE (though sanguine on it since it's so clearly a 1 year deal likely), but I really have believed in Castellanos bat as being plus his next three years so there is part of this that does excite me.
  8. Yeah, I do struggle with the idea that one side I really think he is going to be the 130 wrc+ bat the next four years with the possibility of a year where his power completely comes together. On the other side I just think this team needs some more complete players and some excellent ones come onto the FA market next year.
  9. well ok that was a fun 10 minutes i had.
  10. Castellanos entering his age 28 season is also why I am feeling somewhat convinced by my crackpot theory that he could be open to a 1 year deal.
  11. yes. What if his market cratered though? That's one option here. What if sox take the 2nd round pick grenade and give him a 1 year pillow deal a la cubs with Fowler?
  12. I always felt he was the perfect Abreu replacement but then we re-signed abreu long-term.
  13. Not sure he's right on payroll, more like 110
  14. that's true but it's also very easy not to answer a question.
  15. This would make me a happy boy. Gonna make it so sweet to have him and betts locked up for the next decade.
  16. I love Tim...he has to be better this year defensively.
  17. these players span a decade. He had DJ moore for his rookie year...last year. TED GINN! You know football reasonably well, trying to imply that Cam has had great receivers is idiotic, it's been a major issue his whole career. So..the bears have Allen Robinson. Is Robinson bad? Curtis Samuel has stats comparable to Anthony Miller. Is he bad too? Or is it that they need to have 4 all pros in receiving. Did Cam ever have that?
  18. Yeah cam definitely is used to having great pass options and great olines to perform.
  19. unfortunately I don't know that there is enough left in FA to expect catching up. Need have players like Jimenez and especially Lopez outperform.
  20. I wish we could lease collins. THe AAA environment is so ridiculous now it's probably not the best place to help him grow, but it will be hard to find him time. Send him to the Tigers for a one-year lease.
  21. I mean the NFL has basically become quidditch. You have this whole game going on that seems important, players trying to hit a ball through a hole, but actually all that matters is some guy randomly getting a golden ball completely separate from the action. If you don't have the QB watching your team is meaningless. I just can't bother with it after 30 years of this shit.
  22. Drafting trubisky to me is inexcusable and tanked what could have been a super bowl winning team with a good QB. However, gotta say I have no idea who a good qb will be anymore. Last year it seemed to make more sense. Those QBs who threw a lot in college and crucially showed good improvisational skills on third downs while being accurate seemed to be the key. But then baker was terrible this year and Josh Allen was good. Darnold was terrible and Daniel Jones was good. I have no idea. It's a damn crapshoot.
  23. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/dallas-keuchels-wait-is-over-and-the-white-sox-are-going-for-it/ Good stuff:
  24. this held up!
