  1. https://theathletic.com/1095338/2019/07/24/white-sox-drafts-will-have-a-new-boss-as-nick-hostetler-moves-to-a-special-assistant-role/ good summary
  2. Weaver and Delgado both with a homer. Not banner years but I have been decently pleased with them. Treading water at least.
  3. Didn’t say 2.1 WAR anywhere in my post. Discussed being able to supply depth that isn’t negative. 2.1 WAR would be a starter
  4. Sure. So are you saying Madrigal will put up less than 7 career WAR?
  5. People in these discussions focus way too much on “good”, but what if we imagine a system that doesn’t need to replace its CFer with a guy that can only put up a 5 wrc+, a team that could actually internally replace a DH, or had enough depth their fifth starter didn’t need to be Omar despaigne? What if they were just not good enough to be starters but not the worst players in the league? Thats a big advantage of good scouting and development.
  6. That’s good. I think by far my biggest frustration with Sox media was letting hostetler was poetic about how the org emphasizes best player available but then talks about how they needed to add depth in the 2016-18 drafts and that’s why it was so college heavy.
  7. But then...who is the good drafting boy in the FO.
  8. Ugh, this caused me to look across a few teams front office pages. The way the Sox is organized and titles is uhh, noticeable.
  9. Funny enough this was by far my favorite draft of his.
  10. The only outcome I’d care about is if they hire externally, otherwise who cares. I don’t think their drafts have been awful, but considering positioning they are subpar, and 2016 strategy was the most trash thing ever. But, yes, as Sox and bulls fan expectations go, they could have gone worse. And that’s good enough for some.
  11. Seriously. Hoping it’s infusion of PD guys and a pitching dev head
  12. At 18 in A+ I’d be surprised
  13. I'm a little surprised at Vaughns k-rate tbh

Brewers right (are we talking about Brinson?), both PCL and Texas League (less certain) are supposed to be hitters leagues. But of course INTL has become the ultimate hitters league with the ML ball this year.

I also would not trade a boatload for a closer in the offseason. The thing about overpaying for chapman is it was at a point where the cubs were reasonably confident in him being a player to get them from playoff contender to putting chips in for that additional edge. He was performing at the time. But as a teambuilding offseason exercise, and paying for that additional control for a closer, that's a landmine.
  16. That's a really nice line for Bilous, he has started to turn it on. This year he's decreased his walks a wee bit while way increasing his Ks. Guy has gas I believe.

I am still shocked at the type of regression Diaz is experiencing, tbh. I don't even think you should get that caught up in the Cano aspect, it was largely Kelenic for Diaz and it was a massive failure on that front.
  18. I wonder if Guzman was shut down for year.
  19. No Bailey, wilber sanchez 2-5 with a very fine .281 avg / .780 OPS for year. 17 years old, should be a player to watch next year in AZL.
  20. I would just pay rendon and ask him to play 2b and spell 3b and when he's unplayable move him to DH
  21. So this is baseball america's top ten, really hard for me to argue against honestly. I think BA has really responded to their overvaluing of college pitching recently and has been much more interesting to me than others (specifically, fangraphs has really sunk in my eyes, as they have become much less transparent and more dickish than they used to). BA top ten 1. Wander Franco 2. Jo Adell 3. Luis Robert 4. Mackenzie Gore 5. Adley Rutschman 6. Bo Bichette 7. Casey Mize 8. Forrest Whitley 9. Yordan Alvarez 10. Gavin Lux
  22. I think Wander Franco will not be unseated so long as he is in the minors and with good reason, but Robert to me is a clear cut #2. But of the arguments, I'm okay with the tossup aspect of Luis Robert v. Jo Adell. Adell has been probably the closest competitor in performance, and has an age factor. That said, I think Robert has an edge in baserunning and defense, but I can't say for sure having not seen Adell, but it's been an important part of his game. Now BA has him 3rd currently, MLB Pipeline 5. Fangraphs has not moved him from 20s, but, like at some point you gotta move Royce Lewis down right?
